Jason stood outside and looked at the stone archways. He was standing at the entrance of the New Zoo that had opened in his town. As he looked within, he felt fairly confident in what he had planned today.
Jason adjusted his glasses momentarily as he began to walk through into the Main Hallway. He quickly rubbed against his suit, trying to line out any last-minute wrinkles as he held a briefcase in his other hand, containing the reason he had come here today. He rubbed his hand through his thin red hair, flattening any tufts which might have formed on his way here.
He was an upcoming investor and was interested in the proposition to invest in the local New Zoo in his area. He felt that this was a golden opportunity and hoped that investing in the zoo would make a good improvement to his portfolio.
He had recently contacted The Zoo after a recommendation from a related consultant. They confirmed their interest and had asked him to come to the Zoo for a discussion. He hoped that his investment would allow the Zoo to sustain itself in the long term.
Jason looked strangely around at many of the empty enclosures within the Main Hallway.
"Strange...to see it so...empty," thought Jason, feeling rather confused. He thought that any money invested in the Zoo would go towards obtaining new animals.
As he looked around, he thought that the framework that had been built was magnificent. He assumed that there had already been investors in the Zoo given its quality or perhaps, the Zoo had some startup money left over.
"I hope someone shows up promptly...I have another appointment at three" thought Jason, feeling more impatient by the moment. Nevertheless, he did admire the design of the New Zoo. It truly did seem like a great investment.
Now, all that he needed to do was seal the deal.
As Jason walked deeper through the Main Hallway, he managed to notice a few animals, particularly a peacock which strutted his feathers at Jason as he wandered by. Jason stood still for a while just staring at the peacock before he checked his watch, expecting his meeting soon.
It wasn't long before Jason noticed someone. He waited for a moment, seeing if they would acknowledge him. Their failure to do so caused Jason to become further irritated.
"Do they even care about my potential deal?" wondered Jason, feeling impatient once more.
It was then that the person he had come across turned and looked up to face him. She was of small height, coming to his waist, she had soft freckles over her face and had light blond hair.
"Hello sir," said the woman.
"Hello, little girl," said Jason with a slight hint of irritation in his voice. "My time is valuable, I don't appreciate it being wasted." he thought as he stared at the small girl beside him. "I am looking for a manager? I have a meeting to express my interest in investing in the Zoo" said Jason as he looked at the small girl, getting more irritated by the minute.
The woman looked at Jason before smiling. Jason was a tall man and she believed that he would do nicely. She understood that her friends had just told her to accept the investment but unknown to Jason, she had taken offence to his statement and would now intend on adding him to their collection against the best wishes of her friends.
"Ok first off, I'm the Manager of this Zoo," she said, with an edge in her voice as she introduced herself as Elizabeth. Jason failed to notice the concealed malice in her voice as he listened to her. "We have found your investment offer interesting, can we continue to discuss this in my office?" asked Elizabeth. She began to walk away, implying that Jason should follow her.
Jason followed her as he noticed other animals in the Zoo. He noticed a Seal that was bouncing a ball around his enclosure before performing tricks to impress his mistress as she walked by and waved at the seal with a joyful look on her face. Jason was confused but guessed that she was the seal's trainer or something.
As the pair entered Elizabeth's office Jason had a look around, he noticed that there were a lot of strange items scattered around. He noticed what appeared to be papers hanging from every wall. They all seemed to have strange scribbles on them. Jason ignored them, brushing them off as unimportant as he approached Elizabeth's desk.
To Jason's annoyance, Elizabeth's desk was covered in the same scribbles.
"Don't mind that, I haven't cleaned The Office for a while," said Elizabeth firmly. She began to take the papers on her desk and placed them into various filing cabinets around the room. "I share this room with two others who are off-site today" explained Elizabeth as she saw Jason's annoyance plastered all over his face. She took no notice of this, heading back towards the desk as she sat down in a large chair.
"Is she even taking me seriously?" thought Jason, confusion on his face. Nevertheless, he decided to see what their offer was before he left, annoyed that his time might have been ultimately wasted.
Jason at least hoped Elizabeth would be at least more tolerable than his next client.
"Ok...let me see here," said Elizabeth, taking out what Jason quickly identified as a contract. "In exchange for your investment, we can promise you a reasonable stake in our business and a rather large return on your investment" started Elizabeth. She then mouthed a few words, Jason still feeling irritated at Elizabeth.
"I'll have to look it over myself," thought Jason, wondering if Elizabeth was trying to swindle him. Still, he decided to wait and hear her out.
"The only condition is that we need your cash investment immediately, like right now" finished Elizabeth, her expression unchanging.
"May I check the contract please?" asked Jason, his mind still trying to work out if there was anything amiss. However, deep down, he was feeling rather excited at the proposition.
"By all means" replied Elizabeth, rolling the paper over to Jason who stared down at the paper as if he was interrogating it. He browsed the contract deeper and deeper, trying to find any potential loopholes or cons that could be used against him.
To his surprise, there wasn't any...it was perfectly legitimate.
"Ok, I agree to your terms," said Jason. He noticed Elizabeth passing him a pen as he picked it up. He noticed the design was rather well made, resembling a bird of some kind...possibly a raven.
