"Finally...I thought we'd never get this close" thought Rebecca, smiling as she admired the enclosure she was currently looking into.
The enclosure certainly was gorgeous. It was within the Outside Section of the Zoo. This allowed natural light to shine inside every inch of the enclosure. It had a large watering hole in the centre of the enclosure where the intended animals could drink from upon arrival. The floor was coated in grass and bushes for grazing as well as the trees which hung above, allowing the animals to feel more at home.
"Once today is over...then we can return to more...enjoyable pursuits," said Rebecca, frowning as she reflected on the current situation.
The last few weeks had been exceedingly tedious. Ever since the disappearance of the school children, the Managers had needed to tie up loose ends. Rebecca's frown deepened as she recalled the one responsible for their predicament.
The one responsible for their Landlord abandoning them.
"She needs to pay for this," thought Rebecca, sinking her nails into the handrail from the observation platform she was standing on. "Elizabeth needs to be put in her place...this disaster cannot be overlooked" continued Rebecca, her anger growing as the thought of Elizabeth continued to cross her mind. A small flare of magic occurred from Rebecca's fingertips. It was red hot as Rebecca noticed what was happening. She then distracted herself, aware of what potential consequences could occur if she didn't.
"On the bright side though...they certainly appear to have turned against each other" admitted Rebecca, calming herself. She smiled, content that this whole debacle at least had a silver lining. She looked around, her eye-catching on one of the many cameras which had been scattered around the Zoo since Patricia broke in.
"They've definitely come in handy, especially due to those Vandals" mumbled Rebecca, her mind momentarily forgetting about Elizabeth. "However..sometimes I wonder if I should have delayed Jacob's transformation. In hindsight, we could've had them up sooner" thought Rebecca, considering the thought before dismissing it.
"Regardless...it's good that they've finally been installed," said Rebecca, smiling in satisfaction. The number of cameras everywhere was staggering. The number of blind spots was minuscule. The average person would consider it excessive.
However, Rebecca was far from average.
"I guess I should check on the Security Room...ensure it's still operational," said Rebecca, happy with her inspection of the Antelope enclosure. She began to wander forwards, taking occasional glances at the animals that she crossed.
Rebecca stopped for a brief moment outside the Panda enclosure. She looked inside, eying the panda mindlessly playing with the ball within the enclosure. It glanced up towards her, staring at Rebecca with blank eyes.
"If what Charlotte said is true...we need to keep an eye on this one," said Rebecca, making a mental note to herself. She then raised her hand, a green glow emanating out of it as it surrounded the panda.
The magic seeped into the panda, causing its eyes to further darken. It squeaked briefly as this happened before becoming complacent.
"Perfect, that should prevent your magic from becoming dominant...Alyssa" said Rebecca. She smiled, her thoughts drifting once more as she realized the significance of the former woman. "Although, probably best to create a contingency," thought Rebecca, her hands growing green once more.
The bamboo which adorned the walls of the enclosure began to rise. It grew taller and taller, stretching high above the enclosure. It twisted, turning as various pieces merged. It soon formed 'bars', a dome of sorts surrounding the top of the enclosure. It turned and lapped, forming a large dome that surrounded the large open rooftop of the enclosure.
While Rebecca and anybody on the Viewing Platform would still be able to look into the enclosure, the surrounding dome would help shield Alyssa from the harshness of the sun. However, if by some minute chance, Alyssa returned to normal, Rebecca hoped the dome would prevent her from escaping upwards.
After all, Rebecca didn't know exactly what Alyssa was or might be capable of.
"Still...that should hold you," said Rebecca, a bittersweet smile on her face. Despite her misgivings, she felt satisfied at her makeshift cage as a nostalgic feeling of familiarity washed over her. She wondered whether he would be impressed. The thought and implication of what she had done caused her a minor bit of grief. However, she quickly dismissed it.
After all, Rebecca still had a job to do.
"Now I really should be going, ta Alyssa," said Rebecca. She began to walk away, fully intending to head to the Security Room.
Unknown to Rebecca, her use of magic had attracted the attention of something. A small green glow was observing Rebecca nearby. It flashed red momentarily, returning to its green colour a second later as it followed Rebecca. It sensed some strange emotion coming from within. It felt almost like...disdain.
