Chapter Twenty-One

As the pair joined their friends at the rooftop pool they were met with an unexpected surprise, as the party was set up as an early celebration of Adriens birthday, since most of their friends would all be in school out of the city when the day would come for Adrien's 19th birthday. Adrien was shocked that Chloe had planned all this for him, he knew Chloe had a crush on him at one point, but as did the rest of the unmatched Paris female population, that was until it came out that Adrien had in fact found his soulmate at the age of 18 in his childhood friend Marinette, who the whole world knew from her past appearances with him. The shock came even more so to the public when it got out through the paparazzi that the couple was expecting their first child.

"Guys you really didn't have to do this." Adrien laughed entirely in shock by the fact that their friends had gone out of their way to plan this for him, Marinette rolled her eyes at Adriens modesty, of course she'd heard all about the plan from Alya, and if she'd put up any less of a fight Adrien would've just given up and stayed home with her.
"But dude! You'll be 19 in October, and we all wanted to celebrate with you before we all go." Nino wrapped an arm around Adriens shoulder, dragging him off to get him a drink, Marinette walked towards a cabana and joined Alya there, who was happily drinking her weight in beer, she wasn't a lightweight, so it wasn't uncommon to see her downing alcohol like it was water sometimes.
"Hey Mamanette! I was waiting for Adrien to drag your pregnant butt here!" Alya yelled happily, very clearly showing signs of being drunk. Marinette just shaking her head and laughing at her friends comment.
"Als I think you might've hit your limit." Marinette laughed as she was handed a water bottle by Rose, Marinette handing it off to Alya. "You definitely need this more than I do." Marinette laughed the other girls joining in with small giggles as Alya made a big show about not needing water then going and cannon balling into the pool.

Marinette sat with the girls for a while, enjoying their company idly chatting about their lives for the last 3 months, Marinette listening intently as Rose went on animatedly about her trip to Australia to help outback animals escape fires and get them to safety or rehabilitation centers of they were injured, Juleka mentioned briefly how she had joined her dad and brother on tour, Marinette cringing slightly at the thought of Juleka being related to Luka who was standing just 20 feet away in deep conversation with Zoe, the two clearly smitten though the thought that he had once tried to help her aunt keep her in Orleans still drove her slightly towards hating him, though often she sent those emotions away blaming them on pregnancy hormones.
Seeing Adrien happily talking with all his buddies made Marinette happy, she could still remember the days they would spend just the 2 of them when they were kids like it was yesterday, when he was homeschooled and the only girls she had to worry about being around him were Kagami, Chloe, and Alya, but she knew that none of them, as interested as Chloe and Kagami were, would not take Adrien. Especially with the soulmate system in place, there was always an underlying feeling that if Adrien wasn't her soulmate, she'd call the system bogus and marry him anyways.

"Hey Marinette, you're starting to look a little faint." Mylene spoke up, Marinette's eyes began to lose focus as she looked back to her female friends.
"I think it's just the heat, I think I'll go hop in the pool to cool down for a little while, then I'll be back." Marinette stood from her seat, losing her balance briefly before she was helped to the pool by a now much more sober Alya, and Mylene; Rose and Juleka following behind as all the girls joined Marinette in the pool. Adrien noticing all the girls from the cabana climbing in the pool concern began to plague him, knowing in Marinette's state she sometimes wasn't wrong about the heat getting to her.
"Mar, you okay?" Adrien asked approaching the edge of the pool to check on his girlfriend, who didn't look well.
"I'm fine, just a little bit of heat getting to me." Marinette spoke trying to settle his worries as she walked to the edge of the pool, leaning up to peck his lips gently.

Adrien smiled softly down at her running over to Chloe and snatching the white wide brimmed hat off the blondes head, knowing she'd make a fuss, but it would definitely be a funny one, as he sprinted back to Marinette plopping the floppy hat onto her head, Marinette catching the slight hint of messing with Chloe and moving deeper into the pool. Everyone began laughing as Chloe tried to reach for the hat, not wanting to get her hair or brand new diamond bikini wet, but that was soon down the drain as Kim ran up behind her and pushed her into the pool, the whole crowd of ex-classmates bursting into fits of laughter as Chloe popped up from beneath the water entirely drenched from head to toe. But soon enough she found humor in it as well, joining them all in laughing while allowing Marinette to continue to wear the hat. Adrien and all their remaining friends climbed in the water a short while later, Adrien swimming up to Marinette and hugging her from behind, his large hands resting on her stomach as he rested his chin on her head.

"Adrien, I'm fine, go have fun." Marinette scolded pushing him back slightly, the blonde shaking his head and wrapping his arms back around her.
"What? Am I not allowed to hug my soulmate and unborn child?" He asked dramatically putting on some sort of show for their friends who mostly just rolled their eyes at Adriens actions while Marinette laughed softly, shaking her head and just relaxing back against him as she continued to chat with Alya about baby names and the upcoming ultrasound where they would learn the baby's gender.
"You two should totally do a gender reveal and Livestream it for all of us that can't be there." Zoe spoke from the edge of the pool knowing that Marinette and Adrien being the first of their friends to have a baby was a huge deal, though Luka who was sitting next to Zoe remained silent on the topic of Marinette having a baby, slight jealousy still visible in his expression, which dampened his relationship not only with Zoe, but with all Zoe's friends as well.
