Vol. 3.5-6: We bitch and Hades bitches and Melinoe bitches

I threw open the doors to the palace and screamed, "HAADDEEESSS!"

Percy ran in after me. "Okay, I'm mad too, but let's not get smited-"

"HAAAAAADDDEEEEEESSS!" I saw the god in question sitting on his throne, his eyebrows raised at me. Next to him, on her beautiful rose throne, Persephone sat and did some sort of floral embroidery. Hades slightly lowered the most recent issue of Rolling Stone he was reading and just sighed, gripping the bridge of his nose.

"Oh, goody," he said. "I was worried I would be getting annoying demigods."

"Mr. Hades, we need to talk," Percy said.

"Not one step closer!"

We stopped walking and Percy let me lead, since Hades hates him a whole lot more.

"T-Tempest just got taken," I said. Quickly, I explained the story of how we came down here and exactly what had happened with the abduction. "And we have to get her back!"

Persephone stopped her embroidery and looked over at her husband. "I suppose we need them to do this. I do enjoy having coffee with the girl."

"Just find another girl to get coffee with."

"And break our streak?" Persephone scoffed. "She's being bound with Stygian Iron. There's not much she'll be able to do for herself, you know."

Hades rolled his eyes. "Fine. I don't see why I should help you, after that incident with the sword..."

"Oh, really, dear. It was just a momentary lapse in judgement! I was just trying to help." She went back to her embroidery. "You should be able to save her just fine. What part of her is bound with the metal?"

"Just her hands," Percy said, "from what we saw. How do we get it off?"

"You don't," said Hades. "You chop off her limbs at the spot before the metal binds her."

I gasped in horror. "That's awful!"

Percy tapped my shoulder. "Um, she doesn't feel any pain... This is actually good for us."

"Your main issue will be fighting off the monsters," Persephone said. "Mel is going through a... erm... rebellious phase."

Hades slammed down his magazine. Apparently, this was a touchy subject. "Oh, for our sake, Persephone, stop babying her! She's a full-grown goddess and she isn't being rebellious, she's being downright traitorous."

"It's just a phase! I'm sure she'll come out of it!" Persephone insisted. "You're just too hard on her. She doesn't want to be around us anymore."

"I'm not hard on her. I'm preparing her for the real world, and that's hard."

"Yes, the real world is hard, so shouldn't she come home to somewhere that isn't?"

"Maybe I would be less 'hard'," Hades said, mocking Persephone, "if she did her chores on time or actually had a conversation with us! You spoiled her rotten, and now, she thinks she can get whatever she wants!"
