Kaia

I waited for morning to come before I left this place. I knew that it would hurt my mother but I couldn't come back after I left...

I was sitting outside discussing it with my dad when I said those words

Kaia: I can't come back after I leave dad...

Garrett: you know that's going to upset your mother

Kaia: I know, my decision has nothing to do with you or mom but I can't do this anymore, I'm sorry dad but I just don't belong here...

We both quietly looked at Jaxx who was walking this way with his dad...

Kaia: I have to go...

I quickly mounted the horse and urged the horse to gallop towards the ranch house, I got there in no time and made sure all my things were still in the truck after I left the camp with the clothes I was wearing the day I got here. I left the horse tied up at a nearby post and started my truck when I seen his dad ride up to the vehicle.

Jake: can we talk?

I turned the truck off and climbed out and sat down on the steps as we talked...

Jake: I don't know what's going on between you and my son but I appreciate you going through the trouble of bringing him home where he belongs.

Kaia: it seems like he doesn't want me around here anymore so I decided to stay away after I leave...

Jake: you mean you won't be returning?

Kaia: I think it will be better if I never return, your son doesn't want me around anymore so...

Jake: despite what my son says, this is and always be your home Kaia...

Kaia: can you give him this for me please, I don't see a point of holding onto it anymore...

I pulled the ring away from my finger and examined the imprint before I handed it to him.

Jake: my mother’s wedding ring, when did he give this to you?

Kaia: the first time I left home, he never mentioned it belonged to your mother or that it was a wedding ring.

Jake: did he ask you to marry him before?

Kaia: no actually he told me he wanted me to have it to remember him but I don't think we should hold onto memories of each other after today...

Jake: thank you for keeping it safe all this time and it's a shame that you are leaving without telling him goodbye...

Kaia: he doesn't want to see me anymore, he made that clear on more than occasion and if it's not too much to ask, could you keep an close eye on my parents sir?

Jake: of course I will and I hate that things have to end this way but it seems like nobody is going to change your mind.

Kaia: I wish I could stay but it's time for me to move on with my life. It was lovely while it lasted but I let myself get wrapped up in a fantasy and thought me and Jaxx would live happily ever after. I don't regret ever meeting him and I wish him the best in life...

I hugged him before I walked back to my truck...

Jake: take care of yourself out there Kaia...

Kaia: bye...

I drove away from the ranch slowly and didn't look back even though I would always miss this place.
