Chapter 26

Lockey was put on observation, later in the afternoon after he woke up from seemingly a coma, some specialists arrived at the academy to check on his condition. He who was trying to guess what was happening seemingly a questionable act from him. From what the others had been noticing, they were wondering why would he act like he didn't know anything.

"What do you think was going on with Lockey?" Simon asked. "He cannot just forget all those things that had happened just because he was in a coma? I'm so sure that was a different kind of thing."

"Amnesia," Malcolm stated.

"Correct," Simon agreed, nodding his head. "I don't think he has it or maybe he was just acting weird."

"Was it weird to find out that his ability came out after what happened to him?" Malcolm asked. "Check this one out. I tried repeating this part in a slow-mo, but I couldn't understand and it just went white and then gone."

"Replay it for me," utos naman ni Simon.

Malcolm reversed the footage from the CCTV that caught Lockey lurking in the garden outside. Inilapit naman ni Simon ang mukha niya sa screen kung saan tinitigan niya ang bawat frame ng CCTV. Simon doesn't understand what he is looking at. He would only get blinded by the blank white screen causing him to move away and make Malcolm replay the footage again.

"I can't see it. . ." Simon uttered. "Can you slow it even more?"

"I can do that," Malcolm said. "Watch closely.'

"I am, Mal. I am."

"Okay, sorry. . ." he said, raising his hands up.

Both watched the screen closely trying to figure out what happened. They put their concentration on where Lockey was standing in front of the lightning wormhole and before he could get closer, it vanished. But that's where Simon started finding out what they should be looking at her. He pointed the screen, right at the center of the wormhole, a hand that quickly appeared and gone in a millisecond. After that moment, Lockey was struck by lightning causing the footage to go blank.

Napahawak si Simon sa kanyang baywang habang iniisip kung anong nakita niya. Napakunot na lamang ang noo nito.

"That doesn't make sense. . ."

"What if. . ."

"What if?" he questioned Malcolm.

"What if Lockey has the ability to travel through wormholes? I'm not sure how it is possible, but I'm just guessing here. I could be wrong, most likely to be, but I'm not going to let that thought go away."

"Hm. . . Possibly. Should we go back downstairs and ask him?"

Malcolm shrugged off his shoulder. "We can, but I'm not sure if he would be honest with us. He just got his ability and to what we saw earlier, he was a little uncontrollable."

Napasinghal na lamang si Simon at napailing. "Let's just go downstairs. They're probably done checking on him."

Both of them decided to leave their room, but upon stepping out of the room, Aurea came into their sight. Lumapit naman ang kaibigang babae sa kanilang dalawa.

"I thought nasa observatory room kayo with Lockey?"

"Bawal kami sa loob," sagot ni Malcolm.

"I see. . . How was he ba?"

"He's awake," Simon said. "We're still surprised he just came out of a coma just like that. But we're going to see him now, do you want to come with us?"

"Sure. . . Let's go. . ."

The three of them went downstairs to where the observatory room is located, it is just near the clinic where more advanced equipment is being used. Saglit lang din naman nang marating nila ang observatory room ngunit nakasarado pa rin ang pinto. Nagtutulakan pa ang tatlo kung sino ang papasok sa loob para malaman kung ano nang sitwasyon ni Lockey ngayon. Before they could even come up with a decision ay bumukas ang pinto at lumabas si Lockey mula sa kwarto.

Nabigla pa si Lockey nang makita ang tatlong kaibigan na nagulat pa sa paglabas niya.

"Lockey, ayos ka lang?" panimulang tanong ni Simon. Tumango naman ang kaibigan nito. "Anong ginawa nila sa 'yo?"

"In-observe lang nila ako," tipid nitong sagot.

"At anong nangyari?" dagdag na tanong ni Malcolm.

"Some equipment failed and exploded due to high voltage coming from me. But everything is good. . . Ang sabi naman nila, wala naman dapat ipag-alala dahil normal ang vital signs ko at kung ano-ano pang test para lang malaman nila na normal ang lahat. Walang pagbabago bukod sa abilidad ko."

"What did you feel when you were in a coma?" Aurea asked.

"Huh? Uh. . . I was running. . ." anito saka natawa. "Hindi ko alam, pero all this time, I thought I was running kaya nagulat ako nang makita ko sina Malcolm, Simon, at si Sir Gregory sa clinic kanina. The only thing I remember was that I looked up in the night sky and a bolt of lightning came straight into me. . . Actually, I could still feel how it shocked me and seemingly entered through my forehead."

Nagkatinginan naman si Malcolm at Simon. "So, what does this mean now?"

"I agree. . . You've got your ability now. . ."

Napahinga nang malalim na hininga si Lockey. "Basically, I don't have any idea. . . Kinausap nila ako kanina at kung magkakaroon pa ba ako ng tests? Hind ako sigurado, pero baka. Hindi ko pa ulit nakauusap si Sir Gregory, but I would like to talk to him para makausap ko ng personal si Tita Amora. I could finally use my ability to run to Summit City."

"I don't think that's safe. . ." ani Aurea.

"Tama si Aurea," ani Simon saka nito pinatong ang kamay sa balikat ng kaibigan. "For now, we're happy to see you got this ability now. I wouldn't lie. It was sick, but I hope you won't use it to bad things."

Napangisi naman si Lockey. "Ano ka ba. I've been dreaming for this day to come. . . I am ready for it. I think I'll go back upstairs muna. Magpapahinga muna ako. Kita na lang tayo mamaya."

Nang umalis si Lockey at maiwan ang tatlong kaibigan sa kanilang kinatatayuan ay nabalot na lamang ng katanungan ang isip nila. Nagkatinginan ang tatlo ngunit kunot noo na lamang ang namutawi sa kanilang mga mukha kasabay ang hindi maipaliwanag na ekspresyon.

"I think. . . Something's wrong with Lockey. . ." Aurea assumed, Simon and Malcolm looked at each other nodding their heads to agree.
