SageIt's New Year's Eve.
I for one, am incredibly ready to ring in this year and enter a new one. Looking quite forward to a new year actually. Sixth and final year of medicine, new group of friends I adore and a boyfriend who treats me like the only girl to ever exist.
And of course my family, and all of the other people that have been around me for years, holding me down.
The weather however, isn't reflecting the excitement and the buzz that the group are feeling. It's all grey skies, rain. A lot of rain. And Wes is a little worried that the firework display he's arranged isn't going to be able to happen.
He's timed it to go off as soon as the countdown ends. According to him, it's the perfect end to a great trip. Send us back home with positive vibes.
I'm happy with anything if I'm honest. Finally after twenty four years on this earth, I feel like I'm actually living. Not just existing, getting by through life with the death of my parents tailing me and the realisation that I barely have any friends weighing down on my mind.
Now I'm living life the way I've always dreamed I would. With an amazing group of friends who have become like family to me. I'm getting to experience things, go to new places.
And Wes. Well he's given me so much. I feel loved by him. But most importantly I feel seen. He sees me for who I am, what I'm capable of. And that feels so nice after feeling like I was the girl in the shadows, wilting away.
The atmosphere feels light all throughout the house. Everyone's just excited for tonight. To get drunk and have a good time.
We spend most of the day relaxed. Lounging around in the living room, watching Tv. We play a few board games too. Not much to do seeing as the weathers shit.
Valentina and I sneak off from the boys. Grab a bottle of champagne from the kitchen and slink off upstairs to pick out our outfits and start getting ready. Dinners at eight tonight and it's already six.
"This one?" I ask her holding up my favourite black mini dress I bought from Burberry. It's my special occasion dress seeing as it's so pretty.
She nods eagerly, topping up our glasses with the gold coloured liquid.
"You'll look stunning!" She encourages.
I smile over at her appreciatively. Hang the dress up on the wardrobe and then join her at the end of the bed.
"Your dress is gorgeous." Nod to it draped over the chair.
"Not sure about it. It's between that and the white one." She pouts her lips in thought.
"Red looks so good on you. So definitely red!" I assure.
She looks back at it and then at me. Cracks a smile.
"Okay! I'm convinced!" She replies.
We cheers, the pair of us sipping our drinks.
"I'm so happy to be here. Spending New Year's Eve with you guys." Don't mean to be so sentimental. Think it's the champs.
