It was after hours at the New Zoo and the weather was particularly unpleasant this evening.

The rain was coming down non-stop, pouring in alongside the rather strong wind. There was even an occasional bolt of lightning to reinforce the unpleasantness of the weather this particular evening. Fortunately, Elizabeth who had been on shift today had long since gone home, leaving the Spirit alone with the animals.

However, despite the comfort that Elizabeth was surely taking pleasure in, the opposite could be said for the animals within the enclosures. The weather was particularly unsettling as noises could be heard all across the Zoo. The noise was deafening as the Spirit covered its ears in annoyance but despite this, it couldn't help but feel sympathetic.

"What is this feeling?" wondered the Spirit as it looked around, sensing the energy from the animals. It had intended to go see Marie for advice from earlier today but the weather had become an inconvenience.

"What should I do?" asked the Spirit out loud as it considered its options. It felt something that it couldn't explain but it felt like attachment to the animals within the Zoo. The Spirit felt the need to comfort them.

"This doesn't make sense," thought the Spirit as it placed its hand to its chin and wondered what this feeling was. It decided that the best thing to do would be to assist the animals and eventually decided on the best way of accomplishing this.

"Fortunately, this won't take up too much energy. I'm so close to my plan for Charlotte after all" said the Spirit as it raised its hands as they started glowing.

Energy began to pulsate off the hands as the Zoo was wrapped in a faint turquoise aura. The effect on the animals was almost immediate as they suddenly began to calm. The noise began to die down as the animals came together within their enclosures, finding comfort in their enclosures until the only remaining noise was the continuing rain.

The Spirit clicked its fingers as the aura maintained itself, a faint turquoise could be seen every couple of seconds as it smiled at its handiwork, satisfied at a job well done.

"Well that's sorted, now to go see Marie" exclaimed the Spirit, happiness present in its voice as it teleported away, leaving the animals to finally get some rest.

Inside the Barn:

Meanwhile, Marie was within her stall in the Barn. She could hear the strong winds rattling against the woodwork of the Barn. Fortunately, the Barn was built sturdy and was keeping the weather outside and to her surprise, the Barn was comfortably warm for such a terrible night.

She looked around, noticing the bareness of the Barn as she 'sighed'. "It's times like this I wish I had someone to keep me company," thought Marie which was quickly interrupted as she remembered her udder was full once again.

"Once again, whoever was here today forgot to check up on me" grumbled Marie which came out as a soft lowing before she stamped the floor with her hoof. It had been quite the experience seeing her parents again. She began causally chewing her cud as she ruminated on this.

"I'm surprised they managed to track me down. Should I have defended them when the Spirit said what it did?"

As she thought this, she noticed a green glow which quickly brightened as she saw the familiar form of the Spirit emerge in front of her. She mooed at it, indicating that her udder was full.

"Again?" asked the Spirit, minor frustration in its voice as Marie lowed out a response. It bent down around Marie's udder, using its abilities to levitate the nearby stool to take a seat as it became tangible. It then sat on the stool, grabbed a pair of teats and began to milk the cow.

Marie mooed out, content as the Spirit began to milk her delicate teats. The Spirit continued to milk her friend as she considered her earlier thoughts. The Spirit could sense that Marie felt troubled as it clicked its fingers, enabling Marie to speak normally.

"Are you ok Marie?" asked the Spirit as she stopped her systematic milking, giving Marie a chance to respond before continuing.

"I'm fine...I don't regret this, it's just... I wish I had someone to keep me company, especially on nights like this" replied Marie, having stopped momentarily as a particularly strong gust of wind banged against the door, startling her momentarily before continuing.

"I also just wonder how my parents are coping? I have to admit, I didn't think too much about them until just recently when they saw me again but I feel as if I've hurt them needlessly" finished Marie, her voice sounding rather miserable.

