Home, not so sweet home

"I will forgive you Nikolai, but right now I need time," she said looking at him. "You would need to do more than hug me to fix what you did,"

"Would you at least come with us to Os Alta?" he asked hopefully.

"I don't know," she answered sincerely. "I still need to think about it,"

"Kaida, please, come with me," he begged.

"Nikolai, you lied to me for almost three years. You are not in a position to ask for anything," Kaida said. "Now, please get out. I want to rest," she said. Nikolai nodded and sadly left the tent.

"Kaida," Alina rushed inside the tent. Kaida rolled her eyes.

"What?" she asked in a friendly tone.

"I wanted to talk with you," the sun summoner said.

"Then talk," Kaida said.

"I want you to know that I said no to Nikolai's proposal, I will never marry him. You know I love Mal," she explained. "And I don't know your history with him but I can see how absent you are and I will understand if you don't want to come to Os Alta but I will really want you to come with me. I really need you to end this war. Just think about it," she begged.

"I would think about it," Kaida said, making Alina smile.

"I will let you sleep," the sun summoner left with a smile and finally Kaida was left alone.

It was nightfall, and as usual Kaida couldn't sleep. She got up from her bed and decided to go and take a walk. When she was outside she saw Nikolai's tent was illuminated by a light.

With firm steps she walked towards his tent.

"May I?" she asked before she entered.

"Kaida, yes, of course," Nikolai said. "What's up?"

"I will go to Os Alta," she admitted. Nikolai's face lit up.

"That's amazing!" he said.

"I'm only going because of Alina and because she asked me to. I'm not going because of you," she said directly. Nikolai's happiness faded away but part of him was still happy that she was going with them.

"Okay, then I'll see you in the morning," he said.

"Good night,"

"Good night,"

And there she was, riding a horse surrounded by soldiers from the First Army and her friends walking through the village and having to see Alina and Nikolai performing on everyone.

Kaida might knew that Alina didn't love Nikolai, but it was still painful to see how they grew closer as they approached the capital.

Kaida was standing between the crow of the village next to Tamar, Tolya, Mal and Jake watching how Alina and Nikolai were greeting the people and making sure nothing bad happened.

Nikolai and Alina were about to get inside the carriage when Nikolai whispered something to Alina's ear and then he did something Kaida didn't expect, he kissed her. "I don't love her," she remembered his words. Would he kiss someone even if he didn't love her?

Kaida didn't know, what she did know was that it was more painful for her to see than she expected.

Tolya, Tamar and Jake turned to see her and then to see Mal. Kaida said nothing and left her spot not wanting to hear the cheers of the crow.
