It was after dark as Patricia looked outside at her target.

"Appears rather normal...so far," thought Patricia, intrigued as she looked over the quaint setup. She glanced at the stone archways, noticing the gate across them that was blocking her entry.

Patricia was a medium-sized girl. She had the body of an athlete but preferred journalism. Her hair was a dark shade of brown that hung down her head, stopping at her waist. She wore black pants alongside a purple sleeveless shirt. She also wore a black jacket over her shirt, zipping it up as she prepared herself for what she had planned.

A New Zoo had recently opened in her town. It also appeared to be the common thread between a few disappearances that had occurred recently.

"Something's just not right" mumbled Patricia, feeling determination within as she recalled why she had come here tonight.

Recently, Patricia had written an article about the people who had disappeared around the Zoo. She had presented it to her boss. To her surprise, he tried to talk her into dropping the story.

"Guess he doesn't know me as much as I thought" muttered Patricia, the rebuff having heightened her intrigue in the Zoo.

Hence, she decided to conduct her own investigation.

She checked her phone, looking over her messages once more. Her attempts to contact the Managers for questions had resulted in rejection which had confused her.

"They must be hiding something" concluded Patricia as she to her other contact.

"I wish you joined me tonight Tyler," thought Patricia, blushing slightly before shaking her head. She returned her focus to her objective as she looked back to the stone archways.

"Something sketchy must be going on here," thought Patricia, feeling determination filling her to solve the mystery and find out what happened to the missing people.

Patricia looked into her bag, looking through the items she brought to assist her with sneaking into the Zoo. After a few moments of searching, she found what she was looking for,

She took out the grappling hook she had brought. Knowing she would need to scale the wall, she was thankful for maintaining her athlete's body. She got into position and threw the grappling hook. Fortunately, it landed over as she began to pull herself up.

As she scaled the wall, she took out a mask she had in her bag. She pulled the mask over her face. She figured that she didn't want to be caught breaking in; the mask would obscure her identity if the Zoo had security cameras.

"Now, time to find out what happened," thought Patricia as she climbed to the top of the wall. She took a look down below before she jumped down, entering the Zoo.

Patricia looked around, walking down the Main Hallway of the Zoo. She began to feel curious as she noticed the animals around. She looked over and saw a gorilla that appeared to be sleeping. The sign outside the enclosure identified his name as 'Coconut'.

"Good, he's asleep. Best to keep it that way," thought Patricia as she looked around, noticing other animals, including the Zebra appear to be asleep.

She didn't want to be here longer than necessary as she continued to look around, wandering further into the Main Hallway. Despite her hurried pace, her curiosity was getting the best of her. Patrica noticed some of the other animals as she looked around.

She looked around, noticing a nearby pair of panthers who, fortunately, were also asleep. She even caught a glimpse of a nearby seal lying on a beach towel as she continued to look around.

"I'd expect to have seen an office by now, where is it?" thought Patricia, feeling increasingly nervous as she continued to look around as she walked, trying to find an office of some description.

However, she stopped when she saw a pair of eyes staring directly at her. She froze, mildly frightened; she saw a cheetah staring directly at her.

"It's ok, just stay still," thought Patricia, trying not to draw any unnecessary attention which might awaken the other animals in the Zoo.

The cheetah seemed to stare at her with a forlorn expression which caused Patricia's fear to be replaced with curiosity as she moved closer towards it.

"What or who are you?" mouthed Patricia, noticing that the cheetah's expression and demeanour were unusual. It seemed almost human.

"I need to gather evidence. This needs to be looked into further," thought Patricia as she reached into her bag. She pulled out a camera and aimed it at the cheetah which, fortunately, remained still.

In her rush to take a picture, Patricia had failed to notice that she had accidentally left the flash enabled. Hence, when she took a picture, Patricia was unprepared when the flash went off, temporarily blinding her.

It had a similar effect on the cheetah as the sudden light caused it to turn away. It began blinking rapidly, trying to regain its vision. It then looked back towards Patricia, showing an unusual amount of concern for an animal.

As Patricia attempted to recover, the other animals reacted to the sudden flash. When Patricia regained her vision, she noticed that all the animals had woken up. They were now staring at her as Patricia knew what was about to happen.

"Oh, shit," thought Patricia as the animals made noises at her, forcing Patricia to cover her ears at the sheer volume. She saw as the animals moved to the edges of their enclosures. She was scared as she felt intimidated by the unusual cooperation between the animals.

"Ok, something is definitely going on here," thought Patricia as she looked around. She saw a pair of doors to what appeared to be an office building.

