"I...I just don't know what came over me" mumbled Rebecca as she sat back in her chair within the Office. She stared down at the paper in front of her which, if things went to plan, would become a poster to promote the Zoo.
After all, the New Zoo could use some good publicity..., especially after the controversy regarding those school children.
Rebecca held her head in her hands as she felt another migraine coming along. She felt a range of emotions wash over her as memories of earlier that day played again and again within her mind.
"It should've been simple" thought Rebecca, annoyance creeping into her mind. She quickly suppressed it, not wanting to risk a repeat of her earlier incident.
That Morning:
"Ok Charlotte, do you understand why we're here?" questioned Rebecca, her tone rather condescending as she stared at Charlotte.
Fortunately, Charlotte's glare was obscured by her glasses as she turned to respond to Rebecca.
"Of course Rebecca" replied Charlotte simply. "We're here to make sure the installation of the newly planned intercom system was successful" continued Charlotte. "After all, it will be useful for whatever future plans you must have" finished Charlotte, barely holding back her sarcasm.
However, Charlotte was, in fact, curious about Rebecca's ambitions regarding the New Zoo.
What exactly was Rebecca's endgame?
"Maybe if I suck up to her a little more, she might actually tell me," thought Charlotte sarcastically. However, she pushed the thought down as she returned her attention to Rebecca. "I suppose we should go in?" said Charlotte, her tone rather condescending as she walked through the stone archways, entering the Main Hallway.
Rebecca, having no response, followed Charlotte. She felt a sense of dread in the air. She was at a loss as she began to head towards the nearby Ticket Office.
"Our Landlord said the portable communicator for the intercom system would be here," said Rebecca out loud, noticing Charlotte walking towards her. Rebecca opened the door, entering the small office as she noticed 3 small devices on the desk, each separated by a relatively considerable distance alongside a note.
Rebecca unfolded the note as she eyed it intently. "Please see the portable devices for use with the intercom" mumbled Rebecca, eying the devices before her. "To connect to the intercom, just press the red button on the side" continued Rebecca, complying as she heard a loud sound emanating.
Clearly, there had been some interference.
"Testing...testing," said Rebecca, talking into the speaker of the device as she heard the louder voice over the intercom. She smiled as she read further on, noticing there was more on the note.
"We've also connected this to the Security Room as requested...just talk into the newly installed microphone to connect to the intercom" finished Rebecca, nodding as she felt satisfied that their Landlord and whoever had installed the intercom had complied with her request.
Rebecca grabbed the three devices as she walked out of the door of the Ticket Office. She noticed Charlotte holding her ears as she smiled slightly, finding some satisfaction in her companion's pain.
"Looks like the test was a success" stated Rebecca, throwing one of the intercom devices toward Charlotte.
"Agreed" started Charlotte, grabbing the intercom device. "If your test was trying to make me deaf" argued Charlotte, her tone rather irritated.
"Oh, walk it off" replied Rebecca, her tone dismissive towards Charlotte's plight. "After all, we have other things to do today," continued Rebecca. She began to walk away from Charlotte who stared irritably at her for a second longer.
"I'm guessing it's time to develop the poster?" asked Charlotte, her expression becoming neutral once more as she caught up to Rebecca.
"Of course" replied Rebecca, instinctively reaching for her camera around her neck. "After all, we can't afford to waste the opportunity our Landlord has given us regarding the local printing company" continued Rebecca, holding her camera excitedly.
Rebecca began to pick up her pace, eager to get started on getting good quality photos of the animals for the poster. Her shutterbug tendencies were clearly on show as Charlotte watched the distance between them increase.
"To be fair...she does have a point about the printing company" mumbled Charlotte. "If only my parents could see me now..." thought Charlotte, her mind beginning to wander.
"No...not now" mumbled Charlotte, dismissing the memories as she began to pick up the pace.
After all, she still had a job to do.
Later that Afternoon:
"No, no, No!" shouted Rebecca, chastising Charlotte for what felt like the millionth time. Charlotte stumbled again as the flash of the camera she was holding engaged. "You're angling the camera poorly against the light and why is your flash on? Are you trying to cause red-eye in the photos?!" continued Rebecca, her rant ringing against Charlotte's ears.
"Perhaps I'd do better if you stop shouting at me" snarked Charlotte, struggling to hold in her irritants anymore.
Rebecca's eccentricities were beginning to get on her nerves.
It should have been simple. Charlotte had followed Rebecca as she had taken pictures of the relevant animals for the posters. However, for whatever reason, Rebecca had insisted Charlotte take the picture of the peafowl.
Hence, Charlotte and Rebecca were outside the temporary storage enclosure where Megan and Chris were being stored until the developing Aviary was completed. A large donation from a wealthy family had made such a development possible. However, Charlotte, at this current moment in time, couldn't care less.
Charlotte shook her head, angling the camera once more. She noticed Rebecca was staring off into space, seemingly in her own little world. "What...what is she staring at?" wondered Charlotte, noticing Rebecca seemed to be staring rather...intimately at Chris.
Charlotte could only watch as she noticed Rebecca seemed to be...changing. Charlotte watched as something appeared to be growing from Rebecca's rear. Then, long black feathers began to grow out of it, as if they were trying to appear...alluring as if Rebecca was trying to court something.
"Or...someone?" thought Charlotte, eyeing back at Chris as she resisted the urge to laugh. "Perhaps I can use this to my advantage" continued Charlotte, holding back her smile as she felt her hard work finally paying off.
Charlotte had finally found Rebecca's weakness. One that she intended to exploit.
"Rebecca? What's going on?" said Charlotte, feigning worry in her tone.
"Cha...Charlotte?" replied Rebecca, snapping back to reality. She felt strange as she looked back, noticing the long feathers. A sense of panic came over her as she realised what had happened...and who had witnessed it.
"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" thought Rebecca internally, holding her hand out as it glowed green. The feathers quickly faded as the pointed nub developing from her rear returned to normal. She stared back at Charlotte, unable to tell what she was thinking behind her companion's thick glasses.
"Charlotte...I" started Rebecca.
"Don't worry about it...you can trust me" replied Charlotte, her tone warm and understanding. She turned away, planning on finally getting a picture of the peafowl for the poster.
Rebecca felt somewhat uncomfortable as she doubted Charlotte's sincerity. However, she felt little choice but to trust her.
