Chapter Fifteen

After receiving the promise ring, Adrien and Marinette were even more inseparable than they already had been, when Marinette's 18th birthday rolled around in May they celebrated by going to an upscale restaurant in downtown Paris, where she saw many famous faces, ones she'd idolized for many years, and then also familiar faces that were close friends of Adriens father, who had decided against joining them for Marinette's 18th birthday, sitting down and ordering 2 glasses of wine for them, since she was old enough now they had decided to enjoy at least one drink together for her 18th birthday. Taking her first sip of the beverage Marinette's face became scrunched up as the taste of the alcohol, she knew when they entered University she would probably be peer pressured to drink more, but this was her first ever glass of any sort of alcoholic beverage.

Adrien's laughter filled her ears as he watched her face scrunch up adorably. "Mari you are way to cute." The blonde looked at her fondly as the clatter of utensils against plates and the clinking of glasses filled the air, the environment around them was electric and filled with life as there were others around them celebrating and even one couple became engaged in the back corner, triggering a rally of clapping for the happy couple.
"I didn't even do anything, it's just, kinda strong." Marinette defended her actions as Adrien chuckled at her embarrassment, he had a couple drinks at his father's fashion shows since his 18th birthday, but never enough to intoxicate him.

The couple continued to chat "I'm happy we got into the same university, what do you think you're going to major in?" Marinette asked looking at Adrien who seemed to become immersed in his thoughts for only a moment before turning his attention from his thoughts, to the wine glass, then the girl in front of him.
"I'm not sure yet, I've been a model all my life, and I don't want to continue doing that and not having my voice heard, but it's not like my father has to worry about passing the company down, I'm sure you'll make a great CEO." Adrien looked at his girlfriend with a smirk, while her bluebelle eyes seemed to grow 10 sizes as she heard his comment and her phone suddenly went off in her purse.

Marinette reached down to her purse grabbing it and looking at the screen her eyes widening immediately, not only had she gotten into a university less than 10 minutes from where Adrien was going to attend, but she'd just been offered a high level internship at Adriens father's company. Looking up at Adrien, he was giving her the biggest slyest grin she'd ever seen from her boyfriend, she felt her face begin to heat up as the alcohol began to kick in and her cheeks began to heat up.

"Your family is something else Adrien Agreste." Marinette couldn't think of anything else to say, he had convinced his father to give her this internship without a doubt, and based on the grin and his comments, she would be on the fast track to becoming the CEO of the company, except she'd heard a discussion earlier that week that the company would be shifting from Gabriel Designs to The Agreste Co. which meant Gabriel intended for another Agreste to take over the company, and that Agreste wasn't going to be Adrien.
"Well, you'll have to be Mrs. Agreste before you can take over, but my father said he's willing to wait until we graduate to promote you." Adrien's grin was completely unable to be hidden as he looked at his girlfriend, he couldn't be happier to help her achieve her dreams.

Marinette punched his arm at his comment, laughing as she felt like this was almost entirely unbelievable, he was openly admitting that they would probably be getting engaged in the next few years so that she could carry on his father's company, which turned her face from its normal appearance into a bright red blushing mess.
As the night wore on, people around them left and came in silverware and carts of food were moving all over the place and the wait staff continued to be attentive to the celebrating couple as wine flowed between them and the world seemed to be non-existent to them aside from their small bubble where they chatted about life and university and things that made them happy.

"We should go Lovebug." Adrien expressed to his girlfriend, feeling slightly buzzed as the couple had drank 2 bottles of wine together over their dinner, and were both flush in the face as the wine began to set in to both of them, the world becoming fuzzy as Adrien paid the bill and they left the restaurant, the couple practically falling into the back seat of Adriens car as they were a little more than tipsy and Adrien was far from sober enough to be behind the wheel.

Marinette leaned against Adrien, giggling as the alcohol began to really set into their systems and they were equally drunk, if not Marinette a little more as it was her first time with any sort of substance in her system. Leaning over to press a kiss to Marinette's lips Adrien placed a hand on her cheek, he never got to express his love for her, they were always interrupted when they were at his father's house, and didn't feel comfortable with it at school, but they were alone, in his car in an underground parking garage for high class guests, reeling from their conversations over dinner the love was palpable as they kissed, leaning into each other and melting as the kiss seemed to speak volumes more than their own words, they couldn't get enough as their mouths held firm against each other and Adriens hands found purchase on Marinette's waist as the kiss slowly became more intimate as the intoxicated couple sat in the back seat of Adriens very expensive car. Marinette's hands began to slide up his chest and tangle in his once neatly styled golden locks.