The Spirit thought over what Marie had just told her, considering how to reassure her distraught friend. It glanced off into space momentarily, its eyes glazing over as Marie turned her head to look. She called out to the Spirit, trying to get its attention which yielded no response from the Spirit. Eventually, the Spirit's attention returned, its eyes becoming normal once again as it looked to Maire before stroking her side. It was trying to soothe Marie and despite her current state, it was helping her.

"Your parents are coping ok. The news hit them hard but they are undergoing serious self-reflection. We won't know what the result will be before they return for Orientation" said the Spirit as Marie looked up, a small 'smile' emerging on her muzzle.

The Spirit continued, saying "I can help you with getting some company if you want. I overheard that we have some more interns tomorrow. You might know them, their names are called Charlee and Callumn. I could have them become something in here if that suits you."

"Maybe" replied Marie. She didn't feel any particular connection to Charlee or Callumn and was unsure as to whether their company would be nice to have.

"For now, I'll keep you company," said the Spirit, optimism present in its voice as it felt Marie's udder for a moment. Finding it empty, it moved out of the stall, taking the stool with it before sitting down on it. It then levitated some nearby hay into Marie's feeding trough, allowing her to be able to eat if needed throughout the evening.

The Spirit looked to Marie, its hand on its chin. The feeling from earlier had returned as it felt confused. Its expression must have given it away as Marie soon asked a question, catching it off guard.

"Are you Ok?" asked Marie as the Spirit looked confused for a moment. Marie could see something she hadn't before. For a second, the Spirit seemed...vulnerable.

"It's nothing" replied the Spirit quickly, avoiding eye contact as Marie turned her head, wondering what could have warranted such a reaction.

"Come on, you helped me. The least I can do is attempt to help you back" said Marie, her eyes appearing to be pleading with the Spirit who looked into them, finding it impossible to resist.

"Ok...It happened earlier today" responded the Spirit quietly, it seemed deep in thought, trying to get its words together before continuing:

"For the last few days, I have begun to feel rather strange. It seemed to begin when I fed last time across the Zoo. It seems as if I feel bad for the people who have been trapped here. They don't seem to have embraced it like you. This feeling scares me, I've never felt this way before. It happened again earlier today when that girl...Sally I think was her name, was changed into an Octopus. It felt bad to transform her, even if only for energy."

Marie thought about what she had been told before responding "What you are feeling sounds like guilt."

The Spirit looked to Marie, its mouth slightly open in confusion as it replied "What's that?."

Marie considered what to say before replying "It is the feeling you get when you know or feel you have done wrong. From the sounds of it, you're probably growing a conscience which is what people see as the inner voice in your head, acting as a guide to your behaviour."

The Spirit struggled to comprehend what Marie was explaining to her as it continued to sit on the stool, ruminating. Marie looked concerned as the Spirit continued to think, the sound of the outside rain becoming a peaceful noise as the pair settled down.

"This is going to be a long night," thought Marie as she bent down, grazing on the pile of hay that had been provided for her.

A Few Hours Later:

The weather had picked up again as the strong gusts of wind blasted down the Main Hallway. Fortunately, the overhead roof was preventing the rain which had increased in intensity from drenching the floors.

The animals were still asleep in their enclosures. They could feel a strange sensation but it felt reassuring, comforting which enabled them to stay calm despite the increasing ferocity of the weather.

The same couldn't be said for the figure who was standing outside of the stone archways. He had a hood on his jacket which was hung over his head, offering minimal protection against the rain as he looked up, wondering how to get inside for shelter.

His name was Stuart. He looked, feeling the rain coming down onto his eyes. He could feel a minor sting against his left eye as he winced, quickly bending his head, continuing to stare at the bars of the front gate.

He could feel the increasing cold surrounding him as the strong winds blew against him, his clothes having stuck to his body from the downpour as he shivered, finding difficulty to move due to the cold.