Rebecca heard a sudden call as she turned to look for the origin. She quickly worked out that it had come from the Dolphin Enclosure. She headed closer towards it, the green glow not too far behind.
"I still wonder how Elizabeth pulled it off," thought Rebecca, confusion coming over her. It was either a complete chance or it was...something more. From how Elizabeth had been acting recently, Rebecca was more inclined to think she was hiding something.
Rebecca looked over the Dolphin enclosure, noticing them staring blankly at her. She was surprised at their lack of enthusiasm, perhaps Elizabeth just had that effect on them?
Given Elizabeth's past, there could be truth in that statement. For now, however, Rebecca didn't care. Her priority was on working out what Elizabeth was hiding from her.
"I'll find out what you're hiding from me soon enough Elizabeth" concluded Rebecca, proceeding to walk away. She wasn't too far from the Reptile House now and she desired to check her cameras before Harriet and Jerome showed up.
Rebecca, oblivious to the fact that she was being followed, arrived at the Reptile House. While they had yet to add any reptiles behind its magnificent doors Rebecca was smiling as she considered the future.
"It'll be great once we expand and diversify," thought Rebecca as she opened the doors to the Reptile House. She began to wander down the Central Hallway, looking over the various enclosures.
"Yes...this will be incredible one day" mused Rebecca, smiling as she imagined the enclosures full of many magnificent animals.
At the end of the Central Hallway, Rebecca arrived at the door for the Security Room. She quickly opened it and she walked inside, sitting in her chair. She spun the chair around, diverting her attention as she entered the secret code into the keypad on the wall.
Within moments, Rebecca's shrine was revealed, about to be updated with many new animals as she smiled.
"Still...we've got many new wonderful additions" mused Rebecca, continuing to inspect her shrine. "It's for the best anyway...the parents would have such insignificant lives without their children" continued Rebecca, their Landlord making her aware of just how special those children were. This only made her feel more regret for even going through with the idea.
Even though it was her...
"It's too late to think like that," said Rebecca, talking to herself as she returned her attention to her shrine. She reached for the photograph of the dolphins that she had taken earlier that day. She smiled, happy for the new additions. As she felt building frustration for Elizabeth, she attached their photo to the shrine. Her frustration increased as her thoughts returned to Elizabeth.
"She's becoming increasingly unpredictable," thought Rebecca, eyeing the other photos across her shrine. "She's hiding something, I don't know what..but she's hiding something" continued Rebecca, her anger growing as she found herself unable to concentrate on anything but.
While Rebecca was distracted, she failed to notice the green glow from earlier observing her. It flashed red once more, returning to its natural green state quickly. It continued to watch Rebecca within the Security Room...as if it was biding its time.
"Still...I guess I should continue my investigation," said Rebecca, feeling an odd sensation. It was giving her goosebumps as she turned around.
Rebecca couldn't see anything.
The side of the room towards the door was bare as she turned back towards the monitors. "I'm getting paranoid" mused Rebecca amusingly. A small chuckle escaped her mouth as she set her monitors to review the footage of the night when those vandals broke in.
Rebecca reviewed the footage, fast-forwarding to the part which had previously confused her the most. Her confusion grew as she focused on the scene. It just didn't make any sense!
"Why was she affected? I didn't set the magic to do that...did I?" wondered Rebecca, immediately unsure of herself. She quickly squashed that thought, not wanting to risk a magical outburst.
Unknown to Rebecca, the green glow was still observing her. It flashed curiously as it noticed the magical surge within Rebecca. An idea was beginning to come together within the internal fragments of its consciousness. It decided to further observe Rebecca, and make sure she truly deserved what it was planning.
"Perhaps...she is the one to blame?" thought Rebecca, noticing the presence of the cheetah via the monitor. "Or maybe Elizabeth's hiding the missing link?" wondered Rebecca, huffing in annoyance. She realised that if Elizabeth stayed quiet, it wouldn't help with her investigation.
"Maybe...it's time to make her talk," said Rebecca, a small magical surge coming from her hand. The perfect spell came to her mind as she smiled maliciously, a plan beginning to form.
The green glow sensed the intention within Rebecca, changing red. It felt an internal need to protect Elizabeth, whatever it took. The plan began to form but now was not the time. It flashed once more, fading away as, unknown to Rebecca, she was now alone within the Security Room once more.
