After rescuing the Researcher and being given the ID Card, the three are able to get out of the facility and to the next set of stairs. The three walk down the staircase, but are starting to feel quite warm, more like hot.

"Ugh, why is it so hot?" Riddle asks, sweating, "Perhaps I'm so angry with Ortho all the blood's rushed to my head."

"What a coincidence. I'm feeling rather flushed as well," Azul says.

"Indeed. My body is starting to feel extremely hot all of the sudden," Tanzanite says, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"It's so hot the air's shimmering, like a heat haze..." Riddle says. But suddenly, he comes to realize, "Wait a minute. Something strange is afoot."

"What's wrong, Riddle?" Tanzanite says.

Riddle thinks a bit as he says, "A heat haze... That's a schlieren effect. Convection causes variation in atmospheric density, which leads to a gradient in the refractive index. All of that's to say—we're not the ones who are hot. It's the air!"

"The air?" Azul and Tanzanite respond, confused.

Suddenly, they hear footsteps and something approaching them.

Azul is shocked, "Whoa! Is that some kind of undersea volcano?!"

They soon hear more footsteps and something continues to approach them.

"No, something's coming. And it's gigantic!" Riddle says, shocked.

Everyone looks to see a lava monster that has a glass head full of ink blot, and its body is made of magma.
