"I thought first year was suppose to be the hardest!" Jada complains. She's in my class. Really sweet girl. Brown skin, dyed auburn hair. Big doe eyes that are a light brown colour. Extremely funny, always makes me laugh. She's my closest friend in university.

We hang out sometimes, when we both get a chance. Studying medicine doesn't always leave you with the most free time. And then there's the obvious issue, my complicated lifestyle that I'm hesitant to bring anyone into.

"Exactly! I genuinely think first year was easier." I huff as we walk out of class, heading towards the stairs to get outside.

"Studying medicine ain't for the weak. social life is non-existent just like my mental health." She laughs as we walk out of the uni doors.

"Mental stability is beyond me." I joke

She laughs out loudly as we come to a stop at the gates.

"We need to hang out soon. Try and get out of these heavy schedules of ours." Jada suggests

"Yes we do! I'll text you later. Maybe we can do something this weekend." I reply

"Sounds good." She smiles gently touching my arm

"Ready to do it all again tomorrow?" She asks

"Fuck no!" I laugh causing her to laugh too.

"See you tomorrow." She gives a small little wave as she turns to walk away.

"Bye!" I respond watching her walk away and then turning around to walk the opposite way.

I get to Ray who as always is waiting for me in the car.

"Hey there kiddo." He smiles at me as he gets out to open the door.

"Hey Ray." I smile

"Can I drive today?" I ask sweetly. Sometimes Ray lets me drive back, just so I can feel normal. It's our little secret.

"Go on then." He smiles nodding towards the drivers seat.

I smile brightly as I get Into the drivers side, Ray sitting in the passenger seat.

"Re-claiming your passenger princess title." I tease grinning over at him

He glares over at me. "Just drive"

I laugh, nodding my head and starting up the car

"How was class?" He questions

"My brain has turned into mush." I sigh

He laughs a little at my dramatics but then looks over at me seriously

"You're doing so well kiddo. Making me, Ty and all of the people that love and care about you proud. Especially your parents." He smiles warmly at me. I glance over at him, shooting him back a smile.

Means a lot to hear that he's proud of me but hearing that I'm making my parents proud, means even more. I only started studying medicine for them. Wanted to help save lives since I couldn't save theirs. Wanted to give back so no child has to grow up without their parents.

"Thanks Ray." Feel a little teary eyed but I blink quickly to stop any tears escaping and focus my eyes back on the road.

An hour later we arrive outside of my house. Both Ray and I get out.

"Any plans for the afternoon?" Ray asks. it's only 5pm. Still early.

"Going to the gym, have a private kickboxing session." I relay. It's actually a very therapeutic activity.
