Be There For You

Tenebris has the staff. He killed the Elders. I slashed at the dummy and kicked it aside. I proceeded to attacking the next dummy, slashing furiously with my blades, splintering the wooden mannequin. He'll escape any day now.

No. I paused, looking at the splintered dummy in front of me. Mom and dad will get the staff. Mom, dad and the other parents. I continued beating up the dummy, thoughts circling my head. But they've been gone for a week now.

I stopped, panting. My heart ached. Forcing myself to continue, I picked up a series of throwing knives hanging on the wall. I threw three target spears in the air and started throwing the tiny blades. They're fine. Mom and dad are fine. Mom and dad are fine.

A knife sliced right through one of the targets. I flung another knife, missing the other two as they zipped around in the air. You should have gone with them. I dropped the knife, shaking.

I yelled in anger and threw the rest of the knifes, bringing down the remaining targets. My mind went back to a week ago when Liam burst into the dining room and told us what happened.

The jet they were on was attacked. An army of about two hundred minor dark spirits. Liam described them as a type of infected pixie, small, about the size of our hands but incredibly dangerous and viscous. Despite their size, they had incredible strength, able to lift ten tons alone. They had a thirst for blood and when hungry, they attacked anything in sight with their sharp teeth.

They attacked the jet in a swarm, ripping away the metal sheets covering the aircraft, breaking the windows and blowing up the engines. They tried to fight them but two hundred dark pixies were too much for them. They crashed the jet and took the Staff of Elders, leaving half of their group to finish off Liam and the Elders while the others took off.

Liam said that there were too many of them and they were injured because of the crash. Prisha saved his life by sending him here with an escape pod and blowing up the debris of the jet, killing the pixies and unfortunately the Elders too.

"I tried to stay. I tried to stay and help but Lady Prisha didn't leave any room for argument. She forced me into the pod and locked in the coordinates for the palace. I was too injured to fight." Liam had said in a small voice, shaking uncontrollably. "I could only watch from above as she set the jet engines aflame. Three of the elders had already perished so she and your grandfather led the pixies to the debris and blew the entire thing up."

He had tears in his eyes. He shook his head. "I've never seen so many dark spirits before in my entire life. It was like a swarm of wasps attacking, going in for the kill." he covered his face with his hands, breaking down into terrified sobs.

My father immediately stood up and said all the parents were to leave now. He forbade us to leave the palace. I closed my eyes, remembering the argument.

"We are the chosen! We're supposed to go too!" I yelled.

"Noah you are the ten chosen! We cannot risk any of your lives before the rise of Tenebris! You are to stay at the palace and keep training until the deadline!"  yelled back my father.

"And what if the deadline has advanced?!" I screamed. "His dark spirits have the staff! There is no telling they won't find him! We have to go with you!"

"Nobody knows where Tenebris is imprisoned! Tenebris himself doesn't know where he is locked up! You are to stay here! I will not risk my daughter's life because she wants to play the hero! You already have too much on your shoulders! You will stay here and that is settled!" bellowed my father.

"But-"

"Enough is enough Noami! Listen to your father!" mom glared at me. "You are my daughter! I will not let you put yourself in danger! Not now, not ever! You will stay and you will train. We will go after the pixies and get the staff back. Once we have it, we will return."
