(WARNING: This is a long ass-chapter. So if you don't wanna read all of that crap, then don't!)
Rebecca walked under the stone archways as she entered the New Zoo. She took a deep breath, enjoying the feeling of returning...home.
"It's good to be back," said Rebecca, her smile widening as she looked around the enclosures of the Main Hallway. It truly felt like a lifetime ago since she had walked through these halls, and truly embraced her dream. It had truly felt like an eternity since Rebecca had wandered the hallways of the Zoo...her Zoo.
However, as Rebecca continued to wander, something felt...off.
"Why...why am I feeling so...blue?" wondered Rebecca, continuing to look around the various enclosures. She could feel despair forming deep within, trying to crawl its way to the surface as she felt a tingling forming at her rear.
"This again?" huffed Rebecca annoyingly, closing her eyes as she focused her magic. She could already feel the tingling fading, disappearing as Rebecca was quickly reminded that this wasn't a cordial visit.
"I...I still don't know how we could've been so careless...again" said Rebecca, her agitated tone betraying her true feelings. Having already anticipated the tingling at her rear returning, Rebecca focused her magic to suppress the budding instincts inside her.
"Why...what the hell is happening to me?" mumbled Rebecca, shaking her head. She looked around once more, eying the various animal enclosures around. Rebecca felt her emotions continue to build up, overwhelming her as she clutched her temples.
Rebecca, now overwhelmed with the emotions of the other residents of the Zoo, fell to her knees. She could sense how the enclosures seemed too restrictive, too containing and ultimately...imprisoning.
"It...it's too much," said Rebecca, gritting her teeth against the onslaught of emotion. She resisted tears forming in her eyes, trying to keep her composure lest she lose control again.
Lest the peahen within her emerge once more.
"Becky? You alright?" asked Caitlyn, approaching the front of her enclosure cautiously. "Rebecca? Can you hear me?" repeated Caitlyn, eying her friend.
"Ca...Caitlyn?" replied Rebecca, focusing on Caitlyn's voice as her breathing began to slow. Her eyes began to return to normal, the dilated pupils widening as Rebecca regained her composure. She looked around, eager to find the company of her favourite addition.
Within moments, the pair were eying each other, only the cage bars of Caitlyn's enclosure separating them. Rebecca's mind began to wander once more, considering her predicament and the recent events that had complicated her life.
"Who...who is truly the prisoner right now?" thought Rebecca, eyeing Caitlyn's expression of concern. She could sense Caitlyn's emotions, the concern, the joy, the...worry?
"Caitlyn?" said Rebecca, her voice uncharacteristically unsure.
"Becky? What's wrong?" asked Caitlyn, her tone full of concern.
Rebecca always seemed so sure of herself, to see her like this was worrying. What could've possibly spooked her this badly?
"I...I had a phone call last night" stuttered Rebecca, unable to stop herself. She could feel her emotions overwhelming her, forcing her to confess. "Someone is trying to blackmail the Zoo. They're trying to...shut us down" finished Rebecca, going quiet as she noticed Caitlyn trying to comprehend what she'd just been told.
"What?!" roared Caitlyn, unknowingly disturbing Travis who awoke immediately. It took him only a moment to approach the front of the enclosure alongside his girlfriend.