However, he seemed to be in luck as he noticed the gap between the bars of the front gate. He felt bittersweet as he managed to get himself closer to the gates. It would be difficult but he should be able to squeeze through. He felt his stomach, he was rather hungry but he could only make the best out of what he had.

It took some effort but Stuart was able to squeeze himself into the Zoo. The relief he felt was almost immediate as he found himself out of the rain. This was short-lived however, the strong wind was still blowing through the Main Hallway which caused him to shiver once again.

"Oh, come on!" shouted Stuart, surprisingly not disturbing the snoozing residents as he quickly moved out of the centre and towards the Ticket Booth, using it for cover as he noticed the nearby map stand which he quickly took a map from. He bent down, making himself as small as possible as he opened the map, hoping there would be somewhere where he could get better shelter.

He glanced towards the locations, realising that to get to any of them would require going back outside, if only temporarily.

"Ok...looking at this, The Reptile House could be best but will probably be locked as it's the middle of the night. The same could be said for the Aviary. The Stage is unlikely to provide any useful shelter. I guess the best bet could be the Petting Zoo. I guess I might as well try there" mumbled Stuart to himself, being mindful of the other animals within the Zoo which he hadn't noticed earlier.

He stood up, finding the wind had died down slightly. This allowed him to walk down the Main Hallway with minor discomfort. His joints felt stiff as he placed his hand on his hip, wincing slightly before moving it away. He found himself struggling to keep the pain in as he quickened his pace, determined to find more comfortable shelter.

Eventually, he reached the Petting Zoo as he looked up, noticing the sign. Despite the brutality of the weather, the sign was still sturdy as Stuart shook his head. He caught a brief glimpse of the sign in all its 'glory' as a brief flash of lightning struck in the distance

"Can't believe that a sign that overly extravagant and tacky is no worse for wear in this weather" thought Stuart as his stomach rumbled and he was quickly reminded by the rain which was coming down around him.

He looked around, noticing a nearby barn that seemed to be holding well against the onslaught of the weather. He quickly rushed over to it, hoping the door would open and to his surprise, it did as he began to push on the somewhat heavy door. His arm muscles felt very sore but he was determined to get inside.

The sudden noise of the door opening startled Marie whose eyes had quickly shot open as she gave out a quick moo in a panic as Stuart got inside. Stuart looked around as he unzipped his jacket, wrapping it over one of the empty stalls as he felt a sense of warmth come over him.

"Yes, this was definitely the best choice" mumbled Stuart as he looked around, noticing the cow within one of the stalls who appeared to be distraught.

He moved up towards the cow, whispering quietly, attempting to soothe it. It was beginning to work as Marie was calming down as Stuart then approached her, stroking his hand against her muzzle. This made Marie moo with contentedness as Stuart continued the motion, giving himself a moment of reprieve.

The Spirit looked on at the newcomer as he continued to comfort Marie. It got an idea but unlike previously, it hesitated, wondering whether it was the right thing to do. This confused it as it felt perplexed at this new feeling.

"I don't get it. I usually can just do it with no hesitation" thought the Spirit as Stuart was still focused on Marie.

Marie was enjoying the attention Stuart was giving her as the Spirit thought about what it was doing.

"I want to help my friend...this will cure her loneliness," thought the Spirit, although unsure about the last part committed to the course of action.

"However, I'll make him something different. I don't want to repeat what happened with Megan" though the Spirit, an unusual sensation coming over it as it thought back to that instance, it almost felt like...guilt.

The Spirit looked around, trying to find inspiration for what Stuart should become. It glanced around before becoming fixated on a pair of horseshoes at the back of one of the stalls. It decided that it would be a good fit, noticing Stuart's malnourished state.

It flicked its hand as a quick green glow came out of it before entering Stuart who didn't notice as he was still staring intently at Marie.

Stuart continued to stroke Marie until he felt an odd sensation occurring within him. He moved back slightly in discomfort as he could feel odd cramping in his feet. He bent down, attempting to remove his shoes.

