Jungkook stood at the investigation room of the young officers training center, his mind focused and determined. He glanced over at his partner for the investigation, Agent Lee, who possessed an equally serious expression. The two members from the Department of Criminal Investigation were prepared to delve deep into the enigma surrounding the murder of Kim Su Mi.
As they delved into their inquiries, Jungkook and his partner interviewed individuals connected to the victim. Their first lead came from Ha Yun, Su Mi's best friend.
Agent Lee looked at the girl sitting in front of them before asking in a gentle manner. "Ha Yun, can you tell us anything about Su Mi that might be relevant to our investigation?"
"Well... I don't know much about her as she likes to keep her life private. But one thing I do know is that she was in a secret relationship with someone. She never told me who the guy was or any hints about him."
"A secret relationship?" Jungkook asked surprised. This piece of information ignited a spark of curiosity within Jungkook's mind. Who was this mysterious individual that had stolen Su Mi's heart? Could this lover have any involvement in her untimely demise? "That's crucial information. Thank you, Ha Yun."
Seeking further insight, they turned their attention to some other people who had interacted with Su Mi. One individual had mentioned about an elderly officer who seemed fixated on her striking beauty, always watching her intently.
"He always stared at her, it was unsettling. I don't know why, maybe it was her beauty. It was strange, though. But I don't think he ever did anything to her." The person said.
"Who is he? What's his name?" Lee inquired.
"Officer Smith."
So next on their list to investigate was this so called elderly officer.
"Officer Smith... we've come to know that you always had your eyes on Su Mi. Can you explain your actions?" Jungkook asked, raising his eyebrows questioningly.
Guilt-ridden, officer Smith confessed, "I admit I stared at her, but it was never malicious. She was very pretty and I... I kinda harboured feelings for her over the time, but I never acted on them." Jungkook couldn't help but be repulsed by the notion of an older man in his 50's, harboring such indecent thoughts about a young woman. He could not fathom how anyone could be so easily tempted by the innocence of a young girl.
"Did you have any involvement in her murder?" This time agent Lee had asked the question.
The officer's unsettling behavior made it difficult for Jungkook to dismiss him as a mere onlooker. There was a possibility that this man's infatuation with Su Mi had crossed boundaries. However, during the interrogation, the elderly officer vehemently denied any involvement in her murder. Despite this, Jungkook could not shake off the sense of unease that clung to him.
"No, I didn't. I wasn't even at the training center when it happened. I only found out when everyone was called back for questioning."
"Was there any other person Su Mi was friendly with?"
"Yes. Ju Ho Shin. He was close to her among all the guys."
"Thank you for your cooperation. We'll call you back if needed." Officer Smith nods at Lee's words before leaving the room.
The investigation continued with Ju Ho next on the list. "Ju Ho, we've been looking into Su Mi's connections. Can you tell us more about your friendship with her? We got to know that you were close to her among all the other guys. What's your connection with her?"
"Su Mi and I were just good friends, but we weren't that close. We just occasionally hang out sometimes." Ju Ho confessed. Jungkook looked at the guy suspiciously. He couldn't help but feel Ju Ho to be lying straight to their faces.
