Variety shows are currently a major part of television entertainment in South Korea. They are usually composed of various stunts, performances, skits, quizzes, comedy acts, etc. Popular celebrities and K-pop idols are also featured on Korean variety shows.
An example of variety show that is really famous in the country would be SEVENTEENs sunbaenim 'Going Seventeen'. Where they will do various activities to humor the fans. It got really famous and more kpop groups started to follow suit.
Some of the 4th gen consists of Aespa's 'Synk Time' or IVE's '1, 2, 3 IVE'. We also had our first episode aired the same year of our debut called 'B.G. Academy'. From cooking, to babysitting or even grocery shopping. We chose that name was because we want to 'teach' our viewers in a humorous way.
Also, I'm very particular and very picky when going to other reality shows. Because most of them are very rude to the idols. Misogynistic men sexualizing female idols were always a big no for me. I remembered that even SEVENTEEN sunbaenim, mind you there were 13 guys that were sexualize in one of the reality shows they went.
