It all started when they were little, stories of finding the one she loved the one she was meant for in the world whether it be in Paris or outside Paris she was antsy for that life, her ideal being that she would meet the one who was meant for her and who she was meant for, she loved the idea of it, even the teachers would tell stories of it, an app that would help her find her love, she was elated to hear such a ling existed in her lifetime, she was very excited for the day she would get a phone and receive her first message.
She was 5 at the time when she first heard of the magic that would match her with the one she would spend her life with. She was always drawing up phones with messages from a boy who didn't really exist to her, but her friends would always believe that it was an actual phone and she was getting messages from a boy who they didn't go to school with.
Marinette was happy as she played with a fake phone her parents gave her in the park she was very content as she looked at her little phone, she giggled as a imaginary message came through her plastic phone the little girl closing the phone and running around the park as she held her fake phone close to her heart, she had no clue of what was to come in the future or what it would hold for her or her friends to come.
She was always very rambunctious always coming home with scrapes and bruises her hair always up in knots and all over the place, covered in dirt and sand from all her imaginative adventures with her soulmate even though he wasn't there.
Marinette's parents were worried about their daughter and her excitement towards her soulmate, they know that some people don't want to be with there soulmate and they hoped that their daughter who was so excited to meet her soulmate wouldn't end up with someone who would rebel against the system and not want to be with her.
Marinette was just a little girl running around the park when she bumped into a little boy, his mother not far behind, though she looked very sickly and had a breathing mask on her face, Marinette had been taught by her parents not to stare at people that it was rude, it was definitely a more Chinese tradition but she would abide by what she'd been taught.
She lifted her head and held her hand out to the blonde haired, green eyed boy in front of her. "I'm Marinette, would you like to be friends?" She asked as she looked at him a big smile on her face at the thought of making a new friend in possibly the time he would need one the most or from her child like examinations, he would need a friend very soon.
Adrien was reluctant to take any offers of friendship, he had been home schooled all his life and had never gone to an actual school, the five year old wished he could go on adventures like the other children but was often to shy at the time to ask to join in their imaginative lives, his mother would often offer to have him taken to the park but he didn't want to go without her.
The one day that he was able to go to such a place was when his mother finally felt well enough to leave the hospital just for a short while which the young boy quickly took that chance to go so that maybe he could make some friends that his strict father didn't dictate, kids who actually liked him.
He stumbled a little when a girl who was a slight bit smaller than him bumped into him, he looked to her and was met with dark hair and bright blue eyes, he immediately felt a connection to her, he felt a gentle hand on his back his mother pushing him to speak with the small girl and make friends with her, though being the shy boy he was, he wanted the midnight haired girl to ask him to join in, he didn't want to just assume he could join her and her friends.
His eyes widened a little when she actually introduced herself and asked if they could be friends and held a hand out to him, he heard his mother laugh a little in the background and Adrien quickly nodded his head taking her and the small girl leading him out to her friends.
Marinette started to introduce him but quickly stopped. "What's your name?" She asked as she leaned her head to the left and looked at him her pigtails veering a little to the left as well a kind smile on her face.
"A-Adrien." He stuttered out, hoping they didn't know who he was even though he was on a few of the billboards in Paris since he modelled for his father sometime when he needed a child model.
"Well, Adrien, this is Alya and Nino." Marinette introduced her friends Adrien assuming that they all went to school together which he knew he would never have the chance to do with how strict his father was with his mother being in the hospital not even she had the energy to convince his father to let him go to school.
"I've never seen you before, are you homeschooled?" Alya asked her dream of being a reporter making her more and more curious as she got older.
Adrien nodded reluctantly as he looked to the ground squeezing Marinette's hand a little it being a habit he had when he was uncomfortable in a situation which Marinette seemed to quickly catch on to. As she stopped any of her friends questions and caught Adrien up on what was going on in their imaginary world.