"Might as well check it out while deep in here" thought Patricia, running away from the noise of the animals as she ran towards the doors. She pushed the doors and went inside. She stumbled around in the dark momentarily. Eventually, she found a light switch and flicked it on.

The room shone up as she looked around. Papers were scattered everywhere as she looked around, trying to find anything meaningful to her investigation.

"Someone seriously needs to get organized" moaned Patricia as she looked around, noticing a desk in the middle of the Office. She walked towards the desk as she saw writing in a language she didn't understand. She noticed what appeared to be drawings of animals in the corner of the papers as they seemed rather important.

"Bingo," thought Patricia, getting her camera out as she took a few pictures of the papers. Something just seemed off about them.

Meanwhile:

Unknown to Patricia, something was occurring outside. The animals seemed oddly calm as the corners of the Office began to glow slightly. It seemed to affect the enclosures as the cheetah wondered what was going on.

"What in the..." started the cheetah, unable to finish the thought as it felt an invasion within its mind. It growled as it tried to resist, looking around as it saw the same occurring to the other animals.

However, they seemed nonplussed about the situation as whatever magic had invaded the cheetah's mind had begun to grow stronger.

Eventually, its mind was overwhelmed as its eyes darkened. Whatever control the magic had over its mind made itself apparent as a single command echoed through its mind.

'Add the Intruder' echoed the voice as the cheetah felt no choice but to obey. From the expressions of the other animals, it was apparent that they had were given the same command.

Within the Office:

Patricia finished taking pictures of anything that looked suspicious, syncing them to her phone as she looked around once more. She tried to see if anything else stood out as she noticed a safe in the corner of the room.

"I should leave it, it'd be too obvious someone broke in otherwise," thought Patricia reluctantly as she decided it was time to leave.

"The evidence I've gathered tonight should at least have people starting to ask questions," said Patrica quietly as she smiled, feeling as if she had accomplished something significant tonight.

"One last thing," thought Patricia as she opened her contacts. She scrolled to 'Tyler' as she thought for a moment.

"Tyler wouldn't have a clue what to do with this" admitted Patricia as she scrolled to ''John' instead. She attached all the pictures she had acquired tonight and hit 'Send'.

"Just encase something happens to me," thought Patricia as she headed towards the doors. She listened out, not hearing anything as she felt satisfied that the animals had gone back to sleep.

"Now time to make my getaway" mumbled Patricia as she opened the doors, intent on getting out of here as soon as possible.
She proceeded to look through the Zoo, eying the entrance until she heard something.

She turned as she noticed growling as the panthers and cheetah walked up towards her. They had vacant expressions as Patricia was terrified at her situation.

"Now now, nice kitties," said Patricia, finding it increasingly difficult to remain calm as she walked backwards, trying to keep away from the big cats as she inched further away.

Patricia was overly focused on the cats, failing to notice what was going on around her. She quickly glimpsed over her shoulder as she noticed animals approaching from the opposite side. She saw the Gorilla from earlier, alongside the zebras and giraffe form alongside the big cats.

"Wait...dammit," thought Patricia as she discovered she was trapped. She looked around, wondering how to escape her predicament.

Before she could react, she failed to notice the giraffe swinging its neck at her. It hit her hard-on, swinging her away from the path and into an enclosure. She dropped her bag as she fell, which caused it to fall into a corner of the enclosure she landed in.

Unknown to Patricia, she had landed in the Elephant enclosure, her soon to be new home.

The animals looked at each other, satisfied with what they had done. They began to return to their enclosures which closed behind them. The cheetah re-entered its enclosure as the fog which had surrounded its mind began to lift.

"What was that?" thought the cheetah as it looked around, noticing the other animals had returned. They seemed to be waiting intently for something as the cheetah only felt confused about the whole situation.

Moments Later:

When Patricia regained consciousness, she looked around, noticing that she seemed to be in an enclosure of some sort. She removed the mask, trying to clear her vision as she tried to work out where she was.

The enclosure had big tall trees which surrounded the edges of the enclosure. A small lake allowed whatever animal was within to drink or bathe. Patricia looked up as she noticed that the enclosure had an open-air top.

"Wait, how did I get in here?" thought Patricia, looking around as the memories quickly returned to her. To her surprise, she wasn't feeling as much pain as she had expected.

"If anything I feel tingly," thought Patricia, feeling a tingling sensation spreading across her body. She forced herself up as she felt a sudden twinge in her ankle.

"Ah, I must have sprained it," mumbled Patricia, biting her lip to prevent herself from screaming.

Patricia stood up gently as she checked her person. Her eyes widened as she realised her bag was missing. Panic began to fill Patricia as she looked around the enclosure, trying to work out where her bag could have landed.

