It was already after sunset by the time they had returned home. Telling his mother about what Gila did and about Destiny and Snowstar would be even more exhausting than the long flight back to the sandwing kingdom, in Dusk's opinion.
Queen Kyanite looked more annoyed than usual when they returned, if that was even possible for the naturally annoyed sandwing queen.
"You're back," she greeted them, "What in the moons took you so long?"
"Uhhhhhhhh..", Dusk hesitated, "GilainsultedGreatAuntTigersharkandshechasedhimaroundthehouseandheknockedoverstuffandthenMistgotstruckbylightningandcrashedintherainforestandwemetanightwingandanicewingnightwinghybrid- sooooo, uhh, yeah."
"What was that?"
"Gila insulted Tigershark, and she chased him around the house and he knocked over some of her expensive furniture. Mist got struck by lightning and crashed in the rainforest. We later met a nightwing called Destiny and an icewing/nightwing hybrid called Snowstar, who helped heal Mist, so she's fine."
"Hey, that's us!", Snowstar said to Destiny and smiled.
Kyanite snarled. "Gila did WHAT NOW?"
"Who wants to bet that we won't see him for a week?", Dusk whispered to the others.
"He's sooooo dead. I bet he'll be grounded for a month," Seabreeze responded.
"Only a month?" Snowstar chimed in, "I'll bet she grounds him for a whole year!"
"Don't jinx it, Snowstar!", Aloe laughed quietly.
And well, Snowstar did jinx it. Gila was grounded for five months instead of two because Snowstar later asked her why she made it so short, but because he's Gila, he's probably going to find a way to get in trouble even while grounded.
