Fourteen years have passed since Caroline Forbes left and returned to Mystic Falls. Significant changes have occurred in her absence. Axel, Davina, and Rebekah made the decision to leave the empire behind and relocate to New Orleans to support their family. Over a span of 5 years, the trio worked alongside Hayley in her efforts to find a cure for the remaining Mikaelson family members.

She had helped her friends face Sirens, the devil, and Heretics. Caroline finds great joy in her role as the headmistress of a newly established school, the Salvatore boarding school, which she co-founded with Alaric. This institution serves as a sanctuary, safeguarding their precious daughters and ensuring their well-being.

Axel leaned against the worn wooden bar of the Texas saloon, the scent of whiskey lingering in the air around him. It had been five long years since he left everything behind and settled in this small town, seeking solace in the vast expanse of the Lone Star State. But no matter how far he ran, the memories of his past haunted him like ghosts in the night.
As he nursed his drink, lost in his thoughts, the sound of the swinging saloon doors drew his attention. His heart skipped a beat when he saw her – Hope, his niece, standing there with a boy he didn't recognize. She was just fifteen, too young to be wandering into a place like this.
"Hope? What are you doing here?" Axel's voice was filled with concern as he approached her.
Hope's eyes widened in surprise as she saw her uncle, a mixture of relief and fear flashing across her face. "Uncle Axel, I... I need your help," she stammered, her voice trembling with emotion.
Axel's brow furrowed in worry. "What's wrong? What happened?" he asked, his mind racing with all the worst possible scenarios. Hope took a deep breath, trying to steady herself before she spoke. "It's Mom... she's been kidnapped," she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes.
Axel felt like the ground had been ripped out from under him. Hayley was like his sister for 5 years, helping her find the cure for his family and helping her take care of Hope was missing. He couldn't bear the thought of losing her too. "Who... who would do such a thing?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Hope shook her head, her voice trembling with fear. "I don't know... Uncle Axel, I did something that got her kidnapped in the first place." she sobbed, her words choked with emotion.
He looked at her in confusion." What did you do, Hope?" He asked and she looked at him with tears in her eyes before telling him what happened. Axel's eyes widened before thinking. Even though what she did was wrong, he would do anything to protect her, to keep her safe from harm. "I'll help you, Hope. I promise," he said, his voice filled with determination.
