Namjoon let out a massive breath as he struggled to put on his tie. His tongue poked out of his mouth as he looked in the mirror whilst focusing on the tie. Namjoon let out a massive groan, throwing his head back as it came undone once again.
Seokjin chuckles as he walks past him, Namjoon taking a few steps back to let the other stand in front of him. Seokjin smirked up at him as he began tying his tie.
"Nervous?" He teased as he pulled the tie through the loop.
"What gave it away?" The other chuckles nervously.
"Perhaps the fact that you suddenly don't know how to tie your own tie together"
"Maybe I'm faking it so I can do this" Namjoon smirks as he wraps his arms around his waist and pulls him in. He pressed a soft kiss on his cheek before his lips moved along his jaw and down his neck.
"You're a terrible liar!" Seokjin giggled as he whacked Namjoon's shoulder, "It's okay to admit you're nervous"
"I'm meeting your parents for the first time, of course I'm nervous" Namjoon groans, putting his head down. Seokjin holds his face in his hands.
"They're going to love you, almost as much as I love you," he said reassuringly, soothingly stroking his cheek.
"Almost?"
Seokjin moves his hands to lay flat on his chest, feeling Namjoon's rapid heartbeat underneath his fingertips.
"Well obviously, I'll love you more than anybody else," he says tugging his tie to press a sweet kiss on Namjoon's lips, Namjoon tightens his hold on Seokjin and presses him closer to himself. Seokjin smirks as the other tries to dominate the kiss. Seokjin pulls away, whilst Namjoon whines.
"Uh uh, behave. I promise I'll give you more kisses later" he giggles, winking at the other. He walks away from the other, grabbing his wallet and keys. As the pair drove to the restaurant, Seokjin told Namjoon some talking points he thinks they'd have in common and to just be himself. As they got closer and closer, Namjoon could feel his anxiety rising. He looked out the window, hands sweaty and feeling out of breath.
As they pulled up to the restaurant, Namjoon let out another deep breath. Seokjin held his hand and squeezed it reassuringly, Namjoon could feel himself calming down. Seokjin leaned over and kissed his cheek, when he pulled back he could still see the worry and concern in his eyes. He held his cheek again and pressed his lips against his.
"No matter what happens, I'll always love you," Seokjin says against his lips, Namjoon deepens the kiss, feeling his muscles relax.
"I love you" Namjoon replies, the pair lean on each other's forehead, Namjoon focusing on following Seokjin's breathing. After a few minutes, Seokjin leads him into the restaurant, still holding his hand tightly. The waitress leads them to a private function room, towards the back of the restaurant. Namjoon could feel his anxiety go right back up when they saw Seokjin's parents.
Seokjin's parents stood up, coming forward to greet them.
"Hello, my baby!" His mother cries, holding out her arms for a hug.
"Hi, Mum!" He exclaims, giving her a one-armed hug as he still holds Namjoon's hand. He shook his father's hand, saying his own greetings.
"Mum, Dad, this is the love of my life, Namjoon" Seokjin looked up at Namjoon with so much love and adoration that made Seokjin's mother almost cry.
Seokjin's parents were a bit hesitant after hearing that Namjoon was a famous idol, how could he possibly provide for Seokjin if he's always busy? But seeing the way that both males look at one another, they could feel their own anxiety ease.
"It's very nice to meet you," Namjoon says bowing to both of them. They bow in return.
"You're very handsome," Seokjin's mother says, "Seokjin is a very lucky man"
"I know" Seokjin replies, taking a seat as Namjoon pulls out his chair and pushes it in for him. After some small talk about what they should order, the four of them begin to get to know one another. They asked basic questions about Namjoon, like where he grew up, how he met Seokjin, how old he was, and how he was an idol.
Namjoon felt more comfortable as the night continued, feeling slightly more confident in himself. He felt like the hardest part of the evening was over. But, he was wrong.