Still, Jason pushed it out of his mind as he signed on the dotted line, committing himself to what would hopefully be a good investment.
"Fabulous sir," said Elizabeth, smiling as Jason passed her his briefcase. She placed it behind the desk as she recalled Jason's earlier remark. Her expression soured internally and, despite what the others had told her to do, desired to get even.
"Would you like to have a tour of the Zoo to celebrate the occasion?" asked Elizabeth.
Jason considered the offer. He checked his watch, recalling he had another meeting to attend. However, he was mustering up the motivation to tolerate his client. Besides, the contract he had signed made him a major investor in the Zoo. He might as well see what his money was going towards.
"Sure," said Jason simply, standing up as Elizabeth did the same. He checked his watch once more, content that he had time to look around before heading to his next meeting. The pair of them walked out of the Office and back out into the Main Hallway.
It was then Elizabeth began to give Jason a tour of the Zoo and what they hoped to do with it in the future.
"Allow me to show you one of our newest additions...Jasmine and Derek!" announced Elizabeth, her excitement surprisingly genuine. Jason actually found it a little off-putting as he looked into the panther enclosure, curious to see them for himself.
"Fascinating," thought Jason, his eyes intrigued as he stared directly at one of the Panthers. He almost swore that the male panther was smiling at him. He stepped back for a moment, confused at the situation.
"You ok?" asked Elizabeth, her tone hiding condescension.
"Yes, I'm fine," replied Jason. In reality, Jason was weirded out but immediately calmed himself. He didn't want to risk ruining his relationship with Elizabeth and by extension, the rest of the Zoo.
Trying to change the topic, Jason looked at Elizabeth before asking "What animal do you hope to add to the Zoo next?."
Elizabeth looked back at Jason. His remark about her size played in her head once more. She still felt anger towards Jason for that. Her eyes widened slightly as an idea came into her mind.
"You think size matters? I'll show you size" thought Elizabeth, resisting the urge to smile evilly. Instead, she gave a sweet and endearing smile.
"We were hoping to add a giraffe to our collection which I feel will happen very soon" replied Elizabeth. "Why don't you come to have a look for yourself?" said Elizabeth, guiding Jason towards the enclosure.
Before Jason could question the situation, the pair were in front of the giraffe enclosure.
The enclosure was large enough, even for a giraffe to move comfortably as it expanded around forming a large woodland enclosure. There were tall trees with which giraffes could eat the leaves, there was a small lake from which the giraffe could wash in or take a drink. Finally, there was an open-air rooftop in the enclosure which allowed natural sunlight to come in.
"This enclosure is spectacular," said Jason, eying the enclosure with intrigue and oddly, a sense of wonder.
"Would you like to have a look inside?" asked Elizabeth.
Jason thought about her offer for a moment, wondering whether he should accept it. He took another look at his watch, noticing he still had time before his meeting.
Besides, he could use a little more fun in his life.
"Ok," said Jason, nodding in agreement. Elizabeth pointed him towards the entrance of the enclosure. She opened the door as Jason walked inside, closing it after him. Unknown to Jason, the door had locked once Elizabeth had closed it.
Jason had a look around the enclosure. It seemed even nicer inside for reasons he couldn't yet understand. Unknown to Jason, the magic of the enclosure was already beginning to affect him.
As Jason explored the enclosure, he began to feel very, very warm. He walked to the door and tried to open it.
To his discovery, it was locked tight.
"Hello?" called out Jason to no response. "Elizabeth?" called out Jason again, wondering where she could have gone to...or why the door was locked.
"She must have gone to attend to business...she'll be back surely..." said Jason, deciding he might as well not waste energy standing until she returned.
After all, it wasn't like she could keep him trapped here.
As Jason sat down on the grass within the enclosure, he noticed the water running in the lake. For some reason that he didn't understand it looked appealing to him. It was alluring as Jason couldn't help but feel tempted.
"Wow that water is so pristine" mumbled Jason, crawling towards its tranquil beauty. He began to feel parched in his throat as he got ever closer to the liberating water. As he reached its watery depths, he got a quick glance at his reflection.
To his confusion, only a giraffe stared back at him.
"Wait...what?" thought Jason, shaking his head. That seemed to do the trick as the image faded away, replaced by his own. The temptation of the water was now impossible to ignore as his sense of thirst returned to him full force.
"Good enough to drink," said Jason as his hands cupped some of the water within. His hands began to tingle as Jason paid no notice, figuring it was just due to the temperature of the water.
He began to drink the water noisily and greedily as his hands began to feel very strange. He felt as if his fingers were being forced together as they became dry and stiff. Unconsciously, he attempted to separate his fingers but found himself unable to. His ears also began to change, new antlers growing from his head. His hair began to shift, starting its journey to becoming a new giraffe mane. Eventually, his hands had finished slowly forming into a pair of front hooves as more changes began to come over Jason.
Jason suddenly felt a pull in his neck as he realised that his neck was increasing in length. It stretched and stretched as the water continued to travel down his throat. He paid it little mind, oblivious to his new front hooves. Despite the additional difficulty he was having in getting the water, he resolved to plunge his head into it. He continued to slurp the water noise as further changes came over him.
