Who's pov do ya think!?
"You first."
I gulped as I stepped up to face him. Aelius raised his fists. They caught on fire. I uncertainly shifted into a fighting pose, right hand wavering over the hilt of my dagger strapped to my belt.
"Focus on a happy thought. Negative emotions are the most powerful but they can be unpredictable. If you use happy emotions instead of anger or fear, it will be easier to control your elements." He said, circling me.
I turned around slowly, making sure I always faced him. If he was behind me, he would have a clear shot at my back and I really don't want that again after my fight with Carl. I shifted through my memories, still keeping an eye on Aelius. What memories made me happy? I thought about the times I had fun with dad before he died. One of my favorite memories about him resurfaced my mind.
"Happy birthday sweetheart!!" Dad burst into my room. Ten-year-old me groaned and reluctantly sat up on bed. Dad placed a platter of waffles, ice-cream and juice on my bed. 'Happy tenth Bday Raven!!' was written on the waffles with chocolate syrup. I had the birthday breakfast happily. Dad grinned as I licked the last crumbs of waffles on my fingers before he placed a huge box on my bed. I opened the present excited and found a leather jacket, slightly big, a box of hair dye and a beautiful pair of purple-ish sunglasses. "Remember when you told me how much you wanted to dye your hair? Well we're going to the hairdresser right now. And I got you the jacket and sunglasses to make you look even cooler!" Dad grinned at me. I jumped out of bed excitedly and dressed up, pulling the jacket on, the sleeves way too big for me. Dad lifted me up on my shoulders and we went to the hairdressers and dyed my hair with purple streaks. We spent the rest of the day just the both of us in the city, while I proudly showed off my newly dyed hair, wearing my sunglasses and jacket.
"Miss Dexter?" Aelius asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Ready?"
I nodded, a confident smile on my lips. He shot a fire ball at my head.
I barely managed to duck away. A faint smell of smoke wafted in the air and to my horror, the collar on my jacket was sizzling. I threw the jacket off and tossed it at Noah, before running around the arena as Aelius shot more flames at me. I faced him, trying to focus on my memory. Nothing happened. I leaped away as another blast of flames was aimed at my head. Then the ground started to rumble. Spikes of rock shot out of the floor and one was just inches away from me. Oh no.
I ran even faster around the arena as spikes shot out of the ground and balls of fire shot past my head.
"Your happy memory Dexter!" Yelled Aelius calmly. "Look for the element inside of you and focus on that happy thought. All you have to do is look for it inside you. The staff already unlocked the door, now you just have to let it out."
Easy for you to say, you can control all the elements while I'm over here running like a headless chicken! Might I add, I am trying to dodge giant rock spikes trying to impale me and fire balls trying to burn me alive!!!!!!!!!
I stumbled to the ground as another spire of rock shot up next to me. I tried to focus on my memory but another voice was blocking it out.
"Raven stand up! How is it so hard for you to unlock your power?! The staff practically did your job. Now stand up and stop that idiotic running! Don't be a weakling!" Barnaby hooted from the fence. He yelled at me from outside the arena. "Just stand and fight!" Fight! Fight. Fight....
I looked down, rage slowly amplifying each second as Barnaby yelled at me. I stood up, eyes fixed on the floor. The ground rumbled and shook. I barely even noticed. My eyesight sharpened. Something inside of me was taking control, I didn't mind. The sound of rumbling rocks was almost deafening. Earth shot out of the ground and formed a giant lump of rock over the entire arena. Then it started to fall. Straight at me.
