Act 1 | Year 2021: 'Warmest Snowfall'

July 2021,

Winter. The month where the snow falls. People hated it due to it being too cold. Or people can't get out of their houses. No sun where they can play outside. Yet, some people love it. It was also the month of festivals.

For me, it looks dull. Clouds were always grey. People staying at their house to warm up. And you have to wear thick clothing just to get around. Some people who have yet to experience the winter season will be astonished.

But for someone who experienced it for the past 6 years, I can safely say it's the most boring season ever. Your skin gets dry, you can get hypothermia and you have to stay inside 24/7. So excuse me if I sound too harsh.

Teacher: Students! We will be having a new student with us today! So please give her a warm welcome!

I was bored in class. Scratch that. Yangsan has nothing to do when you already did everything. It was mid winter where the snow falls very heavily. The curriculum that the school teaches was far too easy for me. When I told my parents, they thought they gave birth to a genius. But genuinely, even I won't know.

Minjeong: I-I'm Kim M-Minjeong! N-Nice to meet you!

A small squeaky voice brought me back to the classroom. I looked to the front to see a timid girl hiding behind our homeroom teacher. Her hair was in a bob cut with bangs on her forehead.

Teacher: You can sit beside Killian over there. Killian, can you raise your hand?

The teacher called me out. Being respectful, I raised my hand as she showed Minjeong the way. As she sat, she turned towards me before shyly introduced herself.

Minjeong: I'm K-Kim M-Minjeong. Nice to meet you.

Me: Killan Sung. Hope you like your stay here.

I greet her short towards her nodding. Soon the class starts normally as I too was bored again. As a 6 year old, everything seemed dull for me. Because for me, yes I do enjoy learning. But the things taught there I know it by the back of my hand.

One time, I read a the whole textbook in a day and understand it fully.

Teacher: Minjeong, can you answer this question?

Minjeong: Y-Yes teacher! It's 6!

Teacher: Good! Smart girl you are! And Killian! Please pay attention to the front!

Me: Sorry teacher.

Teacher: If you're sorry. May I know the next answer?

I was caught staring at the snow falling by the window. Turning to the front, I looked at the questions laid by her. It was additions. Scanning the questions, I read my answer out loud.

Me: The answer goes by 6, 9, 4, 2 and 0. 

My answer got her flabbergasted by how nonchalant I answered it.

Teacher: C-Correct! You may sit down.

I sat down as I continued to watch the cloud raining snow.

Minjeong: Y-you're very smart.

Minjeong poked at my side, trying to gain my attention.

Me: Not really, I found it easy to understand.

I turned around to meet her eyes.