As Jason continued to drink from the lake, his body began to bulk up. It pressed against the front of his business suit, putting further pressure on it. It pushed and pushed as Jason's body continued shifting into animalistic proportions. Eventually, the front of his suit couldn't take it anymore as it ripped. Rags fell to the ground as his tie joined them. Fortunately, his trousers had remained intact, preserving his modesty as well as a few scraps from his jacket and shirt. Jason began to feel a slight itch, small clumps of fur beginning to grow over his body.
Meanwhile, something new was developing just above Jason's rear, wriggling within the confines of his trousers...as if wishing to be free. Jason, oblivious to what was happening to his body, felt his new tail push a hole in his trousers. It wriggled around, growing a tuft of brown hair as it embraced its newfound freedom. It continued to waft around aimlessly, Jason clearly oblivious to his new limb.
It was then Jason felt cramping in his ankles. They seemed to be adjusting, changing posture and shape. This tore part of his suit trousers as they were being pushed to their limit. Nevertheless, Jason continued to obliviously drink from the water even as he changed posture, all that mattered was continuing to drink. Even a tingling in his feet did nothing to dissuade Jason from what he was doing. His toes began to crunch together, hardening as keratin formed over them. Nerves began to dissolve as Jason soon had a pair of rear hooves to match his front hooves.
Jason began to feel very, very strange as his body began to bulk up to new animalistic proportions. His weight ballooned up considerably, the remnants of his suit no longer being able to hold on as they finally snapped away. Jason's clothes were reduced to rags as he was now completely nude. Fortunately, his fur had been growing all this time, preserving his modesty even if it would now permanently identify him as the giraffe he was becoming.
Jason felt a sudden sense of vertigo as his body adjusted to his new animalistic proportions. It was almost enough to snap him out of his trance. Unfortunately, a glance at the water caused him to be drawn in once more. His vertigo reduced before disappearing completely as he bent his long giraffe neck into the water.
Jason continued to drink even as his face began to push out, his eyes moved towards the side of his head as the middle of his face pushed out, forming a muzzle. He then also felt his ears lengthening, moving to the top of his head as they became complete Giraffe ears. His hair thinned out, ceasing to exist as it was replaced with a mane. His antlers grew to their full animal length as Jason's considerably improved hearing swore he heard... laughing.
As Jason finally finished drinking from the lake, he felt the final change coming over him. He could feel something lengthening in his mouth. He couldn't tell what it was until it came right out of his mouth. His tongue was now much longer and darker than it should be as it went back into his muzzle which was now large enough to contain it.
The new giraffe looked around, hearing a distant noise. It sounded almost like a...whistle. His mind began to feel foggy, as his already faint memories of being human, of having ever been human began to fade from his mind.
His eyes darkened, losing all signs of human intellect as Jason's transformation completed physically and mentally. Now, where only moments ago, the former human was now a fine male Giraffe.
Jason looked around his new enclosure, noticing the appetising water. It bent down to take a drink from it. It slurped the water greedily, feeling rather parched before bellowing into the sky as if to announce to the world that he was a giraffe.
Jason then noticed the appetising leaves he saw on the trees within his enclosure. He walked towards a tree and wrapped his long tongue around a branch. Jason then let his tongue pull the branch causing tasty leaves to enter his mouth. He did it again, chewing from another branch as he continued to savour his meal.
It was at this point Elizabeth returned. She noticed the newfound giraffe munching on the leaves within his enclosure. She couldn't help but laugh hysterically. Jason turned his head to face the source of the noise as he noticed Elizabeth staring directly at him.
Jason watched as Elizabeth pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket. She waved the paper in front of the giraffe condescendingly, treating the giraffe how one would treat an infant.
"Thanks for the investment..." said Elizabeth, beginning to rip the paper in two. "...but I don't think that giraffes have ownership of a Zoo" continued Elizabeth as she fully tore through it, letting the scraps flutter in the wind. Jason had to admit the paper appeared rather...tasty.
Elizabeth laughed once more as she began to walk away. She looked back once more at the former human now giraffe before finally saying "shouldn't have called me a small girl".
The new giraffe looked at the woman in confusion as she walked away. He felt he could recognise her from somewhere...but the immediate thought didn't come to the giraffe. Therefore, it turned away and continued to eat the leaves on the trees.
After all, it couldn't waste time not feeding.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth smiled as she walked away from the enclosure. She had already anticipated that Rebecca would give her a bollocking for her actions today. Nevertheless, she didn't care, only interested in her current needs and wants.
Besides, what difference would one little investor have made anyway?
"I know Charlotte will take my side anyway...she's always stood up for me," thought Elizabeth as she continued to walk back to the Office, deciding to spend some free time at the Zoo before heading back to 'face the music.'
"No one insults my height," thought Elizabeth, getting a small glance at herself. She quickly dismissed the thought, deciding she could do with a little rest and relaxation.
"No one..." finished Elizabeth, letting Jason fade from her mind. She shook her head, dismissing the notion that she might have made a mistake.
After all, what could possibly go wrong?
