"Scott texted. They're going to be here in 10." Lydia announced to the room filled with Stiles' friends and family. She walked over to where Derek was talking with Stiles' dad. "I still don't know why we chose Scott. I'm convinced he told Stiles the day we told him." Lydia sighed as she took a drink from the beer in Derek's hand, wincing at the taste.

"Sheriff. Right here." Noah reminded her. Lydia rolled her eyes.

"I have an in with a deputy." She teased. He did not look impressed. "It won't happen again." She promised though they all knew she was lying.

"It looks great in here, Babe." Jordan smiled, wrapping an arm around Lydia and pressing a kiss to her cheek. "And you look amazing."

"I still can't believe you talked me into this." Derek groaned.

"You know he's going to love it." Lydia and Derek had planned what everyone had taken to calling a "nerd party" to celebrate Stiles' 18th birthday. Everyone was tasked with wearing a costume from something that was typically considered geeky. In other words, things Stiles' liked.

"I hope so. I'm wearing a vest." Lydia smacked his arm. Lydia had chosen a Star wars themed costume for Derek, knowing Stiles would die to see his boyfriend dressed as Han Solo. Originally the plan had been for Derek to be Chewbacca but the werewolf had growled when she showed him the fur suit.

"You're lucky I didn't stick you in tights." She reminded him of the alternative costume she had picked out for him.

"Don't tell him about that one. We both know he will plan a whole Justice League costume for Halloween." Derek shuddered at the thought.

"Allison would be a great Wonder Woman..." Lydia considered before laughing at Derek's horrified expression.

"I don't know if I should be grateful or terrified that you two are in my son's life." Noah sighed, glancing between Lydia and Derek.

"Grateful," Lydia answered at the same time Derek said, "Terrified."

"They're here," Isaac spoke softly, alerting the wolves in the room who hadn't been paying attention for their arrival.

"We should hide." Derek told them. They ducked behind the table and waited for the door to swing open. The moment Stiles walked through the door, everyone jumped out.

"Surprise." Stiles pretend shock morphed into real surprise when he noticed all the costumes.

"Oh my god!" He gasped, smiling wide. His dad was the scientist from back to the future while Melissa was dressed as Marty McFly. Erica was fittingly dressed as Cat Woman while Boyd stood by her side dressed as Bane.  Malia and Kira were dressed as the main characters in Killing Eve which had become Stiles' recent obsession. Jackson and Ethan chose to dress like the main characters of An American Werewolf in London and Aiden went as Captain Kirk. Cora was dressed as Buffy the Vampire slayer. Even Peter was there dressed up like Loki. Allison was dressed as Velma from Scooby Doo with Isaac, Lydia and Parrish as Shaggy, Daphne, and Fred. Stiles hoped that meant Scott would be wearing a collar and he could spend his evening making dog jokes. Stiles was loving all of the costumes until his eyes landed on Derek. He was completely speechless. The love of his life was dressed as one of his all time favourite characters and he looked good.

"Happy birthday, Stiles." Derek walked toward him and Stiles felt all of the air leaving  his lungs.

"There is a costume upstairs for you." Lydia called out from behind Derek. He didn't seem to notice she had spoken as his focus was solely on his boyfriend.

"I love you." Stiles spoke as he wrapped his arms around Derek.

"I know." He responded with a knowing smirk. Stiles was sure in that moment that he could die happy. "Come on, the guest of honour can't be the only one without a costume." Derek led Stiles upstairs where a jedi costume was hanging up in his room.