"But for now...time to return to today's agenda," said Rebecca. She returned her focus to the other reason she had come today. "It's time to finally tie up loose ends" continued Rebecca, recalling how she had received a call earlier in the week.
Two zoologists had requested to come and visit the Zoo. To her surprise, Rebecca could recall one of them. The woman's name was Harriet, who, surprisingly, had, in fact, previously applied to work at the Zoo.
"It'd be good to finally meet in person," said Rebecca, Harriet's skillset having impressed her. However, one background check later identified them as the parents of Sydney, one of the eight school children.
"That's unfortunate, she seems knowledgeable from her application," thought Rebecca. "Perhaps I should consider more staff...ones who share my vision?" wondered Rebecca, dismissing the thought for the meantime while she prioritised her new additions.
"Well she'll still be working here...just not in the capacity she's expecting," said Rebecca. She looked upwards towards the nearby clock, noticing she had an hour before they were due to show up.
"Good, that gives me time to put a plan together," thought Rebecca, looking over the various monitors within the Security Room. "Although it should be simple enough, given the fact that Zoologists like animals, why else would they work with them?" continued Rebecca, still looking over the various monitors as she looked around the Outside Section of the Zoo.
It was then she noticed the empty Antelope enclosure as she thought back to earlier that morning. Her smile widened as she decided what new addition she would be having today.
"Well, the new enclosure will soon be filled," said Rebecca, smiling as she continued to plan. Her smile grew as she began to look forward to her new additions.
One Hour Later:
Harriet and Jermone looked over the stone archways into the Zoo. They looked with increasing scepticism, wondering what could have happened.
"It's rather alarming isn't it?" said Jerome, looking towards his wife. He felt a sense of nervousness as he rang his fingers through his beard. He had come today wearing a brown button-up shirt and brown trousers. His brown shoes felt slightly tight around his feet.
"It is...with everyone disappearing, first the children then# their parents" replied Harriet, looking down towards her husband. His expression indicated appreciation for this. After all, Harriet was rather tall, easily towering over Jerome. Harriet's long brown hair hung elegantly down her head as she wore a simple green dress that hung to her knees. She held a handbag in one of her hands as she walked in her high heels, making her seem even taller.
Following the disappearances, the pair had decided the only thing they could do was conduct their own investigation. It was rather easy to organise an appointment. Being a pair of zoologists had its advantages in this situation. However, it didn't help with the pain that their son's absence had been causing.
"I just hope Sydney's ok," said Jerome, feeling concerned about his son who had also disappeared at the beginning of this tragedy.
"I'm sure he is...he's always been rather cautious. Guess he gets it from me" replied Harriet, recalling her son. Sydney had never been like other boys his age, preferring more feminine hobbies. He was also rather skittish, and nervous about new things. Harriet had hoped that letting him come to the Zoo with his friends could help him come out of his shell. Regardless, Harriet loved her son unconditionally, no matter what he was like.
"Agreed, I suppose we should look around. Perhaps there's a clue into how they disappeared" said Jerome. Harriet nodded in agreement, affording herself a rare smile. Jerome stared at his wife, recalling the last few nights. Harriet had been inconsolable since her son's disappearance and while Jerome had reassured her, she had still been upset.
It appeared the only thing the pair had was hope as they walked into the Main Hallway.
"Welcome," said a voice as the pair immediately turned toward the general direction. They noticed a woman wearing a uniform indicating that she was an employee of the zoo.
"Hello, you're Rebecca I presume?" said Harriet, her despair shifting into determination. She offered a handshake to Rebecca.
"Yes, welcome to the Zoo Harriet" replied Rebecca, returning the handshake as she noticed Harriet's confusion. "I remember your previous application" added Rebecca, noticing Harriet's reassurance. "Welcome to you as well Jerome" continued Rebecca, noticing Jerome's slight nod. "Now where would you like to begin?" asked Rebecca.
Harriet looked around, noticing the nearby gorilla enclosure. "We'll start here, it certainly looks like you're expanding your gorillas," said Harriet, walking towards the enclosure as Jerome followed.
"Certainly, we got a few more recently alongside our new silverback Coconut and his mate and child," said Rebecca, walking up and joining the pair as they decided to watch the gorillas for a moment.
Rebecca glanced at the gorillas, smiling as she recognised Coconut. She eyed the silver hair trailing behind his back as she allowed her mind to wander briefly.
