New year's

New year's eve.

It's new year's eve today and we are eating a late breakfast together. Maggie is doing the laundry and Patrick is away buying something somewhere. I'll admit that I didn't really pay attention when he told us were he was going.

"Are you okay love?" Billie asks me

"Um, yeah" I say, trying to sound convincing but failing miserably.

"You're not though, don't lie to me"

"Sorry.."

"So tell me. I want to help you" Billie says and moves closer to me.

"It's about um, tonight. When we go to Grand Park to watch the fireworks" I say fidgeting with my hands.

Billie gestures for me to keep talking.

"I'm... Scared" I finally say.

"Okay, of which part? The fireworks?" Billie asks me calmly.

"Yeah, you know the loud bang-noise they make and then everybody screams to celebrate. It kind of reminds me of the fights back at home... But I really wanna go though, don't get me wrong!" I say and meets her glance.

"Well you know we can just stay at home instead if you want to, but if you wanna go I'll promise to help you"

"I don't want you to leave me there, because I'm afraid that the fireworks will start and I'll get scared and don't know what to do"

"Would it help if I promised to not leave you and hold your hand the whole time? Then when the fireworks start we can cuddle and I'll cover your ears. What do you think about that?" She says and takes my hands in hers.

"W-would you do that for me?" I ask

"Baby, for real, It's not even a question. Of course I would, I'm always there for you"

"I know, and that's one of the many things I love about you. I just feel like I don't do enough for you" I say and look down.

Billie giggles at me and wraps her arms around me, putting me in her lap.

"What?" I ask getting teared up.

"Just to have you by my side is enough Tuva. But did you seriously forget that you literally wake up in the middle of the night just because of me like once a week? And also persists to help me even though you don't have to" Billie says and wipes a tear away with her thumb before it runs down my cheek.

I pout at her and she smiles at me.

"You are so silly and stupid sometimes, but oh how I love you" she says and pecks my lips.

12 hours later.

We are in the car now, on our way to Grand Park and the new year's eve celebration. It's not a very long drive to get there, only about 20 minutes. We left Ruby and Shark with one of Billie's neighbors who is an old retired lady that was going to stay at home tonight anyways. She loves to watch our dogs, I think she really enjoys their company.