After all, her secret was out.
Rebecca heard a flash as Charlotte had successfully taken a picture of the peafowl. She presented the picture to Rebecca who had to admit, it wasn't half bad.
"Now, I'll leave you to plan the poster," said Charlotte, beginning to walk away.
Rebecca watched, unsure of whether she could trust Charlotte but also aware of how little choice she had in the matter.
Rebecca only hoped that, after everything she'd done to split the pair up, Charlotte was on her side.
Returning to the Present:
Coming back to reality, Rebecca looked down at the developing poster in front of her.
"Not much left now," thought Rebecca, eyeing down at the sections that still needed to be done. She noticed the reptile and marine sections were blank as she fumed slightly in her seat.
"Anastasia proved rather infuriating," thought Rebeca, still wondering just what had happened for her to end up as she did. Unfortunately, due to the Zoo's rat, Rebecca didn't have any footage to properly investigate.
"I guess I'll need Elizabeth's...help with the marine animals" mused Rebecca reluctantly. She couldn't quite understand the marine animals. They always seemed to behave when Elizabeth was around. This confused Rebecca as they should be obedient to her.
"Perhaps Elizabeth is the rat after all?" wondered Rebecca, recalling the missing footage from the previous week. Nevertheless, Rebecca shook her head, deciding to focus on the poster for the time being.
"Now...who should we get to be at the centre of the poster?" thought Rebecca, remembering her intention to have a model at the centre.
Rebecca desired someone important, someone, famous for the centre of the poster. She had decided on a model as it seemed like the most convenient way to get photos for the poster without too many questions being asked.
"Besides, if they ask too many questions...one less model won't go amiss" continued Rebecca, smiling as she considered the possibility of a new addition to her Zoo upon completion of the photoshoot.
Rebecca picked up the nearby phone, confident that this would be a simple job.
Later that Evening:
It turned out to not be a simple job.
Rebecca put down the phone, another rejection from an agent. She groaned within her chair, akin to a spoiled child not getting what she wanted.
"I...I didn't realise our reputation was that poor" said Rebecca, feeling rather tired by this point. As it turned out, a lot of models or agents had rejected the offer due to the Zoo's reputation.
The most common incident mentioned was the disappearance of the school children. It was fortunate Elizabeth wasn't there, otherwise, Rebecca could have killed her due to her current mood.
Which was being further complicated by Rebecca's inability to force the mental image of her mate...Chris from her mind. Her scattered mind caused Rebecca to feel a sense of building arousal which was becoming harder to ignore.
It was at this point that Charlotte walked into the Office. She eyed Rebecca in the chair as she noticed Rebecca's frazzled state.
Clearly, Rebecca had too much on her mind to properly focus.
"Let me focus on finding the model Rebecca, you look like you could use a break," said Charlotte, her tone assertive. Rebecca stared at her, perplexed at Charlotte's newfound assertiveness before rising from the chair in the Office.
Deep down, Rebecca knew Charlotte was right.
"You're right...you're right," said Rebecca as she sighed heavily. She placed her hands on the desk, breathing heavily as sweat began to run down her head. She was finding it increasingly harder to take her mind off of Chris. Charlotte seemed to notice this as she walked up to Rebecca, concern etched on her face.
Unknown to Rebecca, this concern was fake.
"Go home, you've clearly got Chris on your mind and we don't need another peahen for the Zoo," said Charlotte, saying the last part in jest.
Rebecca stared at her, glaring for a moment before her gaze softened, seeming to get the joke as she turned to face the exit of the Office.
It appeared that Charlotte was in fact, on her side.
"Understood" started Rebecca, smiling warmly as she walked towards the Office Door. "I trust you Charlotte" continued Rebecca, her smile widening as Charlotte began to escort Rebecca towards the stone archways which formed the entrance.
A few moments later, Rebecca got inside a taxi that had been called. As it drove away, Charlotte walked back into the Main Hallway as it was time to do what she did best.
It was time to plan.
Within the Office:
"Now then...who should we choose?" wondered Charlotte, eying the various choices of model. She hoped to be done with this soon so she could conduct her own investigation. Perhaps she could find out the cause of the strange phenomena occurring within the Zoo.
Perhaps, she could find a way to harness it herself.
For now, however, Charlotte was planning on finding a model. She hoped to be more successful than Rebecca had been. Therefore, she had immediately discounted the higher paid models, aware that they would be more likely to reject the offer so she aimed lower.
"Here's one who might work" wondered Charlotte, noticing the name of the model within the list. She appeared to have an infamous reputation which caused Charlotte to think that no one would care if she disappeared.
After all, Charlotte could use a new addition to her Petting Zoo.
The name of the model was Vannessa Walgreves. Charlotte found very little modelling work she had been involved in as Vannessa's photo made her seem attractive enough to use for the photoshoot.
"Now it's time to bait the trap" mumbled Charlotte, picking up the phone as she let it ring.
After a few moments, the phone line picked up.
"Hello, Jeanette speaking, assistant to Vannessa Walgreves, the best model this side of town" introduced the other end of the line. Unknown to Charlotte, Jeannette had to hold back a sigh when saying this. She felt the introduction was embarrassing but she had to say it as part of her job description.
"Hello, this is Charlotte, one of the managers from the developing New Zoo. The reason for my call is that we were hoping that your boss would be able to come over, maybe tomorrow for a photo shoot for our promotional poster" replied Charlotte, waiting patiently for a response.
Charlotte heard Jeannette talking to someone in the background. Charlotte couldn't make out any of what was being said but she immediately heard rummaging and shuffling from the other line as the phone was picked up once more.
"Hello!!" boomed a loud, slightly obnoxious voice. Charlotte immediately dropped the phone from her ear, startled by the loud noise before quickly picking it up again. The new voice on the other line was obviously different to Jeannette as Charlotte guessed that she was now talking to Vannessa.
"FYI, My name's Vannessa by the way. I heard you were looking for a model to promote your zoo" said Vannessa, her obnoxious tone emanating down the phone. "Lucky for you I can be available any time you need," said Vannessa, breathing heavily as if she was out of breath.
Meanwhile, on the other end, Charlotte was smiling as she prepared to bait her trap.
"Would tomorrow work? Sometime in the early afternoon perhaps?" asked Charlotte.
"Of course, duh," said Vannessa, mentally backpedalling as the words came out of her mouth. She hoped her response hadn't affected her chances.