"I hope you're enjoying your new life Jacob," thought Rebecca, keeping a small amount of attention on Harriet and Jerome. "I'll say you're much better now than you were as a pitiful human" continued Rebecca, her smile widening. "Still...I'm curious as to what you'd have thought if you knew this was your future" finished Rebecca. Despite her disliking for Jacob, she felt that Coconut was special to her, probably because he was her first addition to the Zoo.
"Rebecca, we're done here. Which should we look at next?" asked Harriet. She had been growing suspicious of Rebecca, realising she was up to something. However, she needed to continue her cover story...at least for a while longer.
After all, they might be Sydney's only hope.
"May I suggest we look at the Antelope enclosure? It's outside and I'd like a second opinion from such knowledgeable people" offered Rebecca.
Harriet furrowed her brow, something seemed off with this situation. "But... there are many other animals in here before we go outside" replied Harriet, resisting the urge to huff before she decided to look over the Zebras. Jerome was still observing the Gorillas, having slyly eavesdropped on the conversation.
"This...might be harder than I thought," thought Rebecca, groaning inwardly. She decided to collect herself, leaving the pair to their observations. She felt confused about how to proceed...at least without potentially blowing her cover.
"Oh fuck this" thought, Rebecca, feeling her annoyance threatening to bubble over. This debacle had gone on long enough and it was time to finally put it behind her.
Rebecca glanced at the couple, noticing they were still committed to their observations. She placed her hand behind her back, waving her fingers in a peculiar motion. A small glow of green energy emerged from her fingers as she prepared a spell.
As Rebecca completed the motion, Harriet and Jerome felt something infiltrating their minds.
"Wait, what's..." thought Harriet, feeling her mind emptying before her. Her eyes began to go blank as she felt her control being forcefully taken from her. Her last clear emotion was fear as she submitted herself to Rebecca.
"So, the rumours were..." thought Jerome, realising what must have happened to his son. He barely had time to respond before he, like his wife, felt control over his body being snatched away. His eyes went blank, becoming Rebecca's puppet.
Rebecca walked slowly towards them, maintaining the motion. Any other time, she would have been happy over her success. Today, she was pissed beyond belief. However, she maintained her focus on the pair, eager to get this over with but also acknowledging the risk she had now taken.
"Now, move!" ordered Rebecca, affording herself a small smile as they complied heading towards the Outside Section of the Zoo. Rebecca followed the pair, holding the motion to ensure they remained under her control.
Within the Outside Section:
Rebecca walked slowly, Harriet and Jerome slightly in front of her. She walked slowly, soon arriving at the Antelope enclosure. She huffed, continually holding her magic on the pair was taking a lot out of her.
"Now...get in" ordered Rebecca, watching as the pair began to walk towards the door to the enclosure. She held out her other hand, using her magic to open the door. Harriet and Jerome walked through the door with no questions asked.
Rebecca then used her magic to close the door, not caring as it slammed shut. She then used her spare hand to lock the enclosure door, ensuring the fate of the pair within was sealed.
"Now, time to get a front-row seat for what's to come" thought Rebecca, stumbling as she began to head back towards the Reptile House. Her divided concentration caused her control over the pair to fade, eventually fizzling out and releasing Harriet and Jerome from Rebecca's control.
Rebecca took no notice, after all, she had them now.
Within the Antelope Enclosure:
Harriet and Jerome awoke from their trance, blinking a few times as their senses returned to them.
"Wait...where are we?" wondered Harriet, looking around in confusion. "Jerome?" said Harriet, trying to get her husband's attention. She smiled slightly when she noticed him turning back to her.
"Harriet?" said Jerome, noticing his wife as he ran over to her. He wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her tightly. "I think Management is responsible for Sydney disappearing" added Jerome.
"I second that. I think they're responsible for it all. The children, our friends, even the others" replied Harriet, looking around as she tried to think of a way to escape. She tried to remember how she had gotten here but, to her concern and shock, her mind was blank. A quick glance from her husband confirmed he was feeling the same.
"We need to get out of her...the world needs to know," said Harriet, forcing the words out even as she felt an uneasy sensation come over her. It gave her goosebumps as she noticed a door that she presumed was the entrance to the enclosure.
She rushed towards the door, Jerome joining her as they tried to force it open. Despite their combined efforts, they were unable to even budge the door. The sensations were getting worse as the pair began to feel uncomfortable. However, something about the sensations felt odd...nice.
