"Get to the roof now!" Yelled Silver.
I ran back in and wrenched the door open. Using my flashlight as guidance, I made my way through the corridors, my friends two steps behind me.
"Stairs!" shouted Elli. I grabbed the handrail and climbed up the stairs, tripping.
"How many floors does this place have?!" yelled Ryan behind me.
"Seven! Now hurry!"
Suddenly I slammed into a wall. Ryan tripped and slammed into me, causing a pileup behind us. I placed my hand on the wall and searched for a door. When I found it I tried to open it but for some horrible reason, it was locked or jammed. Life really is a bitch.
I pushed and banged on the door but it stayed shut. I backed up a bit and slammed my shoulder against the door. I expected the door to burst open, but all I ended up doing was reopening my almost-not-really healed wound.
"Agggggggghh." I groaned. I noticed the door had moved a bit on contact so I tried again.
I kept ramming against the door with my shoulder until the hinges were loose enough for me to kick it down. We rushed outside on the roof. I looked down and saw the shadow spirits reach the hotel. To make things worse, they started to rise off the ground. Those things could fly. How wonderful. All of a sudden, Luna riding a white Pegasus (Silver obviously) met them halfway up the building. She held up her hands and white crescent appeared in the sky, casting white light.
Now normally, if this was some action movie, the crescent's light would kill all the shadow monsters and Luna would have saved our lives, right? Wrong.
The crescent cast out a pathetic dim glow. It stopped the monsters of course, but not enough to kill them. At least the light managed to stop them from reaching the roof. The monsters let out a series of inhuman, angry shrieks, trying to get past the two guardians. We didn't have much time.
"We need to get out and reach the light." I said. "Only light can kill these things."
"HOW?!" yelled Jake exasperated.
Charlie caught my eye. We looked at the buildings and smiled. Good thing the both of us loved to play rooftop run.
Ryan saw what we were looking at. "Oh no."
****
I landed on my knees.
"OUCH!"I scrambled up and ran on the uneven surface of the roof. Good news, the buildings were built really close together and we could jump from roof to roof. Bad news, the spirits saw us.
"DUCK!!!" screamed Indigo.
A black arm swung over our heads. Three shadow spirits were chasing us while the other three were fighting Silver and Luna.
So far we managed to jump five buildings but the light was still far away. To make things even worse, the building in front of us was taller than the others. Crap.
"Go to the buildings on the other side!" I screamed. Ryan, Indigo and the twins jumped on the buildings to the left while Elli, Jake, Jason and I jumped to the right. One problem, We were too busy trying to dodge the swinging arms that we didn't realize there were no buildings on the right. Double crap.
As gravity pulled us down, the first thing that came to my mind was, "I wish I took the time to learn how to fly." Until I realized that humans could not fly and that I was about to die.
Screaming like maniacs as we fell off the building about to splatter on the road, everything started to move in slow motion. My entire life flashed before my eyes... I think....
