Wes

I open my eyes, peering over to my left at my girlfriend who's also awake, looking at her phone.

"Good morning." I shuffle up closer to her, leaning over her to kiss her on her cheek.

"Morning." Sage smiles looking over at me.

"Did you enjoy your birthday?" I wrap my arms around her.

"It was amazing. Thank you so much." She reaches out fixing my hair for me. Moving it away from my eyes.

"You're very welcome." I take her hand that's fixing my hair and kiss her inner palm.

I feel something crawling on me, only to look down and see a black cat on top of me. Their green eyes peering into my own.

I jump up abruptly, sitting up in the bed, back against the headboard. I hate cats. Terrified of them.

My distance doesn't stop the small creature. It still continues to get closer until it's nuzzling its silly nose in my face.

"Sage get this thing off me!" I say in a state of panic.

She laughs picking up the random cat that I have no clue where it appeared from, placing it on her lap as she strokes it. I watch it nuzzle up to her.

"Don't tell me you hate cats?" She laughs

"Yes. Yes I do."

"How can you not hate them? Have you seen how they can attack you? Absolutely terrifying." I shiver at the thought of a cat attack.

She laughs loudly, shaking her head. "The fact that you're a gang leader, experiencing the worst of the worst but you're scared of a cat, is fucking hilarious."

"Don't you have a dog? They're more dangerous they can bite you?"

"Shay would never." I cross my arms over my chest proudly.

"Well, Salum—" she points to the cat.

"Would never either. He's such a cutie. Best pet in the world." She says

"And he really likes you."

"I can tell by how he nearly clawed my eyes out." I stare at salum skeptically.

"He was showing you love silly! Which is rare because salum hates everyone. Always starts hissing." She explains.

"Mhm." I squint my eyes at Salum.

Sage laughs again at my reaction, putting Salum down. I watch as he runs off out of the room. Probably on his way to terrorise another poor unsuspecting victim.

"Are you busy today?" She scoots closer to me, head on my chest hand on my stomach as she hugs me.

"Unfortunately." I huff.

"Business meeting with dad." I tell her playing with her hair.

"Oh. Are you okay to go?" I know she's referring to what happened a few days ago.

"Yeah yeah, it'll be fine." I assure, playing with one of her curls.

"Wish we could spend the day together." She pouts sadly. Her big brown eyes looking up at me.

"Me too." I kiss her forehead.

"Come to Val's later. She's making dinner for all of us."

"It's not Sunday though?"