The pair looked around quickly, noticing a platform where people would be able to view the enclosure in the distance. The pair looked at each other, silently realising that they would be able to escape from there if they worked together.
"Time to go" mumbled Harriet, heading towards the platform as fast as she could. Jerome did the same, quickly overtaking his wife as Harriet was struggling to keep up in her high heels. As Harriet eyed her husband, she felt an intrusive thought in her mind. She shook her head, trying to focus on her current objective.
As Harriet picked up her pace, she began to feel an aching in her feet. She ignored it, figuring it was due to her heels not being accustomed to her running. The discomfort in her feet worsened as, unknown to Harriet, her toes began to merge. Hard enamel surrounded them, darkening as it surrounded her entire foot. This was mirrored in her other foot as Harriet soon had cloven hooves for feet.
Her high heels were unable to support her new feet as they slipped off, bouncing off her hooves.
"Wait.. what the Woah!" shouted Harriet, falling over as her new rear hooves were not fit for bipedal walking. She looked back at her feet, noticing her new appendages as her mouth widened. Despite her fear of what was happening, she couldn't help but also feel curious. Her ears began to push out, becoming larger as Harriet's curiosity only increased.
After all, Harriet had spent her career studying animals. The possibility of being one couldn't help but intrigue her.
"Harriet? You ok?" said Jerome, his tone in a small panic. He had noticed his wife had fallen over. He walked away from the platform, unknowingly trapping himself as a tingling in his feet began to occur.
"Jerome...I think we're turning into animals" said Harriet. Jerome wanted to say she was wrong. However, as he noticed his wife's cloven hooves, he found it impossible to deny.
"So...the rumours were true," thought Jerome, a sudden rip snapping out of his thoughts. He quickly glanced down, finding his shoes had split open, his socks tearing as he now had a pair of cloven hooves like his wife. He tried to keep his balance, stumbling for a moment before falling over like his wife. He picked himself up with his arms, managing to stare at his wife.
Harriet looked back at her husband, noticing his new hooves. She felt her curiosity growing as they appeared to be identical to her own. A new instinct crossed her mind, causing her to blush as she felt herself becoming aroused at the sight of her husband.
"He...he looks so...hot," thought Harriet, feeling something poking from her rear. It pushed against her dress, wiggling like a new muscle being stretched as Harriet couldn't help but giggle.
"What's so funny?" asked Jerome, confusion evident on his features as he noticed his wife eying him with lust. Before he could further question the situation, Jerome felt new instincts entering his mind. He began to feel aroused by the sight of his wife as the feeling went directly to his crotch. A small tail emerged from his rear, pushing down his trousers slightly. He was feeling the same curiosity as his wife bubbling within, curious as to what they were changing into.
Within the Security Room:
Rebecca was sitting in her chair as she observed the pair of soon-to-be Antelope. She pushed the thought out of her mind of how she had practically pounced towards her chair upon arriving at the Security Room.
"Still...they seem to be enjoying themselves?" thought Rebecca, curious as to how the situation would play out. She pressed a few buttons, zooming in on the changing couple. Rebecca took a glance, satisfied that the transformation was being recorded.
"Perhaps I'll be able to prove my theory today" mumbled Rebecca as she continued to watch the show intently.
Meanwhile:
Harriet eyed Jerome as she felt her desire for him increase. She began to feel very warm as, unknown to Harriet, light brown fur was beginning to push out of her skin. It started at her back, causing her to feel itchy. She scratched at the uncomfortable area, unknowingly encouraging the fur to spread across her body.
"I...I guess my fur is growing in" said Harriet, eying her husband pleadingly. Her arousal, curiosity and discomfort combined as she felt her growing fur approaching her underbelly. The fur lightened up, becoming a soft white colour as the increased warmth was causing Harriet to feel extremely uncomfortable.
"Jerome, can you help me...remove my dress?" said Harriet, trying to push her lewd thoughts from her mind.
"Yes" replied Jerome simply, ignoring his increasing arousal. He managed to crawl towards his wife. Using his still human hands, he managed to unzip his wife's dress. He moved his hands towards the straps of his wife's dress. As he did, he felt a tingling in his hands as they came into accidental contact with her growing fur. He quickly pulled her straps down as he felt his hands stiffen. They were clearly on their way to becoming front hooves to match his new rear hooves.
