Jungkook stirred from his uneasy slumber, his eyes slowly adjusting to the morning light streaming into the living room. The cool, hard floor beneath him sent a shiver down his spine, and the realization struck him like a bolt of lightning. This was unusual; how didn't he even realize that he had fallen?
He attempted to sit up, wincing as he examined the scratches on his feet, ones that most certainly hadn't been there last night before he fell asleep.Slowly, his gaze drifted to the open main door, ajar, as he wondered how it had been left that way. He carefully rose to his feet, his heart pounding with a mix of curiosity and concern. Jungkook's steps were hushed as he ventured toward the bedroom, each creak of the wooden floorboards echoing in the silence of the house.
It was quite clear that he was the first one to be awake. Then who left the door open?
Pushing the bedroom door open, he was met with an empty space. Panic began to claw at the edges of his thoughts as he scanned the room for any signs of his husband. It became apparent that Taehyung was noticeably absent during this early morning hour. The question lingered: where in the world could he possibly be at this time of day, and moreover, why did he take the kids along?
"Did he leave me because of what I did to him last night?"
Dread clung to Jungkook's every step as he left the bedroom, his search taking him down the narrow hallway toward their late maid, Hyun-Joo's room. He hesitated before gently pushing open the door to reveal an unexpected sight. There, nestled on the bed in their deceased maid Hyun-Joo's room, lay Taehyung and the kids, fast asleep.
Jungkook's surprise was palpable, and he struggled to comprehend the scene before him. He knew that Taehyung had never liked Hyun-Joo, and his choice of sleeping in her room was beyond puzzling. The room itself had an air of melancholy, with remnants of Hyun-Joo scattered about – her forgotten belongings, a trace of the perfume she used to wear, and a lingering sense of sadness.
Jungkook, not wanting to disrupt Taehyung and his precious daughters' slumber, chose to exit the bedroom, allowing them to continue sleeping a while longer.
With the troubling memories from the previous night still fresh on his mind, Jungkook decided it was time to bring back some normalcy to this new morning. He thought the best way to do that was by making a delicious breakfast. Maybe the comforting smell of cooking would help chase away the strange darkness that had enveloped him.
Quietly, he made his way to the kitchen, each step heavy with unease. Before starting breakfast, he splashed water on his face to wake up. The soft clinking of dishes and utensils filled the air as he gathered ingredients and set about making breakfast, a desperate attempt to escape the lingering memories of the night before.
The sizzling of bacon in the pan and the scent of fresh coffee brewing should have felt comforting, but the eerie silence in the house seemed to amplify the tension.
Shortly thereafter, the soft pattering of feet reached Jungkook's ears. He spun around and spotted Taehyung standing in the kitchen doorway, gazing at him with those wide eyes. Jungkook couldn't help but break into a grin, as he took in his husband's adorable morning expression.
When the table was finally set with a spread of breakfast dishes, he called out, "Good morning, my charming doll. Have a seat," his voice was soft and affectionate as he greeted Taehyung.
However, the silence that followed was far from what he had expected.
As seconds turned into an agonizing silence, a shiver ran down Jungkook's spine, and a gnawing sense of unease began to claw at him. The air in the room seemed to thicken, and he felt a growing tension, as if the world had suddenly shifted into a nightmare.
