Everyone in the academy, especially the faculty, spent the week figuring out what happened at the auditorium during the club election announcement. It was unprecedented for every student to experience such an event that shook the whole building while Lockey kept himself silent for what he had seen that day.
At the library, Lockey sat on one of the long wooden tables next to old bookshelves loaded with hundreds of unread books. He picked a book that he thought could help him find the answers he was looking for.
"Thought I'd find you here," Lockey put his eyes up when someone came talking to him. It was just Klein. Tumabi naman ito sa bakanteng upuan sa gilid niya. "What are you up to, huh? Getting nerdy-nerd?"
Napangisi naman si Lockey sa tanong nito saka umiling. "I'm just trying to read. . ."
"Really? What are you reading?" Hindi na hinintay ni Klein na sagutin siya ng roommate kung hindi ay sinilip nito ang cover ng libro. "Quantum Physics. . . Right, nerd," he commented. "Why are you reading it? I don't think we were required to read books like that for the next training."
"You're right, we don't. . . But I just find it interesting after what happened last week."
"Yeah, what happened last week was interesting. . . What made you read it then?" Klein asked again. "I'm sorry if I've got a lot of questions. . . You know, you're just one of the few people I am comfortable talking to. Not because I'm trying to get close to you but because of your father's reputation, I feel like we could be friends."
Lockey smiled. "Well, what do I know? I might be the reason why that happened. . ." He shrugged off.
Klein wondered, squinting his eyes as if he was thinking of possibilities in his head. "I'm not sure if I'm thinking it right. . . Why would you think you could be the reason why it happened? Have you had your abilities yet? Because the last time we saw you, you were running at the field looking like what your father did. . ."
Lockey didn't give a response, but a look.
At the back of Klein's mind, he knew something was going on and Lockey's trying to keep it for himself. He might have an idea of what it is, but he may not be sure until he finds it out. He went closer to Lockey's side and whispered something in his ears.
Napakunot na lamang ang noo ng kaibigan. "Paano?"
"Tara. . . Just act natural, don't make it seem so obvious. Basta sundan mo lang ako."
Naunang umalis sa kanyang kinauupuan si Klein at makailang hakbang lamang ay sumunod na rin si Lockey. Wala mang ideya kung anong pakay ng kaibigan niya. Kaibigan na ang turing niya kay Klein dahil bukod sa nakatira sila sa iisang kwarto at maliban sa madalas niyang makausap na sina Simon at Malcolm ay siya ang kabilang sa mga 'yon.
Nang tuluyang makalabas ng library si Klein ay sagli lamang ay kasunod nito si Lockey. Nang makita niyang lumiko ito sa kanan matapos maratinig ang dulo ng hallway ay binilisan niya ang kanyang paglalakad. Wala gaanong estudyante sa paligid at hindi naman pinapansin si Lockey kung may makasalubong man ito.