After all, Vannessa needed this job. Something, anything to resurge her failing career.
"Then it's settled then, see you tomorrow afternoon" replied Charlotte, smiling maliciously at having set her trap perfectly. "Oh, one more thing" continued Charlotte, feeling she'd still have Vannessa's full attention. "We have the photography equipment so you just need to supply yourself and bring your assistant so we can discuss the potential of follow-up assignments afterwards," said Charlotte.
"Of...of course" replied Vanessa simply, feeling words fail her as she heard the other line going dead.
Vannessa, oblivious to the fact she had been conned, put the phone down and looked at Jeannette.
"Pack my best supplies for tomorrow Jeanette, I need tomorrow to go perfectly!" demanded Vannessa, posing dramatically. "What are you looking at me like that for?!" asked Vannessa, noticing Jeannette giving her an odd look.
"Nothing...it's nothing" mumbled Jeannette, wishing she was confident enough to stand up for herself.
"It better be," replied Vannessa, annoyance present in her voice. "Now" started Vannessa, throwing a small pump at her assistant. "Go pack my supplies!" demanded Vannessa once more, walking away from her lowly assistant.
Jeannette looked at Vannessa's back, shaking her head for a brief moment.
"Perhaps I should quit...but who else would have me?" wondered Jeannette, her low self-esteem creeping up on her once more. "I...I better go and pack those supplies" continued Jeannette, feeling rather breathless for a moment.
In regards to their latest shoot, something definitely seemed wrong. However, in her current mental state, Jeannette was struggling to care.
Little did Jeannette know, a new job opportunity would soon present itself to her.
Within the Security Room:
Charlotte, content regarding her success with Vannessa, was now within the Security Room. As she sat back in the large chair, she eyed the array of monitors as she knew what she needed to do.
"Ok, it's time to investigate these magical anomalies," said Charlotte, content in her solitude as she decided to start with the footage from earlier that week with Erica. "And perhaps...I'll find a way to control them" continued Charlotte, staring intently as the footage played before her.
Charlotte studied the footage intently, it coming to the part where Erica had almost managed to escape. It was fortunate that it didn't work as Charlotte was confused as to why Jason behaved so strangely.
"Perhaps...another angle will have the answers I seek" wondered Charlotte, pressing a red button on the console before her. With that, the monitors shifted, focusing on the cameras within the giraffe enclosure.
Still nothing.
"Another time perhaps?" thought Charlotte, turning a dial on the console as she noticed the time stamp going backwards. Charlotte continued to cycle it back, slower and slower as she eyed intently, trying to find an answer to her conundrum.
Little did Charlotte know, she would soon get her wish.
"Wait...what's that?" muttered Charlotte, noticing something appeared to be flickering. Charlotte pushed a nearby button, pausing the footage as her curiosity continued to grow.
She pressed a blue button, causing the footage to play frame by frame. Charlotte watched intently, absorbing every detail like a sponge. She then slammed her hand down on the pause button as she noticed a peculiar sight.
It appeared to be a green glow within the giraffe enclosure.
"That's strange...is that the cause of the magical anomalies I've witnessed?" wondered Charlotte. She twisted a nearby dial, watching as the camera zoomed in on the mysterious green glow. She squinted her eyes as she could barely make out a strange outline within the glow.
It almost resembled a human woman.
"How very...odd," thought Charlotte, noticing the flickering the glow was doing appeared to grow in intensity. Eventually, the monitor was blinded by the glow, creating a blindspot and halting Charlotte's investigation.
"This needs further study," said Charlotte. While she would prefer to continue, it was getting rather late into the evening. After all, Charlotte knew she had a long day ahead of her tomorrow and would rather get a few hours in her bed rather than in the chair she was seated in.
"Why am I worried? It's not like I'm going to forget" thought Charlotte, making a quick note of the timestamp to revisit as she stood up from her chair. She then exited the Security Room, planning on leaving the New Zoo.
Until tomorrow at least.
The Following Morning:
Charlotte, alongside Rebecca, had entered the Main Hallway to prepare for that afternoon when Vannessa and Jeannette were due to arrive.
"Ok, I'm dealing with Vannessa'' stated Charlotte, her tone assertive as it took Rebecca momentarily off guard. "I need you to occupy Jeannette while I deal with Vannessa" continued Charlotte as she noticed Rebecca nodding in agreement. "I'll be taking her to the Petting Zoo for the photoshoot so avoid that area" finished Charlotte as she waited for a response from Rebecca.
"Fair enough, I'll give her a tour around the Zoo but I'll avoid the peafowl to minimise the risk of another episode," said Rebecca. She stared at Charlotte, trying to gauge a reaction after the events of yesterday.
To her annoyance and disappointment, Charlotte still seemed very nonplussed about it.
"Right, I need to go and prepare for the photoshoot later on so I'll be leaving you for now" stated Charlotte, her tone assertive as she began to walk away.
Rebecca watched her go, wondering what to do with her spare time. It was then she decided it would be best to check the footage of the vandals breaking in within the Security Room.
And ensure it was still encrypted.
"After all, that green glow is certainly peculiar or perhaps the cheetah has something to do with all this?" thought Rebecca, her mind in a daze as she stumbled through the Main Hallway. She shook her head, trying to rid the invasive thoughts of Chris from her mind.
And how jealous she was of Megan.
That Afternoon:
Vannessa walked into the Main Hallway, latte in hand as she took another sip from the frothy beverage. She lowered her tacky designer sunglasses as she looked around, noticing the various animals scattered around her.
"Oh, I'll never get used to this smell" moaned Vanness, holding her nose as the smell threatened to overwhelm her. It made Vannessa feel sick to her stomach as she could only imagine the animals wallowing in their own filth.
In reality, Vannessa was just being a drama queen...again.
"Jeannette? Where is that lowly excuse for an assistant?" mumbled Vanessa, shifting her dark brown hair from her eyes. She looked around, irritated that her assistant was nowhere in sight. She stomped one foot on the ground, comparable to a child having a tantrum.
"Seriously? She needs to cut down on the cake and use the treadmill more often" said Vannessa, noticing Jeannette in the distance. She clicked her fingers, indicating to her assistant to hurry up.
"Hurry up" stated Vannessa firmly, her glare making Jeannette feel small. She walked slowly, struggling to carry all of Vanessa's equipment. Despite what Vannessa had been told over the phone the night before, she still insisted on packing extravagantly.