Jerome could only stare as he felt his fingers forcing themselves towards each other. His eyes widened as they merged, turning black as hard enamel began to coat his fingers. It spread upwards, approaching his wrists. He began to lose feeling in his fingers as he could feel his nerves flaring up as they dissolved. He gritted his teeth as this happened, the process was rather painful. His ears shifted and changed, becoming similar to Harriet's.
Harriet, noticing her husband's pain, moved towards him. She was trying to comfort him as she felt a sensation forming in her hands as they touched the ground. She barely took notice as they began to stiffen up. Her fingers merged and hardened, becoming smooth cloven hooves like her feet. Harriet didn't care, all that mattered right now was comforting her husband.
"Jerome? Are you alright?" asked Harriet, pushing her increasing arousal to the back of her mind. She hugged her husband, unknowingly causing further sensations to occur across his body.
"Wait..." started Jerome, stopping himself. Despite the changes coming over his body, he decided that he'd rather enjoy his possibly last moments of humanity in his wife's comfort. Even though he felt itchy as he presumed his fur was growing in. If he was able to see it, he would notice that the colouration was similar to his wife's as his underbelly was white and everywhere else was covered in light brown fur. However, a white stripe formed around his eye, heading down towards his mouth. It looked familiar to the changing zoologist.
As the fur approached his face, Jerome noticed his beard receding into his face. He paid it no mind, realising there was little he could do to resist the changes that were occurring to his body.
After all, his curiosity was ever-growing. After all, he had studied animals for years. To actually be one was the opportunity of a lifetime.
"Harriet? I don't know how to feel about this" said Jerome, feeling a tingling forming around his body.
"Neither do I" replied Harriet. "But I can't help but desire to embrace this. Even after everything, I can't help but be curious about what life as an animal will be about" continued Harriet, staring at her husband lovingly.
"You mean, you're enjoying this?" questioned Jerome.
"In a way...I just see this as another study and I'd love to have my husband by my side" replied Harriet.
"I...I'll be with you till the ends of the earth," said Jerome, smiling toward his wife as the pair hugged each other.
Upon contact, the sensations that had been spreading across the pair intensified. They felt their bodies bulking up, forcing them upwards. They stumbled about, falling comfortably onto their new hooves. A slight shift of their spine and hips locked them into that position. Their bodies continued to bulk up, causing Jerome's trousers to split. They fell to the floor as Harriet's dress finally gave way, no longer holding itself up around her body.
The pair looked over each other, smiling as their attraction for each other grew once more. Their genitals relocated, which would allow the pair to mate in due time. Harriet felt her breasts melt away to be replaced with a new set of udders between her rear legs. Harriet let out an animalistic mating call, struggling to resist her developing instincts any longer.
Jerome, barely resisting his urges, felt something beginning to push against his head. It originated around two points, pushing harder and harder as he let out a whimper.
"This 'grunt' absolutely 'bleat' hurts 'bellow" called out Jerome, his cries becoming increasingly animalistic. Fortunately, Jerome's pain quickly ceased. Jerome looked up, seeing something quickly growing from his head. Even as a slight bit of blood trickled down his face, Jerome couldn't help but feel a swelling of pride as he admired his new horns.
"They, they look...fascinating," thought Jerome, his intrigue increasing as his horns continued to grow. Rings developed around his horns as they grew to their full length. Harriet noticed his horns as she shuddered, her arousal returning full force once more as she felt a pleasurable sensation in her rear.
She presented herself to Jerome, bellowing out a mating call as she felt ready for her changing husband.
Jerome looked towards Harriet, moving towards her as his instincts became driven by an overwhelming need to mate. He followed what his instinct told him would work, he rested his front legs on Harriet's rear and found his mark, plunging into her vagina.
As the pair began to thrust, their final changes began in earnest. Harriet felt her chest broadening and puffing out, becoming truly animalistic as she bleated in pleasure, her human voice truly gone. She was truly fascinated, she had seen so many mating displays during her studies. To experience it for herself was a whole new situation. One that was causing her to smile despite her reservations.
