WesI feel a mixture of relief and sadness as I watch Sage leave the restaurant. Relieved I've managed to keep her safe, but sad because I can tell she's worried and slightly scared and I don't like to see her that way. I don't want to make her re-live the trauma that follows her everyday.
It's better to keep her out of things to keep her safe. Luca feels the same way with Valentina. Both of our number one priorities is keeping our girls safe. In a twisted way, I kind of like it. Kind of like actually having a girl to keep safe.
"What's the plan?" Luca asks as he scans the area. Eyes falling on the men across the room that have been staring at us. For majority of the dinner actually. Their staring intensified when Luca's parents left the table though.
I nod over to the bar. "We're gonna have a drink."
Luca nods, eyes sharp as we both walk over to sit at the bar. Nod our head at the bartender as a hello and order our drinks, eyes peeled, watching the men across the room who are still looking at us. It's all a game, this eye contact thing. An intimidation tactic.
"I ain't got my gun." Luca whispers to me.
"Yeah neither. Thought it would be a nice chill dinner with my girl and best friends. Didn't think this shit would turn into a fucking western standoff." I scoff. Annoyed is an understatement to how I'm feeling.
"I've got my knife." I inform Luca.
He nods once. Flashes his pocket knife that's in the pocket of his blazer. Can do a lot of damage with a pocket knife, when you know how to use it properly. And trust me, Luca knows how to use it.
"We have a drink. Wait. See if they're all stares or actually on action."
"Cool." I nod. Hoping this shit can be done and over with because I wanna get back to Sage.
Luca and I cheers as we drink our drinks slowly. Peering around the room a bit.
No movement from the men.
It's not until Luca and I get up to go, now having finished our drinks that the men approach. Four of them stand before us. Italian. Two tallish, two short.
"Can I help you?" I ask standing tall, making direct eye contact with the man in front of me. He has a few face tattoos, muscular but not as much as me. Could easily take him. All of them for that matter.
"Don't know. Can you?" His accents thick. He's evidently trying to be intimidating but I don't scare easy. Or at all for that matter. Family—people I care about is the only thing that hits me deeply.
"The fuck you want?" Luca says impatiently. Doesn't like to be separated from Val for a long time whenever she's worried. I can tell how unsettled she looked bothered him. Been a while since she's been worried about him this much.
"Easy Moretti. Keep it nice." The man in front of me taunts. Can tell he's the leader of whatever the fuck they're in. Bunch of jokes if you ask me. Not intimidating at all.
"How the fuck do you know my name?" Luca says through gritted teeth. Worried about him a little. He's usually the calm, thought out one. The wise one. I'm the firecracker. The impulsive reckless one. But right now, it looks like he's seconds away from punching one of these twats.
"We know everything that goes on here. We know alot about your dad." Face tats speaks. Looks Luca up and down with slight disgust.
"You got a fucking point to this?" I snap. Equally frustrated.