Jeannette stopped momentarily, having caught up to Vannessa and now needing a quick moment to catch her breath. Jeannette hoped for a quick moment of peace but as she noticed Vannessa's deepening glare, she knew that was wishful thinking.
"What kept you?!" shouted Vannessa, her tone frustrated and irritated. "This is why I keep telling you to fucking lose weight! How can I trust you to be a competent assistant if you cannot even keep up with me when I'm walking?" finished Vannessa, spinning her air around dramatically as she turned away from her lowly assistant.
"Why...why do I even bother anymore?" thought Jeannette, sighing inwardly as she resigned herself to another one of Vannessa's many jabs at her weight.
Jeannette could recall the day she had met Vannessa. Despite warnings about Vannessa's reputation, Jeannette ignored the warning signs as she was desperate for money. Hence, she accepted the role of Vannessa's assistant. Despite Vannessa's infamy earning her the title of 'The Viper', Jeannette didn't think that Vannessa would be this toxic.
Working with Vannessa was always difficult as she was convinced that she would one day be famous. The reality, however, was that she was a very minor model and never going to hit it big.
"I guess the only thing she excels at...is insulting me," thought Jeannette bitterly as she hung her head in defeat. She could feel sweat dripping down from her forehead, some being soaked up by her blond hair.
Still, these supplies weren't going to move themselves.
Jeannette took a deep breath and picked up the supplies once more, moving towards Vannessa at a minor pace.
Fortunately, Vannessa was too much in her own little world to notice Jeannette falling behind once again. She took another sip from her latte as she looked down at her dark purple dress and black heels. She smiled as she was always fond of this particular dress and felt it complemented her features wonderfully.
It was then Vannessa noticed her cup was empty as she mindlessly threw it over her head. A small 'bump' indicated it hit something as Vannessa turned around.
"Ah, Jeannette," started Vannessa, taking a glance at her watch. "Make sure to throw that cup away...you could use the exercise," said Vannessa, her malicious tone emanating through the Hallway as she noticed two people in uniform appeared to be approaching.
"Ah...finally," thought Vannessa, feeling her patience beginning to wear thin. She gave barely a second thought to Jeannette who had just disposed of her latte cup in a nearby bin. Jeannette was curious, eying the uniformed pair with suspicion.
Did something seem...off?
"Good afternoon, my name's Charlotte and I welcome you to the New Zoo," said Charlotte, eyeing Vannessa as she held a hand out for Vannessa to shake.
Vannessa complied, gripping Charlotte's hand as they shook. Vannessa gave a soft, sweet smile which Jeannette had become quite familiar with.
"I'd just like to thank you again for this opportunity...for both of us," said Vannessa, her tone full of fake sincerity as she motioned towards Jeannette. She smiled back at the pair, not wanting to jeopardise her chances.
Charlotte took one look at Vannessa, squinting her eyes slightly which went unnoticed behind her large glasses. "She's faking it," thought Charlotte simply, as she looked back towards Jeannette.
It was then Charlotte noticed the large stack of supplies that Vannessa had brought with her.
"Why... have you brought those?" asked Charlotte confusingly, trying to make some sense of the woman in front of her. "I told you that they wouldn't be necessary" continued Charlotte, her tone slightly irritated.
"They will be needed for you to get my good side," said Vannessa smugly as she smiled at Charlotte. She gave an exaggerated wink before posing, trying her best to show off her body.
However, Charlotte thought the performance Vannessa was giving was embarrassing. It almost seemed that transforming her would put her out of her misery.
In an attempt to save everyone's time and sanity Charlotte looked over to Rebecca, prompting her into action.
"Rebecca?" started Charlotte, noticing Rebecca in position." Take Jeannette for a tour of the Zoo to discuss arrangements for follow-up work, while I will take Vannessa away for the photo shoot," said Charlotte.
"Understood" replied Rebecca simply, walking away as she motioned Jeannette to follow. Jeannette complied, content to be getting some peace from Vannessa...if only for a while.
"I guess we should prepare," said Charlotte, walking in a different direction to Rebecca. Vannessa followed, internally overjoyed at the prospect of having her big break.
Little did Vannessa know, she was about to be sorely mistaken.
At the Petting Zoo:
Vannessa and Charlotte arrived at the Petting Zoo as Vannessa looked up at the entrance sign. She raised an eyebrow as her eyes narrowed at the sign.
"Are you sure this is the best place? The sign seems rather tacky" asked Vannessa, her irritated tone sounding like scratching against a blackboard.
Charlotte held her tongue. She had already decided about what Vannessa would become. Her behaviour today just reinforced her choice as the right one.
She acted like an ass, hence she would become one.
"Yes," said Charlotte simply, walking into the Petting Zoo as Vannessa followed her. "I've set up within a large pasture for the photos" explained Charlotte, ignoring Vannessa wrinkling her nose at the filth surrounding her.
"I...I can't wait to be paid" thought Vannessa, finding the pungent smell to be almost unbearable. She would definitely need a shower later on just to wash the stench out.
Regardless, Vannessa followed Charlotte as the pair arrived at the large pasture in question. Vannessa noticed the grass underfoot as the pasture was surrounded by a large wooden fence. She also noticed the various equipment set up. While it was less than she expected, Vannessa just wanted this to be over with as the smell of the surrounding animals was becoming too much to bear.
"I set our equipment up here due to the large space available. I plan to use this section as a place to bring the larger animals together for children once we open," said Charlotte, borderline talking to herself as Vannessa's attention was focused elsewhere.
"Vannessa?" asked Charlotte, noticing Vannessa snap out of whatever trance she was in.
"Yes, what is it?" replied Vannessa, not caring about how she had just ignored Charlotte.
"Just enter the pasture so we can begin" stated Charlotte, noticing Vannessa nod in agreement. She then entered the pasture, noticing the red barn in the distance which she paid little mind to.
Vannessa noticed Charlotte walking off to one side. She eyed the camera that Charlotte had picked up as she looked curiously.
Unknown to Vannessa, the camera was magical. Charlotte stared into it curiously as she was confused as to how Rebecca had such a thing.
"Perhaps...it relates to her endgame?" thought Charlotte, dismissing the thought once more as she realised she had a new donkey to add.
Time to make Vannessa's outside match her inside.