"Namjoon, you seem like a nice guy. I can see how much Seokjin loves you" Seokjin's father said, making Seokjin smile at Namjoon.
"But we have some concerns"
The smile on both Namjoon's and Seokjin's faces fell instantly, Seokjin was about to say something but Namjoon squeezed his thigh underneath the table, reassuring him that he could take it from there.
"Of course, I know it's natural to be worried for Seokjin and who he's dating, my parents have always been protective of me and my sister"
"We're only worried, you're an idol, a famous one at that. You're always traveling, for months at a time." Seokjin's mother begins, face now serious.
"Seokjin moved across the country to be with you, he didn't even want to move out for college. Imagine our surprise when suddenly he wants to move out to be with a guy he's only known for a few weeks" his father adds.
"Dad" Seokjin's voice was defensive, Namjoon could tell he was trying to remain calm.
"It's okay sweetheart" Namjoon grabs his hand and gives it a squeeze, he looks at Seokjin's worried eyes and gives his best reassuring look.
"We just want to know your intentions with Seokjin, we just want to know that you're in this for the long haul just like Seokjin is," Seokjin's mother says in a kinder voice, but still maintaining her seriousness.
"How do we know you aren't going to break his heart?" His father asks, Seokjin is about to defend Namjoon but Namjoon is quick to reply.
"I love Seokjin, sir. I don't know how to explain it, but I can assure you I've never felt this way before. I just feel it. Like the moon rises after the sun rises, like how trees shed their bark once a year. I know that he is the one who will give me meaning to my memories."
Namjoon looks away from Seokjin's parents to look at Seokjin, whose eyes are glassy, he intertwined their fingers, kissing his cheek softly. He continues, only looking at Seokjin.
"Seokjin is the person who makes me smile and makes me happy. Before I knew him, I was just a person, but he eroded all my edges and turned it into love. Whenever I struggle, I think of him because I know that we will stay strong and fly together. I know that with him by my side, anything is possible."
Namjoon looks back at his parents, his own eyes glassy.
"I've never met such an amazing and compassionate individual, and really, I have you both to thank for that. Sir, I'm going to spend the rest of my life with your son. I promise, that I will do everything to take care of him and give him everything he deserves and more"
"Well considering the profession, we know you can take care of him financially-"
"-that's not what I meant. Sir" Namjoon was never one to interrupt, especially an elder but he needed his point to be clear and concise.
"I don't mean with money, I mean that I want to make his dreams come true and support him. I'll remind him every day how much I love him, I will never let him feel unloved."
Seokjin's mother sniffles, wiping her eyes with the napkin.
"Gees, if you don't marry him Seokjin I will"
Everybody laughed, Namjoon looked over at his lover and saw him wiping his own tears.
"He's mine," he says playfully back to his mother, leaning his head against Namjoon's arm.
"I think you're great Namjoon, I know how he feels about you, it makes me so happy to hear how much you love him" his mother continued to cry, "ah You ruined my makeup"
Seokjin's father doesn't say anything, making Namjoon nervous. He suddenly smiles, standing up and holding out his hand for Namjoon to shake. Seokjin's father had watched the way Namjoon watched Seokjin like he was the most important person in the room, he looked proud to be able to be with the others. Given the speech he gave, he knew Namjoon was the one.
"Whenever the day comes, you have my blessing"
Namjoon's eyes widen, his lips forming into the biggest grin. He gratefully takes his hand and shakes it firmly.
"Thank you, sir"
Seokjin's heart was bursting, he got up to hug her his. His smile was the brightest thing in the room. He was quick to engulf Namjoon in a hug, kissing his cheek.
"I love you so much" Seokjin looks up at the other with glassy eyes.
"I meant every word" Namjoon replies, kissing the top of his head. Namjoon was happy that the meeting had gone well and that he won over both of Seokjin's parents. He was more happy that he was going to be able to spend the rest of his life with the other, looking forward to the next part of their adventure.