As Stuart attempted to remove his shoes, Marie noticed a change occurring in his ears as they tugged, becoming longer as they shifted into points. Marie cried out, attempting to get Stuart's attention but he ignored her. He was too busy trying to discover the source of discomfort in his feet.

Eventually, he was able to remove his shoes but his socks remained a bigger problem. They clung to his skin like glue, still drenched from the rain outside but this didn't stop him from feeling his feet deform.

Stuart's new horse ears, which he still hadn't noticed, flicked in the air as he could feel his feet begin to cramp up. It felt as if his toes were sticking together like the socks to his feet.

Unknown to Stuart, his toes had begun to merge together. The nail began to harden and broaden, turning black as it began to surround his foot which shrunk until it had the odd appearance, similar to that of a table leg. The changes were quickly reflected in his other foot as Stuart found it becoming increasingly difficult to balance.

Stuart fell backwards, sitting down as he could feel vibrating within his feet. His socks were shaking as they eventually tore, revealing his new hooves to Stuart who quickly gasped. He attempted to make a sound but nothing came out as he stared, slack-jawed at his newfound appendages.

Eventually, he was able to find his voice as he shouted "What the hell?!" as he scrambled up from the floor. He found it difficult to keep his balance but he managed to stay standing as he moved towards one of the empty stalls. He stumbled into the stall, falling on his face as his new hooves couldn't keep him up.

Stuart was momentarily dazed as he felt the vibrations return as he could feel an odd sensation. It was warming, comforting. Unknown to him, it was dark brown horse fur that was beginning to spread from his ankles. His view was obscured by his still intact jeans which clung to him quite tightly.

Marie turned her head, hoping the boy was ok. She lowed at the Spirit which seemed locked in place, pondering. She shook her head before stamping the floor in frustration. She hoped he was ok.

Stuart began regaining awareness as he attempted to get himself standing up. Despite the difficulty with his new hooves, he managed to get upright once again as he threw his hands over the stall, holding onto it for dear life. Marie noticed him and mooed out to him, she felt her frustration grow as the Spirit finally snapped out of its stupor.

"What are you doing!?" demanded Marie as she turned to face the Spirit, attempting to show anger in her otherwise dull eyes.

"Giving you company, didn't you ask for this?" asked the Spirit, confusion present on its face.

Marie considered her earlier words. She did, in fact, feel lonely during the evenings and she did feel more comfortable with this boy being here. She 'sighed' as she felt her anger fade away, knowing the Spirit had already committed to transforming him. It would definitely desire the energy.

"Can I at least talk to him?, I might be able to help him transition," asked Marie, her tone indicating a sense of hope.

"Certainly" responded the Spirit as it rose its hand once again, creating a small flash that covered the room.

Stuart looked up just to notice the flash and had to resist covering his eyes, fearing he would fall down again as the flash faded. His vision returned to him as he looked over to the cow which to his surprise, spoke to him.

"Who are you?" asked Marie. Stuart looked on in surprise as he managed to look over to the cow.

"Did...did you just talk?" asked Stuart curiously as he stared at Marie who stayed rather calm, noticing Stuart's newfound look of confusion.

"Yes, I did. My name's Marie. I...used to be human-like you are currently. I came here after applying for a job and was transformed as you are currently being" spoke Maire, trying to remain calm so as to not spook Stuart whose look became one of intrigue.

"My name's Stuart" replied Stuart as Marie nodded, she began to feel strange inside but she dismissed the feeling, wanting to focus on comforting Stuart.

"Ok...Stuart, Why are you here?" asked Marie before following up with "it's not usual for a teenage boy to be on his own in a Zoo in the middle of the night."

Stuart seemed to hesitate for a moment as if trying to consider his words. Marie looked at him quietly, giving him all the time he needed.

Suddenly, Stuart's jeans began to feel tight, his legs pressing against them. It got tighter and tighter as Stuart looked down, confused.