"Anytime today would be good," said Vannessa, annoyed as she crossed her arms like an immature brat.
"Ok...let's get started" replied Charlotte, lifting the camera. She aimed it at Vannessa, giving Vannessa a chance to pose before she took the first photo.
It flashed wildly, its magic now claiming Vannessa as it would prepare her for her new life ahead. Vannessa could feel the magic seeping into her as she felt a warmth in her chest. She looked down momentarily, noticing nothing as she blamed the feeling on the open sun. She then turned back to Charlotte, giving her her full attention.
As Charlotte took another photo, the sensation within Vannessa was beginning to get stronger as she began to feel genuinely uncomfortable. She could feel something strange happening as several sudden thoughts began to cross her mind.
Vannessa could recall previous memories. She recalled her shows, the opportunities she had absolutely smashed. She recalled getting several ribbons to the envy of the other jennies. She particularly remembered that handsome jack in the pen opposite. She could only imagine how long his...
"Wait...where did...that come from?" thought Vannessa, snapping out of her daze. She blushed slightly as she realised that she was a bit wet in her panties. She barely had time to think as she noticed another flash from the camera.
"Wait...I'm not ready!" shouted Vannessa, her tone flustered due to her current predicament.
"But you're doing soooo good Vannessa...or would it be Jenny now?" said Charlotte smugly, looking at the changing woman condescendingly.
"Wait...Jenny?" replied Vannessa confusingly, feeling a tingling in her hands. It was disorienting to the changing model as she felt her hands beginning to cramp up. "Wait...something feels strange about my hands" continued Vannessa, still blushing as her arousal was being annoyingly persistent.
"But of course...jennies have hooves do they not?" replied Charlotte, stating the fact as if it was obvious.
"But I'm not a..." started Vannessa, her voice trailing off as another memory came to the forefront of her mind. Her eyes glazed over slightly as Vannessa's mind drifted away from her.
Vannessa recalled herself within a large pasture, surrounded by many other jennies. It had been another day at the ranch that she had called home. Grazing was commonplace as she had overheard through her long ears how it was almost time for breeding.
Vannessa, still locked within her daydream, didn't notice as her fingers became stiffer. They forced themselves together, combining into one large mass as hard rock began to coat them. The nail then began to smooth out, becoming rather pristine if still animalistic as the developing jenny's front hooves were now complete.
This wasn't the only change to occur. As if in response to her daydream, Vannessa's ears began to shift and change. They stretched out, parting through her hair. They continued to grow, becoming droopy and long as they became the appropriate size for a jenny. The swivelled around automatically, acting on developing instincts which were now beginning to emerge within Vannessa's mind.
"Seems like Miss Jenny is coming along nicely," muttered Charlotte smugly as she got out her checklist, ticking off 'Donkey' as she did so.
Meanwhile, Vannessa was able to snap out of her daze. She shook her head curiously, managing to get a view of her new front hooves.
"Wait...I have hooves?" mumbled Vannessa, her human mind shouting in protest whereas her developing animal instincts were forcing it back. This left Vannessa in a state of confusion as she tried to ease herself.
After all, hadn't she always had hooves?
"Nice to see you making an ass out of yourself," said Charlotte, catching Vannessa's attention as she stared at Charlotte. This, indirectly, had the effect of allowing Vannessa's human mind to come back to the forefront as she noticed her new hooves.
"What ThAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!" brayed Vannessa, shocked at the animalistic noise she had made. She placed her hands to her mouth, still in denial of her changes as she felt a warmth developing around her rear.
"Looks like our ass is growing her tail out," said Charlotte, pointing down at Vannessa's rear. Vannessa groaned as she felt it pushing, and pushing. She cringed as the pressure began to build up, her spine forcing itself to extend as her tail finally pushed out.
It tore straight through the purple dress Vannessa had worn as it began to itch. Vannessa could only watch as little brown hairs began to develop along with it. They were the same colour as her hair as they shifted down the foreign limb. At the end of the tail, a tassel of brown fur formed. Vannessa could only watch as the tail shifted around calmly. Before she could react, Vannessa felt her mind drifting once more. By the time she realised what was happening it was already too late.
Vannessa found herself within the large pasture as she continued to graze. She could feel a heat in her nether regions as she began to bray out, feeling horny as she wished for a jack to claim her as his own. She quickly found herself unable to think of anything but as she felt a warm breath near her rear end.
It was a Jack...her Jack, ready to grant her wish.
Vannessa brayed out as her Jack penetrated her. She continued to bray in lust as he thrusted in and out of her, claiming her as his Jenny. She brayed even as they climaxed, the Jack's seed shooting directly into her for a few moments before he pulled out.
Vannessa brayed contentedly as if thanking the jack before bending back down to graze. Now, her only thought was on delivering the foals that he would be surely expecting.
As a result of her confusing wet dream, Vannessa had been oblivious to the continuing physical changes occurring to her body. She failed to notice her breasts sliding downwards, shifting and moving as they reached between her legs. Her teats began to grow and form, becoming perfect for her future foals to nurse from. Her new equine udder settled snugly between her legs as the tingling sensations spread around Vannessa's mouth.
Vannessa's face began to stretch slightly, pushing out further and further, inch by inch as it was becoming the perfect size for the jenny to be. Her nostrils shifted, enlarging as they became much larger, more equine as Vannessa began to softly breathe air through them. Her teeth began to shift, becoming much blockier as others merged into a full set of donkey teeth for all the vegetables she would be eating in her new life ahead.
"Yes, my Jack...give me foals," thought Vannessa, her arousal blinding her to her further changes as her horniness was becoming too much for her to handle. She took her hoof, rubbing it against her vagina as she felt herself building up to an orgasm.
As she rubbed, Vannessa's hair began to change. Some of it receded, pulling back into the roots as some attached itself to her neck. It began to get unruly, some shifting over her left eye as the dark brown lustre from the magnitude of beauty products Vannessa had used began to fade away. The hair took on a rougher texture as her once 'pristine' hair was now reduced to a common donkey mane.
However, Vannessa remained oblivious to this, far too invested and concentrated on building herself up to orgasm. Which was about to happen...
"HEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWW!" brayed Vannessa, not even paying attention to her new developments. She brayed like a true beast of burden as she began to feel her mind clearing up. She looked around, noticing Charlotte watching. It was as if Charlotte was resisting the urge to laugh.