"If my bag is gone, it could be evidence that I broke in," thought Patricia. She began to feel an increasing sense of panic as she forced herself to move. She ignored the screaming pain of her ankle as she searched the enclosure.

"Where is it?" mumbled Patricia, beginning to feel frustrated as she looked around, the tingling she had been feeling only seemed to increase in intensity.

Eventually, the tingling was too much as Patricia fell to her knees, no longer able to support herself. She began to feel very, very strange as the tingling began to focus around her nose.

"Wait...what's...ACHOO!" sneezed Patricia, closing her eyes temporarily as the noise vibrated across the Zoo. Patricia looked around panicky, hoping she hadn't attracted any unwanted attention.

As she looked around, her vision was drawn to a protrusion coming out of her face.

"Wait...what's on my face?" thought Patricia as she looked down. As Patricia realised her new growth, she nearly screamed in shock at what she saw.

Instead of her small petite nose, she now had a rather long trunk that hung out from her face as she continued to stare at it. The trunk's texture felt very rough as she felt it within her hands. She could feel herself breathing through it as she attempted to calm down.

"I'm becoming an elephant?!" shouted Patricia, failing to calm and abandoning all pretence of being quiet. She could hear the animals around her making noise as if encouraging their new arrival. A realisation came over Patricia as she looked around the enclosure.

"Wait...those missing people...were transformed into animals?" thought Patricia as she began to feel a sense of dread. She hoped that the others who had noticed the disappearances didn't decide to sneak in. She didn't want them to pay for their curiosity as she was currently doing. The sensations continued to spread over Patricia, forcing her changes to continue.

Patricia felt something building up in her rear as she instinctively stuck her ass up into the air. She began to push, gritting her teeth as she felt that something needed to be released.

She shouted as her new tail burst out of her pants. It fell to the floor, brushing against the dirt of the enclosure as Patrica could feel it moving behind her. The tail moved in the cool air as Patricia stared at the foreign limb in shock as she watched it swish around her backside.

"A tail?" said Patricia, feeling intrigued as she could feel the new limb. It seemed rather, natural.

Patrica felt a build-up in her gut as she grabbed it in pain, the sensations causing bubbling in her stomach. She began to feel strange as her gut tingled similarly to her face.

Her gut was bulking up as pound after pound of fat built upon her, destroying her former athlete's frame. She felt her clothes snap as she continued to bulk up as her weight increased considerably. She began to feel a change in her hands and feet which thickened up as her nails increased in size with her feet. Her hands and feet bulked up as they became the correct size for an elephant.

"I feel like a freak," thought Patricia, silently weeping to herself. She observed her lost humanity on the ground as she stared at her snapped clothes.

"I should try and find my bag, prevent what I've gathered from being used" mumbled Patricia. She began to explore the enclosure as she was slowly beginning to find the leaves on the trees appealing as her new instincts began to form. They began to take root in her mind as she stood still. While she was distracted, she began to feel a tingling in her ears as she stood in the enclosure.

Patricia felt her ears change as they massively increased in size and moved to the side of her head. They felt like wind sails as they moved slightly in the air. She looked at her new ears as she saw they looked exactly like an elephant's. She noticed her genitalia and anus moved back to be directly under her tail, both widening to match her new species.

"Why...does...my mouth..feel...full?" thought Patricia as she began to feel something forming within.

It was now that Patricia felt the formation of large tusks as they pushed out, giving the sensation of making her mouth feel full as she gained one of the most recognisable features of the animal she was becoming. She felt her hair shed from her head as she was left bald. She decided this was the least of her worries as she looked in the small lake in the enclosure, confident her changes hadn't ceased.

Patricia looked into the lake at her reflection, physically except for her skin, she was now a complete elephant. She looked towards the trees and for some reason, they looked delicious. She used her trunk to scoop the leaves and moved them into her mouth. As she continued to do this, her skin changed as it turned a soft reddish-brown colour. It developed a rough texture to it as the new elephant cow physically completed her transformation.

"I only hope that John can succeed where I failed," thought Patricia as she felt her mind begin to go blank. It was becoming simpler as she looked around mindlessly. She could barely concentrate as she saw something sparkle in the distance, it was her camera in her bag but her developing elephant instincts prevented her from concentrating on it fully.

Patricia's eyes darkened as her change cemented itself. Any capacity for human thought had now disappeared as it was replaced with elephant instincts.

The new elephant trumpeted out as if to inform the animals of her change as she became the newest addition to the Zoo. The other animals called to her as if welcoming her arrival.

"Wait...we have an elephant now?" thought the cheetah, realising that the girl which had broken in, her chance to let the truth be known...had just slipped through her fingers.

