CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
SPIRIT

ETHERION REALM

-Ered Village-

/a flashback/
"A-A girl?" a man lifted her daughter with pure disappointment slowly appeared on his face as his wife that had gone through labor coughed.

Cough.

A wolf-like trait that was suppose to be a blessing that became a great inconvenience to women of their family. Chief Eureka had no idea what to do with his daughter. He already had the thought of selling her once but he barely stopped himself from doing that because this Ered Chief knew what doing that action will taint his reputation.

Disgusting indeed.

The wife of that man blamed her own existence as she hated her ancestors, wishing for her daughter not to inherit her wolf-like trait. Alas, her hope shattered like the pieces of the mirror on the floor. Grabbing her daughter's shoulder as she rested her forehead on hers.

"Kaira... be obedient," a snickering voice whispered in the young Kaira's ears. Her pupils trembled as she whimpered, nodding without much of a thought.

Hmm.

She was young and naive to the whispering voices of her mother whom she dearly loved. Although her mother carved scars in her heart, she thought it was for her own good.

Truly a naive girl.

The only time Kaira realized the words of her mother was when she set refuge to the Humania Realm, seeking for the lost pieces of herself.

Along with her mother's sanity, their family crumbled like the shards of mirror, reflecting nothing but a hollow child.

Ha.

Chief Eureka was devastated when his wife left the village, aggressively crumpling the piece of paper in his hand. He turned to Kaira, having the similar features of his wife, his head barely held his raging thoughts. Right now, he wanted to kill this girl in front of him. At the same time, however, he was unable to due to the reason of maintaining his clean reputation.

Grin.

"Kaira... be obedient," the creeping voice of her mother was a nightmare to her. Why should she be obedient? What does that even mean to her?

"Kaira, be obedient. You don't want to disappoint your Father, no?"

Dun!

With those thoughts running in her mind, she reached the outskirts of their village. A simple hut with vintage books and ancient decors was seen by the young eyes of Kaira. In the middle, there sat a woman with a hood covering her upper face. She held a ball of crystal as her fingers played the colors.

Hung...

"Aunty," she cried, wishing to he consoled by the friend of her mother.

She slightly lifted her chin, still moving her fingers as the colors swirl in accordance. A soft smile was drawn by her lips, hiding her whole identity. "Child," nevertheless, her voice was clear and soothing that the young Kaira slowly shed her tears, trickling down her chin. —a tone that's more comforting than a lullaby.

"Cry without fear,
Your tears will dry clear
An angel sent from above
Will give his heart filled with love."

A simple phrase recoiled in her head, seeing an angelic boy in front of her. The scenery had brightened clear as the birds chirped with melody, even the calm waves of the stream was music in her ears.