"Well, I guess our little Jenny is also a little slut" said Charlotte, her tone vindictive. It then took a moment for Vannessa to realise just how much she had changed. She noticed the new muzzle in her vision, eyed her new mane and could even feel the...
"Udder?" said Vannessa confusingly, looking downwards as she did so. She saw the new equine udder as she couldn't resist the urge to scream.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!" brayed out Vannessa, the sound quickly spreading across the Petting Zoo. Through her new ears, Vannessa could hear the sheep bleating as if in response.
"What was that? I couldn't seem to understand you" said Charlotte coyly. She noticed Vanessa's look of discomfort which could only mean another change was on the way.
Vannessa tried to run, tried to escape. However, as she did so, a sudden 'SNAP!' in her back forced her to the ground. She tried to stand back up but she was firmly stuck on all fours. It was then she felt the bones in her feet begin to shift, assume a different shape.
Vannessa cringed, trying to stay quiet, lest she brayed again as she could feel her feet changing. Her toes felt as if they were falling asleep as they merged. The stumps that were forming her rear hooves planted firmly on the ground, matching her arms as Vannessa realised she was standing comfortably on all fours. The developing rear hooves began to darken, becoming coated in thick black nail as her hooves finished forming, breaking her high heels as they did so.
Vannessa closed her eyes, hoping that this was all just a bad dream. However, this just allowed her developing donkey instincts to take hold once more. She could feel herself drifting away as, despite her best efforts, appeared as if she would be being forced to experience another memory. Her eyes glazed over as the jenny took control, suppressing the human mind once more.
This time, Vannessa had found herself in what appeared to be a barn. She was laid down as she could feel that it was time. Her stomach was large, her foal almost ready to come out of her womb. The night sky outside was evident as she noticed a group of farmers surrounding her.
It was time.
Vannessa brayed as she felt her contractions commencing. She began to push, the farmers around her supporting her through the excruciating moments as her foal was beginning its descent into being born.
Eventually, as she had no conception of how long it had been, Vannessa finally managed to push out her foal. She cleaned the foal as she felt a maternal bond developing. Her foal approached one of her teats, seeking nourishment from the milk within. Vannessa allowed her foal to feed, the developing maternal bond growing ever stronger.
This was her foal, from her Jack. And she couldn't wait to go with him again.
As Vannessa was locked in her daydream, she could feel a tingling sensation coming over her body. Small hairs began to emerge, brown like Vannessa's former hair. They continued to spread as Vannessa brayed softly at the itchiness coming over her. It continued to spread, pushing against her dress which finally tore at the seams. The changing Donkey's fur now eclipsed Vannessa's fair skin as her dress gave way, falling to the ground.
"Wait...?" thought Vannessa, shaking her head as she returned to reality. It was becoming harder to think, her donkey instincts sinking deep into her mind. However, Vannessa was able to see her dress on the ground, which quickly brought on a new realisation. "HEEEE HAWWWWW!" brayed Vannessa, realising she was now completely naked.
"Settle down, donkeys don't wear clothes...remember?" said Charlotte mockingly, taking another picture of Vannessa.
Vannessa barely paid Charlotte any mind. Her new instincts kept ravaging her mind, clearly intent on reducing the vain woman to a common ass. Vannessa tried to resist, feeling burning rage at what the Zoo was doing to her.
"Oh, I'm gonna sue the pants off this zoo when I get back to normal! They're gonna pay so much-" thought Vannessa as her eyes darkened further, losing her train of thought as more and more animal instincts began to take control. Her eyes began to darken, cementing her changes as she could feel new memories forming in her mind.
"...Urg my head...what...what's going on?" thought Vannessa as her mind began to lose focus. Her animal instincts consolidated their control as her thoughts became increasingly dominated by her donkey thoughts such as food, mating and giving birth to foals.
As these thoughts became dominant, Vannessa could feel one last memory playing out. It was the day that she had been transferred from the ranch to...wherever she was. She recalled how she'd been separated...from her foal. The pair had been forcefully separated as the foal was still valuable. However, Vannessa's simplifying thoughts could only comprehend that she had been separated from her foal...her offspring.
This causes the developing Jenny no end of displeasure, rage and anger forming within her mind even as the human intellect was being snuffed out. Vannessa's eyes darkened completely, sealing her change as the newfound donkey looked around mindlessly.
"HEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWW!" brayed Vannessa, as if announcing her presence to the rest of the Petting Zoo. Her new ears swivelled slightly as she picked up some distant bleating from the nearby Sheep Pen.
"Well that's one down," said Charlotte, taking a picture of the completed donkey. As she did, the flash got Vannessa's attention. Her missing foal, still fresh in her mind, caused something within her to snap.
Vannessa brayed loudly, instinctively kicking out her rear legs in a rage. She continued to bray angrily, even though Charlotte didn't understand why. Still, just to be on the safe side, Charlotte jumped off the fence she had been sitting on, leaving the newfound Jenny in the pasture.
"I wonder what's gotten her all riled up?" wondered Charlotte, not paying it much mind. After all, Vannessa was an ass of a human so it was only fitting she'd be an ass of a donkey. She stared down at the picture of Vannessa's new form, wondering how Rebecca was doing.
"It'll certainly be interesting to see what she changes Jeannette into...as long as she avoids the peafowl enclosure," said Charlotte, minor irritation in her voice towards the end. She began to depart from the Petting Zoo, noticing Clara within the nearby Sheep Pen appearing to be enjoying herself.
"Good, she deserves a...family," thought Charlotte, feeling conflict enter her mind. It caused her expression to become demurred for a brief moment. However, it quickly faded as Charlotte remembered her priorities.
Right now...it was time to get back to business.
Elsewhere:
Speaking of business, Rebecca and Jeannette were currently walking through the Outside Section of the New Zoo. Rebecca could sense Jeannette calming, likely as a result of not having to cater to Vannessa's every whim.
"She was obviously on edge," thought Rebecca, feeling a brief sense of concern for the woman before her. Jeannette's plight was weighing down on Rebecca's conscience. Something needed to be done!
"Now the only question is...where?" wondered Rebecca, wondering where would be best. After a moment of contemplating, inspiration struck.
After all, the Reptile House still needed a star attraction. Anastasia was not going to be on the poster by default.