"These jeans are usually a loose fit. What's happening down there?" said Stuart out loud.

"The next part of your change...probably" replied Marie, she shook her head slightly, trying to keep herself awake. It was too early in the morning for this!.

His question was quickly answered as the jeans burst off his legs, scraps of material hitting the floor as the only thing keeping his modesty were his underwear which was surprisingly, still intact. He looked down, noticing the new bulging muscles in his changing horse legs. The fur was still spreading which Stuart could now clearly see with renewed interest. Stuart couldn't help but smile as he admired the colour.

"I may not have thought this would happen to me...but honestly, after everything I've gone through, I'm all for this" thought Stuart as he could feel something beginning to develop near his rear end.

It felt as if his spine was wriggling as it lengthed out, forming just above his rear as it pushed against his underwear before emerging from above it. Stuart was able to turn his head enough to see that he now had a tail. It fluttered slightly as if instinctively swatting at flies.

The tail wouldn't stay bare for long however, Stuart felt a tickling sensation coming from his new tail as he could feel hairs beginning to pop out. He watched as they began to spread across his tail in the same dark brown colour which had been forming around his legs. The tail swished around the stall mindlessly, Stuart's attempts to get it under control had limited success. Marie noticed the tail, getting an idea from its appearance that it was soft and luxurious.

He began to feel a cramp in his back as his spine began to adjust. He tried to keep hold of the edge of the stall as he felt his hips change, assume a different shape. However, he was soon distracted by another sensation around his rear, particularly his groin. He could feel it flare up as his mind became hazy. His ass began to increase in muscle, becoming more in line with his new horse legs. His anus relocated under his new tail as his underwear finally snapped, falling to the floor with the scraps of his jeans. While he was distracted by the sensations, his back completed its transition as he found himself being forced down to all fours, his hands holding the stall being the only thing keeping him up.

Stuart returned to his senses as his groin finished its change. He felt his hands becoming numb as he realised they would soon be like his feet. He could see his fingers come together and merge, turning black as he could feel his new hooves forming. He felt his arms begin to change, his muscle mass increasing to be more in line with his new legs. He saw himself slipping as he scrambled, trying to get a grip with his new front hooves as he eventually settled on all fours within the stall.

He found himself having difficulty looking around. He was attempting to get a view of his changes as he could feel the brown fur spreading to his rear. He attempted to get a better look which to his surprise, was becoming easier.

Unknown to Stuart, his neck was beginning to stretch out. It pushed out, becoming more in line with the horse he was becoming as it pressed further and further out. Stuart finally noticed as he could rotate his head around and noticed the horseshoes above the stall which to his surprise, began to glow.
"What's going on?" questioned Stuart, his voice surprisingly deeper than he expected as the horseshoes quickly shot out from their position.

"Spirit?!" asked Maire, startled by what was occurring as the Spirit looked to her.

"I have to give the illusion that Rebecca's magic transformed Stuart here," said the Spirit, pointing at the half transformed Stuart. "Otherwise, she might ask questions and I'm NOT putting Elizabeth at risk for this" added the Spirit before following on "This means that her magic is going to take over now, the changes are going to be quicker but I know you can handle it." It gave Stuart a thumbs up in reassurance which did calm Stuart slightly as he could feel new sensations occurring over his body.

"Will I still be me when I'm finished?" asked Stuart, speaking with surprising clarity given his longer neck as he stared at the Spirit.

"Of course, I won't allow it to take your mind. After all, you're here to keep Marie company and being a full horse wouldn't be useful for that" replied the Spirit as it settled down on the stool, eager to watch the show as it smiled warmly, sensing positive emotions from Marie.

Stuart didn't have a moment to spare as he could feel his torso expanding. He grunted in discomfort as his ribs expanded and muscles swelled. His upper body was beginning to adjust into the proportions of a horse. His shirt quickly snapped, unable to cope with the sudden changes to his upper body as it hit the ground with the rest of the rags. He would have been completely nude if not for the dark brown fur continuing to spread upwards as his insides shifted into the stallion he was becoming.

