TEMPEST

Sally Jackson opened the front door, looking rather shocked to see me.
I know you're probably thinking, But you and her son had a really big fight on New Year's- Yeah, sure, but that's just mine and Percy's connection. Sally grounded him, and Annabeth grounded me, and they made us both write apology letters to each other. In our letters, we basically said we weren't sorry about fighting, and that it needed to happen, but we're totally good friends. That isn't to say we won't have it out again (believe me, I will fight Percy Jackson several times in the future), but we do have a connection of some sort.
"T-Tempest?" Sally gasped, seeing how distraught I was.
I didn't really know what to say. "Um... I brought you that coffee you like." I handed her the bag of fresh coffee beans and Sally took it, and, surprisingly enough, she also took my hand and pulled me inside.
Sally is one of the few mortals that can see through the Mist, so as she sat me down at the kitchen table and began grinding the coffee for us to have, I told her about mine and Annabeth's fight. She knew all about the whole Kronos thing and Luke's betrayal, and she also knew that Annabeth was my best friend. I don't think she knows how much I really love Annabeth, though, because she looked both shocked and heartbroken as I explained the whole situation- minus the fact that I'm in love with her, but I don't think I needed to say that for Sally to realize it.
I tapped my finger on my cheek, staring out the window. It disgusted me to see the Manhattan skyline rather than a quaint little San Francisco neighborhood. "I shouldn't have yelled at her. And I shouldn't have left."
"It's okay that you did," Sally said to me, nodding earnestly. "I think it's okay that you got some distance."
"Distance would've been going to a different room, not going across the country," I said sadly, looking down at my coffee mug. "I haven't even talked to her since it happened."
"She'll be okay," Sally assured. "And you will too. But, I think both of you need to take some breathing time and figure out how to talk about it. It's a big deal that Luke..." she sighed, shaking her head. "You did the right thing by protecting her."
"I know I did!" I said, trying not to cry. "It... You should've seen him, Ms. Jackson, the way he was using her... He kept making it seem like he was- he was romantically interested in her. It's disgusting. He's- He's a grown man, using a teenager like that-" I put my palm on my forehead, trying to gather my thoughts. It didn't really work though. Sally rubbed a comforting hand on my knee as I sipped my coffee. "And her face when..."
"You don't have to talk about it," Sally assured. "We can talk about something else. Percy mentioned you beat your Final Fantasy games?"
I nodded. "It was, uh, it was..." I trailed off. Annabeth had been with me when I beat those games. She helped me beat them, actually. I couldn't think of anything interesting from the past five months without thinking of that girl. "I'm sorry."
"No worries," Sally smiled. "Actually, how about you take a bath, and I'll bake some cookies?"
"That... would be nice, I think."

Everything was fine.