"Rebecca?" asked Jeannette, snapping Rebecca from the trance-like state she had placed herself in. Jeannette was eying Rebecca curiously. Although, upon further inspection, there appeared to be a sense of suspicion behind her eyes.
"Sorry about that" replied Rebecca, smiling softly in an attempt to save face. She gazed back at Jeannette, confident her plan would work. "How about we continue our tour?" offered Rebecca, beginning to walk in the direction of the Reptile House.
Jeannette stayed still for a moment, struggling to ignore her suspicions. Especially after what she had heard on the news.
"All those rumours," thought Jeannette, recalling all the missing people who had disappeared. Coming here had made her feel uncomfortable but Vannessa...insisted.
"Speaking of which" wondered Jeannette, looking down as she quickly picked up her phone. She checked her messages, noticing Vannessa hadn't replied.
"Probably still busy," thought Jeannette, shaking her head as she put her phone away. She looked up, quickening her pace as she tried to catch up to Rebecca to continue the tour.
Rebecca looked back, stopping momentarily to give Jeannette a moment to catch up. She noticed Jeannette breathing heavily from the exertion as Rebecca felt even more confident in her plan.
"Don't worry Jeannette" thought Rebecca, beginning to walk once again as Jeannette managed to keep pace. "Your weight won't be burdening you much longer" finished Rebecca, continuing to head towards the Reptile House.
At the Reptile House:
Within moments, the pair reached the Reptile House as Rebecca opened the door for Jeannette.
"Last stop on our tour," said Rebecca as she prompted Jeannette to enter. Jeannette complied as Rebecca closed the door behind her. Rebeca couldn't help but smile warmly as she prepared herself for what was to come.
"Time to have our model introduce herself," thought Rebecca, resisting the urge to chuckle. She walked down the narrow corridor of the Reptile House, paying no notice to Anastasia as she did so.
"I still need to work out how she turned out like...this," thought Rebecca, pushing the thought to the back of her mind. She returned her focus to Jeannette who was currently glancing absentmindedly into one of the nearby enclosures.
As Jeannette stared into space, she let out a breath of relief. She continued to breathe in and out, letting go of a breath she hadn't realised she was holding. Her mind wandered as she blinked, trying to hold back developing tears.
Rebecca watched Jeannette with intrigue, sensing the woman's despair. It washed over Rebecca who immediately came forward. "What is she holding back?" thought Rebecca, curious at Jeannette's sudden change in mood. She placed her hand on Jeannette's shoulder, trying to offer Jeannette some much-needed assurance. Rebecca could sense Jeannette calming slightly as she couldn't help but smile warmly.
It appeared as if Jeannette would be better off as an attraction in the Zoo.
"Feeling better?" asked Rebecca as Jeannette faced Rebecca. She looked forlorn as if she could lose her composure at any moment. She still seemed rather reluctant, as if conflicted. Rebecca could tell she wanted to say something but...the words just weren't coming.
It was at that point that Jeannette's old wounds, ones that she thought she had closed forever, forced themselves open. The pain that Jeannette thought she had locked away forever returned in full as she could no longer suppress her emotions.
Rebecca was taken completely off guard when Jeannette threw her arms around her, trapping her in a tight hug. Rebecca stood momentarily confused before returning the hug. It was then whatever resistance Jeannette still had broke. Rebecca could feel her shoulder becoming wet with Jeannette's tears as she allowed the woman to continue to bawl.
"Geez, what happened to her to warrant this reaction? Was this Vannessa's doing?" wondered Rebecca, her curiosity growing as she tried to offer Jeannette comfort. However, there was a part of Rebecca which couldn't help but...admire how cruel Vannessa must have been to break Jeannette this badly.
After what felt like forever, Jeannette began to calm down. She began to move back, in the process of regaining her composure as she mumbled out a quick apology to Rebecca.
"No need to apologise" replied Rebecca, still giving a warm smile. "Although...while you don't need to tell me, I would appreciate it if you answered me one question," asked Rebecca, noticing Jeannette had managed to compose herself.
"Ok...what's your question?" asked Jeannette, her tone sounding rather depressed.
"Why do you work for Vannessa? What do you gain from it?" asked Rebecca, her curiosity growing. She noticed Jeannette's expression shift several times for a few moments as if she was trying to think up a response.
"I work for Vannessa because she was the only one who could help me, I was desperately needing to make a living after my parents....." started Jeannette, stopping for a brief moment. She felt herself lose her voice briefly as Rebecca had been watching intently.
"What happened to your parents?" asked Rebecca quizzically. She noticed the slight glare that Jeannette was giving her in response. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to," added Rebecca, trying to reassure Jeannette.
Which, if the small smile Jeannette was giving her was any indication, was rather appreciated.
"They both died in a car accident, the one at fault was the other driver" started Jeannette, her face scrunching up as anger became visible behind her eyes. "He survived with no injuries but they were both dead on impact," said Jeannette bitterly, dialling back her anger as she turned back towards the nearby enclosure. "I was 16 at the time. I was forced to grow up quickly and the only person who would take me in was Vannessa" continued Jeannette, faintly recalling that she still hadn't heard anything back from the model. "By the time I knew who she really was, I was trapped as I needed the money to support myself" finished Jeannette, feeling the tears begin to start anew.
Rebecca eyed Jeannette, sensing the despair she was feeling. It was then Rebecca decided that it was time to make her new addition. She eyed the nearby sign, indicating the enclosure was for a Rainbow Boa. It seemed perfect, something truly beautiful, something perfectly fitting for Jeannette.
"Well, time to get to work," thought Rebecca, opening her hand as a soft green glow formed within it. It seeped out of her hand, quickly moving towards Jeannette as it softly slithered into her body.
It was then Jeannette could feel a strange sensation coming over her. It seemed to be focusing on her legs, causing them to feel weak.
"Wait...what's going..." mumbled Jeannette, slipping as her legs went numb. She fell to the floor, unable to support herself upright. She could feel the strength fading from her legs as she looked up, trying to find Rebecca to help her.
What she didn't expect was to see Rebecca smiling directly at her.
"Rebecca? Rebecca, what's going on?" asked Jeannette, her legs feeling strange as she looked back at them. Her mouth widened as she noticed they seemed to be merging. She couldn't help but moan out as the changes felt...pleasurable.
