Hyun-Joo was finally finished with bathing Taehee and putting her to sleep. She wished the little girl goodnight, as well as her parents, and quietly left the room, closing the door behind her.

As she made her way to her own bedroom, Hyun-Joo couldn't help but smile to herself. It was rare for her to have some free time to herself, and tonight, she could do whatever she wanted to before going to sleep.

Hyun-Joo quickly changed into her comfortable nightdress and slipped under the covers of her bed. She turned on the cooler to combat the summer heat and held her phone in her hand, longing to talk to her mother. She missed her dearly and yearned for her mother's comforting voice.

Dialing her mother's number, Hyun-Joo waited for the call to be picked. "Hello?" Her mother's voice came through the line, filled with warmth and familiarity.

"Omma, it's me," Hyun-Joo replied, her voice tinged with emotion. "I miss you."

Her mother's voice softened. "Oh, my dear Hyun-Joo. I miss you too. Are you doing well?"

Hyun-Joo hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much she could share about her job at the Jeon's. But then again, her mother always had a way of seeing through her silence.

"I'm working as a maid for Detective Jeon now, Omma," she revealed, her voice filled with pride. "He's a well-known figure, you've probably seen him on the news channels."

There was a brief moment of silence on the other end of the line, and Hyun-Joo held her breath, waiting for her mother's response.

"Detective Jeon? That's quite impressive, Hyun-Joo," her mother finally replied, her voice laced with a mix of concern and pride. "He must have to deal with alot of criminals because of his job. Just make sure you take care of yourself and stay safe, okay?"

Hyun-Joo nodded, even though her mother couldn't see her. "I will, Omma. I promise."

A small smile crept onto her face as she continued, "But you know what I miss the most? Your cold noodles. They always warmed my heart, Omma."

Her mother chuckled softly, and Hyun-Joo could almost picture her face lighting up. "Ah, my sweet girl. I'll make them for you when you come home. Nothing beats the warmth of homemade food."

Their conversation continued, mother and daughter catching up on their lives, their voices intertwining with love and longing. As the clock struck midnight, Hyun-Joo realized it was time to bid her mother goodnight.

"I should let you sleep, Omma," she said, her voice filled with affection.

"Sleep well, my dear. I'll make sure to cook you a big bowl of cold noodles when you're back home," her mother reassured her, her voice brimming with warmth. "I'll be waiting for you. Come back safely."

Hyun-Joo smiled, her heart lighter than before. "Thank you, Omma. I can't wait to see you."

With a final exchange of 'I love you's, Hyun-Joo ended the call and placed her phone on the desk. A sense of peace washed over her, and she decided to spend some more time on her phone. She picked up her phone, opening a random drama she had been meaning to watch, and settled comfortably in her bed.

As the drama unfolded on her screen, Hyun-Joo let herself get lost in the captivating storyline, her mind momentarily escaping the complexities of her job and the encounters she faced in this very house.

As the minutes turned into hours, Hyun-Joo found herself becoming engrossed in the storyline. The characters on screen seemed to come alive, their dialogues filling the room, as she allowed herself to be swept away in a world far from her own.