He could feel small hairs emerging down his neck as they continued to forcefully push themselves out. He felt them increase, becoming voluminous as his new mane formed which was the same dark brown colour as his fur and tail.

Maries stared at Stuart intently. She was lost for words. He was definitely on his way to becoming a rather handsome horse and despite the species incompatibility, she could help but begin to feel as if she was in love. She shook her head, unsure of how to cope with how she was feeling as she still felt drowsy.

The only human aspect of Stuart left to change was his still human face. He could quickly feel it growing as it adjusted to the newfound size of the rest of his body. He could then feel his face stretch out, his teeth separating as he went cross-eyed, examining his new forming muzzle.

He could feel it itch as his fur grew around it, matching the rest of his new form as he reared his hooves back instinctively, letting out his first whinny.

However, he could feel one final change occurring to him as his head began to compress slightly, matching an equine shape as Stuart panicked, becoming skittish as Marie called out to him, trying to calm him down.

"Stuart!" shouted Marie worryingly as she glared at the Spirit who looked sceptically at her, wondering what the issue was.

Eventually, Stuart's head finished compressing as his change into a horse was complete. He felt and could still remember his former life as he calmed down before sensing an odd sensation inside of his mind. He could sense a voice occurring from within as he focused on it, curious as to what it was.

He found himself within a vast landscape of emptiness as he looked down, noticing he was in his human form. He saw a green glow emerge which quickly materialized into a form he recognised.

"What was the problem?" asked the Spirit from within Stuart's mind as it continued accusingly "I promised that you would keep your memories, why didn't you trust me?"

Stuart considered his response, quickly adapting to the Spirit communicating through his mind. He felt that since the Spirit changed his form, it was probably capable of many other things. Not wanting to invoke its wrath, he decided the best thing was, to be honest.

"Sorry...It's just I don't know who to trust anymore. I've been disposed of and abused by nearly everyone I can remember. That's how I ended up here. I ran away from home to escape the cycle I was trapped in" finished Stuart as he allowed the Spirit to ruminate on what he just said.

The Spirit's features immediately softened as it felt the same unusual sensation it felt earlier. It considered what to do next as it felt lost. Stuart could feel a slight draining sensation as some energy left him and became absorbed by the Spirit.

"Sorry for being quick to judge you" stated the Spirit before projecting an image of Marie. Stuart looked and noticed the girl he was being shown. She did look rather nice as the Spirit asked "She really likes you... I can tell you feel the same. Do you want to tell her or should I?."

Stuart thought momentarily before replying "I'll tell her when I'm ready to." The Spirit only nodded as it faded away, leaving Stuart on his own.

Stuart quickly returned to reality as he looked around, noticing he was still a horse. He saw Marie who was staring at him.

"Are you ok?" asked Marie, concerned as Stuart looked at her.

"Yes, I'm fine. Better actually" said Stuart confidently before he became distracted by an overpowering hunger. Marie felt the same come over her as they looked towards the feeding troughs within their stalls.

They each noticed the new piles of hay as they began to graze on them, Stuart was especially quick as his stomach began to fill, for the first time that he could remember.

Meanwhile, the Spirit watched the pair as it smiled warmly. It could feel the same sensation but where it previously caused her to hesitate or worry, now filled her with joy. It decided to leave the pair the ability to communicate as it faded away, leaving the couple to their feeding.

It reappeared above the same loch that it had awakened from. The rain had stopped and the storm had finally passed so the area was nice and quiet. It looked around, breathing deeply. It felt calm as it sensed the other animals were still asleep from her previous assistance.

It could sense its energy inside. It smiled maliciously as it finally felt ready. It was ready to move on to the next phase of its plan. As the sun began to rise, the Spirit called out:

"It's time to begin my revenge!"