"I need a reptile for my poster," said Rebecca as she bent down to look Jeannette in the eye. "I was hoping that my new Rainbow Boa would allow me the honour of a few pictures when she arrives" finished Rebecca, her smile widening as she noticed Jeannette's eyes widening. It was clear that Jeannette had just comprehended what Rebecca had told her.
"I'm becoming a...snake?" thought Jeannette, her mind racing as she could feel a prickling sensation around her merging legs. Jeannette only watched as orange scales began to form with black rings developing within. She couldn't help but gaze in wonder as she saw little rainbows being formed due to the light from the glass ceiling refracting upon them.
"They...I looked beautiful" thought Jeannette, unable to hold back a smile. Despite her concern regarding the rumours, it seemed like this...was for the best.
After all, did she have anything to lose anymore?
Jeannette couldn't help but smile in childish glee as the scales began to spread up her legs. Speaking of her legs, they continued to merge, her feet sinking into her forming tail as she noticed it appeared to be lengthening.
"Wait, I'm getting...thinner?" thought Jeannette, noticing that her chubby frame was shrivelling up. It appeared to be having a direct impact on her new tail. Longer and longer it was growing, becoming more suitable for her soon to be new species.
Jeannette stared up at Rebecca, giving her a look of gratitude. Rebecca smiled back, although for a different reason than Jeannette was thinking.
"She appears to be embracing it...good," thought Rebecca, content to watch Jeannette as she noticed another change was coming over the soon-to-be snake.
Jeannette cringed slightly as the scales began to spread further up her body. They retained the orange colour alongside the formation of black rings as Jeannette could feel a sensation focusing around her arms.
"I guess snakes don't have arms?" thought Jeannette, resigning herself to the lost limbs as they began to weaken. The bones seem to be fading as the arms bent back on themselves, becoming absorbed into her body. The loss seemed to have a direct effect on her tail, causing it to stretch further out.
Jeannette couldn't help but moan in pleasure, the changes feeling wonderful as she continued to embrace them.
"This...this feels wonderful," said Jeannette, her smile widening even as she felt an uncomfortable sensation in her chest. It seemed to be thinning out, compressing as Jeannette found it difficult to breathe. Her breasts flattened, being absorbed into her body as scales spread up to take their place. Her tail continued to lengthen out, stretching longer and longer.
The only thing left unchanged was Jeannette's face which she could feel was about to begin very soon.
However, before this could happen, Jeannette felt a sudden chill come over her. She quickly realised that her new species was cold-blooded as she found herself unable to stop shivering. Her body temperature continued to drop, causing considerable discomfort.
"Oh, I forgot to adjust the temperature," said Rebecca, quickly dashing off for a moment. Jeannette began to panic, flailing around in desperation. Her teeth began to chatter, the cold beginning to overwhelm her.
"I...I feel so...cold" mumbled Jeannette, struggling to cope with the cold as she felt like she was in agony. Fortunately, she noticed a nearby ray of sunlight as she instinctively began to slither toward it. Ignoring the fact that she was practically a human head on a snake's body, Jeannette managed to slither towards the ray of sunlight, finding immediate relief as she did so.
Jeannette couldn't help but find absolute bliss as she lay in the sunlight. The rays warmed her body considerably, affording the changing reptile relief from the cold she was feeling only moments before.
It was at that point that Rebecca returned. She eyed Jeannette, smiling as she noticed the bliss on her face. She could tell that Jeannette was enjoying her new form which would work well into the next phase of her plan.
"I suppose it's time for you to finish up huh?" said Rebecca, noticing Jeannette turning to face her. As Rebecca walked towards the almost snake, her smile widening. "I've adjusted the room temperature to be more suitable for you...forgot you were going to be cold-blooded for a moment" added Rebecca, looking briefly apologetic as she bent down to look Jeannette directly in the eye. She placed her hands against the sides of Jeannette's still human head as Jeannette began to feel the final changes coming over her.
Jeannette felt her teeth change as they withdrew. This didn't last long before a new pair of fangs emerged from her mouth as she rang her tongue over them experimentally.
"Tis...eels...ight" mumbled Jeannette, speech becoming much more difficult. She felt a sensation on her tongue, feeling it tingle as it thinned out. It began to split, becoming forked as Jeannette realised that human speech would be a thing of the past.
"I...I feel so beautiful" thought Jeannette, feeling her hair receding into her head as the changes spread upwards. She felt her head flatten and change shape, her nose and mouth pushing out into a muzzle as the scales continued to spread over her face.
However, the changes also seemed to be having a profound effect on Jeannette's mind. While she could remember her former human self, she felt mental conditioning beginning to form. It commanded her to watch out for potential intruders...and keep Rebecca happy.
"Perfect," thought Rebecca, noticing via Jeannette's eyes that her brainwashing spell was working. Now she'd have a way to keep an eye on Elizabeth and Charlotte, make sure they weren't plotting against her.
"Anything to thank her for this wonderful new form," thought Jeannette, shaking her head. She eyed Rebecca, trying to think of any way to express her gratitude one last time.
"Thanssss youssss," said Jeannette, the final changes washing over her as she felt her voice cut off for good. Her changes, both physical and mental, settled in as the former woman was reduced to a common reptile.
Jeannette's transformation was now complete. She was now a complete Rainbow Boa.
Jeannette looked around awkwardly, slithering out of her now discarded clothes. She looked up at Rebecca, allowing her to pick her up. It proved to be minorly difficult as Jeannette had become 7 feet long. Fortunately, Jeannette cooperated, wrapping herself around Rebecca's shoulders.
After a brief moment, Rebecca managed to place Jeannette into her new home. It was vast, built like a rainforest. It had large trees which could be used for crawling up but a gap still allowed daylight to shine through, allowing Jeannette to show off the beauty of her scales. There was also a nest set up for any future brood Jeannette might have, although the thought of a mate was currently not on Jeannette's mind.
"Ok, now...smile for the camera," said Rebecca, getting Jeannette's attention. Jeannette noticed a nearby ray of light shining down in her enclosure. She slithered over to it, posing as she showed off her scale and the rainbow patterns which were being created by the refracted light bouncing off her scales.
Jeannette smiled as a 'flash' occurred. She noticed Rebecca smiling, clearly adoring her new snake. Jeannette was likewise embracing her newfound snakehood as she struck another pose. The photoshoot would continue for the next hour, the pair looking forward to having a wonderful future together.
After all, there was much work to be done.