As Jerome continued to thrust, he felt his chest broadening. Jerome's shirt, which had miraculously stayed on this whole time, began to tear up, buttons popping off until the shirt could take no more. It tore to pieces and fell to the ground. He took deep breaths, his voice being replaced with bellows as he continued mating. Harriet was bellowing in pleasure as Jerome continued, hitting her 'sweet spot.'
As the pair approached their climax, they could feel the final changes coming over them. Their faces began to stretch out, forming muzzles. Jerome's white fur around his eye stretched alongside his new snout, forming the familiar marking of an antelope.
They could feel their teeth change as they became molars, becoming more suitable for their new diet. The pair got lost in the enthusiasm of the mating as the fur spread over their faces. Their eyes darkened slightly, cementing their changes as antelope.
However, upon closer inspection, a sign of clarity could be seen.
Jerome climaxed into Harriet as the pair bleated out, the sound vibrating across the entire Zoo. Jerome dismounted as Harriet looked back at him. The pair headed further back into the enclosure and bent their heads down to graze.
Their new hearing picked up a whirring noise nearby. Harriet looked upwards, noticing a nearby camera. Further noise from it confirmed to her that someone was watching them. She turned towards Jerome, silently indicating what she had seen. Jerome looked around, confirming the same as the pair stared at each other.
They couldn't help but feel tired after their intimacy as they began to move deeper into their enclosure. They behaved like the animals they had become, their knowledge of years of studying them proving invaluable at this moment.
The long game had just begun but for now...all the pair desired to do was sleep.
Epilogue:
Rebecca sat back in her chair as she watched the pair grazing over the camera. She observed their behaviour as her confusion became increasingly apparent. They seemed to be behaving like complete animals despite their seeming embracing of animalhood.
"They seem to be full animals...perhaps my theory is wrong?" said Rebecca. She pushed a button, zooming back out as she decided to leave the new antelope to their devices. She breathed out a sigh of relief as she felt a weight loosen from her shoulders.
The deed was done.
"It's about damn time" mumbled Rebecca, glad that the Zoo had managed to finally cover up the circumstances of the school trip which had occurred only a few short weeks ago.
"This never would've happened if it wasn't for...Elizabeth" thought Rebecca, finding her anger growing as her thoughts focused. A feeling emerged from within Rebecca which she quickly squashed.
She needed to focus.
"I need to do something to make sure she doesn't do this never happens again" started Rebecca, considering possibilities. "I can't have her hiding secrets from me" continued Rebecca as she pulled out her little black book from her pocket. She began to flick through the pages, ideas coming to her as a smile widened across her face. The same feeling was trying to force itself out as Rebecca once again suppressed it.
Eventually, she found something which seemed perfect. She smiled sadistically as she marked the page for future reference, returning her attention to another important question.
Just where did the Zoo go from here?
"Charlotte suggested looking through that girl's phone. Might be worth pursuing, especially if they all have a common point of origin. It would make it harder for them to be noticed if they just 'disappeared'" said Rebecca, finding a sudden sense of tiredness coming over her.
"Then again...I would like to follow up on that annoying girl who bumped into me at the grocery store" said Rebecca, recalling how she's been conducting research and having finally managed to find out this girl's name, where she lived and any family she possessed.
Her name was Caitlyn, she lived in a distant suburb, and she had her parents and little brother. And...she would be Rebecca's next addition to her Zoo.
However, for the time being, Rebecca currently felt so very tired. It was getting harder to keep her eyes awake as she felt...empty inside.
"Guess my magic usage took more out of me than I thought" mumbled Rebecca. She tried to keep the tiredness at bay. After all, she still had to continue her investigation from the night those Vandals broke in. Despite her best efforts, she found herself struggling to stand.
After another moment of trying, she gave up, feeling as if her energy had been drained and any attempt to properly look into the footage would be at best, difficult, if not unproductive.
"Well there's always tomorrow," thought Rebecca, smiling as she laid back in her chair. She felt woozy as she succumbed to sleep.
Once Rebecca was asleep, a green glow began to form once more. It focused once more on Rebecca's sleeping form, shining slightly. It glowed red momentarily as if it was...angry. A plan of its own began to form as it struggled to hold itself back from enacting it.
However, for now, it held back. If Rebecca went through with her plan...then it would strike.
It glowed once more, the display on the monitors fizzling slightly before vanishing.
Unknown to Rebecca, the status quo of the New Zoo and its inhabitants was about to change.
Only time would tell whether it would survive.