The cheetah looked around, noticing the other animals had begun to fall asleep. This caused the cheetah's fatigue to suddenly let itself be known as it struggled to keep standing.

The cheetah collapsed, quickly falling asleep like the rest of the residents as it drifted off into surprisingly sweet dreams.

Elsewhere, a sudden 'ping' could be heard. A phone buzzed, indicating that its owner had gotten a new message.

The Next Morning:

The Managers walked into the New Zoo. They looked around the Main Hallway, checking the animals that they had obtained.

"Nothing seems out of order so far," thought Rebecca as she continued to check around the Zoo.

They had received a noise complaint from the previous night. This had startled Rebecca who had immediately insisted Elizabeth and Charlotte join her to investigate the following morning.

"Guys...did we always have an elephant?" called out Elizabeth as she attracted Rebecca's attention.

"Not me, Charlotte?" asked Rebecca, looking down as she consulted Charlotte. Charlotte checked her list as a look of confusion came over her.

"Well?" demanded Rebecca, feeling a sense of impatience for Charlotte.

"I haven't accounted for an elephant" replied Charlotte, checking her list as Rebecca threw her hands up.

"Elizabeth, go in the enclosure and investigate" demanded Rebecca.

"Why me?" questioned Elizabeth, her tone irritable as Rebecca glared at her.

"You're the smallest out of all of us, you also have that whistle of yours" replied Rebecca as she felt a small sense of satisfaction as she noticed Elizabeth's face go red with anger. Elizabeth took one look over to Charlotte as she forced herself to calm.

"Don't insult my height again!" said Elizabeth firmly as she walked towards the door into the enclosure. She let herself in as she looked at the elephant. The elephant trumpeted at her as Elizabeth walked towards it. She blew her whistle as she approached the elephant, which had begun to calm. She petted the elephant as it calmed down and became docile to Elizabeth.

"There, there. You're just making yourself at home" cooed Elizabeth as Patricia gently accepted the affection. Elizabeth noticed something sparkling in the distance.

Elizabeth broke the gesture as she began to walk towards the object. As she did, she looked around, noticing the small parts of damage that had already been done to the enclosure.

"Something to keep an eye on" thought Elizabeth as something told her that this elephant would be troublesome to deal with in the future.

Elizabeth finally reached the object, identifying it as a bag as she picked it up. She proceeded to walk back towards the exit of the enclosure as she left.

"Here," said Elizabeth simply. Elizabeth handed the bag to Rebecca who searched its contents. Charlotte was still looking over her list, trying to account for the elephant.

Rebecca looked through and noticed a camera, she grabbed it and checked the pictures. She noticed the picture of the cheetah and the papers within The Office.

"Wait...they broke in?" said Rebecca, confused as she looked back at the elephant. She quickly concluded that the thief who broke in...was now the elephant. Elizabeth and Charlotte stared at her, likewise confused.

"At least it ended well," said Rebecca as she handed the bag off to Charlotte. She looked around, wondering if someone would break the awkward silence.

"We should consider tougher security," said Elizabeth. "We need those cameras set up" continued Elizabeth as Rebecca and Charlotte couldn't think of a reason to disagree with her.

Meanwhile, Charlotte checked the I.D in the bag.

"Wait...I recognise this person" thought Charlotte as she recalled how someone had been trying to get in contact with them regarding the missing people. Charlotte felt slightly fearful as potentially, more people could be asking questions in the future.

"Take her items to the onsite incinerator," said Rebecca, interrupting Charlotte's train of thought. She motioned to Charlotte who nodded, walking away to comply with the request. "Our landlord certainly did have some good foresight," thought Rebecca, realising the usefulness of the incinerator for disposing of evidence of the former humanity of their new acquisitions.

As Rebecca watched Charlotte leave, she turned to face Elizabeth. Elizabeth was currently watching the new elephant eating leaves from the trees as Rebecca joined her.

"I guess we should send out some more passes, expand our stock," said Rebecca, waiting for a moment before nudging Elizabeth for a response.

"Sounds like a plan" replied Elizabeth, noticing Rebecca smiling. "However, we need to be more specific, tie up some loose ends before we 'scattergun' it," remarked Elizabeth, using her fingers to accentuate air quotes.

Before Rebecca could respond, the pair were distracted by Charlotte returning.

"Guys, you might want to see this," said Charlotte, holding up Patricia's phone as she showed the others the screen.

"John?" said Elizabeth, noticing the contact name.

"So...she has sent the evidence to someone else, suppose I'll put a few words in," said Rebecca as she began to walk away.

Little did the group know, they had just made a new enemy, one who would cause them a great deal of detriment soon...very soon.
