CHAPTER TEN
DEPARTURE---*---
ETHERION REALM-Maya Village-
"Father!" Kaira growled, showing her fangs. "Hear me!""I had enough of your complaints, Kaira!" her father responded as he lifted his fist, ready to aim at her daughter's face. In the middle of their heated argument, the village chief of Maya knocked on the door. He had heard them shouting back, which bothered him deeply. It was evident in his expression that he was frightened by the pressure of the atmosphere in the room and was hesitating to knock again. Yet he knew that he must step on this matter or the princess might get a bruise on her face.
"Is... everything well?" he asked in a trembling voice, holding his knuckles.
"Yes," said Kaira's father. Eureka was the name of this man who had controlled Kaira's life for years. His physical appearance may look old, but his strength could be compared to any young aspiring knight of the kingdom. He glared at Kaira, telling her to behave, but she had an agenda—to fight for their village. However, their argument was in vain since Leviathan and his other soldiers were marching.
The villagers of both villages gathered around them, lending their hands and towels to these royal heroes. Lee's on Leviathan's back, as his eyes are closed with furrowed brows. He ended up being unconscious after pouring his energy into dissolving the corrupted water. Leonard is not looking well either. His eyelids were nearly dropping, and his body appears to be weary.
In each step, he wobbles with a grunting sound. His left leg was injured after getting crampled by their enemy as his back was hit by a massive dark energy. Miri noticed it and felt pity. She wanted to reach him, but she stopped herself from doing so after knowing that he's already betrothed to Kaira. However, Kaira only stared at him with a neutral expression. Does she not care? Well, she was not in a good mood to feel this way.
Leonard locked his eyes to Kaira then, shifted it to Miri. At first she was unsure to where the Second Young Prince was staring, not until he approached her.
"You have returned..." she greeted with hesitation, flicking her eyes to Kaira, who's beside her.
Leonard extended his arm as he hold a necklace with a wood carved into a leaf. Miri's eyes were rounded in surprise as she took it. She felt relieved that she already had an important item in her possession.
"Where did you get this?" She lifted her chin to look at him. Her eyes were shining that reflected her gratitude to Leonard. She wanted to say it aloud but, Leonard's body had collapsed.
Without even wanting it, Kaira caught him using her arms. His body weight dragged her to bend her knees as well. "Young Highness?" her voice tried reaching him out, tapping his cheek gently. As much as she wanted to hit him, he was one of the men that saved her village. Therefore, she should at least express her thanks to him. "Young Highness?"
"I... I'll call for help..." huffed Miri, looking like she's about to faint. She dashed in a hut where the experts of medicine and healing were staying.
After couple of seconds in time, Leonard and Lee were lying on a mat as elders were wiping the blood on their skin. Seeing their bruises and wounds, they couldn't be more thankful to their sacrifice. Leviathan on the other hand, was also having a seizure of pain as his monsterous from wear off.
"AHHHHH!" he screamed while his body twitched. Although they were horrified to come near him, they were trying to help him as stating their gratitude. The clouds have not cleared the skies but they've felt the assurance and the calmness of the incoming catastrophe. That was thanks to Leviathan and his sons with their unnamed companions in the Tahomma Palace and the rest of the Ered Warriors.
