Acceptance heals everything

Part 36. Necessary

"You know everything?" asked Rohit again just to confirm himself that he heard it right and Virat nodded in yes.

"Why don't you get some sleep Rohit, it's late and you need rest before you take any decision", said Virat, he was concerned about him seeing him stressed about everything.

"Why don't you call me Ro?" Rohit asked instead.

Virat was surprised by that question, he looked at Rohit and Rohit saw a flicker of emotion in his eyes.

"Pata hai Vi, things will never be okay if we don't talk. And you know it's not easy for me to say all this suddenly, to fix everything. Just look how helpless I am, you staying silent is affecting me the most. Think about it", said Rohit laying down, Virat immediately helped him.

For the first time, Rohit felt Virat caressing his knuckles, keeping his hold on his hand for sometime.

He felt that warmth.

May be it was because of KL, he concluded.

He closed his eyes with the thoughts of his friendship with Virat. He didnt know when, now he actually missed his Vi. 

Virat sat on the other side of the bed, looked at Rohit and again for the nth time the thought crossed his mind, how he was responsible for this, all of this.

Virat could do anything to get his normal life back but now all he could think was, he didn't deserve it. He deserves this, this life for running away, for leaving his family.

"We have to talk" Rohit said and Virat just was thinking, how to talk, how to talk without hurting someone. Because whenever he tried to voice his opinion, he always ended up hurting someone.

But the one person who never left his side even if he had hurt him was Rah, his kiddo.

He didn't even see the time when he dialled his number. 

"Ha bhai"

"Did you reach safely?" asked Virat in low voice not wanting to wake Rohit up and not even wanting to leave Rohit alone. 

KL sat on the chair in the balcony, "I did but it is not the reason u called? As I texted u this 10 mins ago, kya baat hai? Are you feeling restless?", asked KL softly. 

"I guess, I don't know-- can you just keep talking to me please",  said Virat resting his head on the headboard. 

"Sure Virat bhai, calm down", said KL calmly. 

KL heard Virat trying to calm his breathing. He waited patiently for that before he could say anything. 

"Can you imagine I tried to make uttapam and it turned out to be disaster?" KL began telling him stories and could hear Virat adding a hmm in between.

"Bhai u listening?", asked KL not hearing any response. 

"He slept", KL heard Rohit on the other side. 

Rohit who was awake this whole time-- turned to see Virat dozed off in a sitting position. He noticed the call was still going on. He made Virat lay down and covered him with comforter, Virat unknowingly held his hand.

"Rohit?" KL called hesitantly, "Ya?" Rohit asked. 

"Umm can you check his temperature? Is it normal?", asked KL wanting to know if everything was okay. 

"Little warmer than usual" Rohit said checking his forehead. 

"Okay, just make sure he is covered and may be increase AC temperature", KL said. 

No one said anything for a min, KL began, "Umm-- I should.."

"Please don't hang up" Rohit requested as he knew KL wouldn't agree otherwise. 

"Rah, please tell me what is going on with Virat?", asked Rohit desperately. 

KL sighed, "It's not my place", he said in a low voice. 

"I know and I understand but atleast something, I am in dark Rah"

"You chose that Rohit", KL said sharply more than he intended to, "Sorry-- that was-- umm", he immediately lower his tone. 

Rohit closed his eyes hearing that sharp tone. 

"The thing which I can tell you is Rohit-- he is not the same, I don't know if he will ever be the same. As far as I know you are also not the same-- situations and circumstances have made it like that. I don't blame anyone not you or him", said KL softly. 

"You are suffering a lot, I can't even imagine what you must be going through. I also know you are the most affected in all this. The thing is-- if you want everything to be normal you will have to push yourself because I know Virat will not. He is not ready to move on", KL said. 

"Move on from what?" asked Rohit composing himself. 

"From everything", Rah said quietly which was understood by Rohit.

Rohit sighed, "Thanks Rah, I hope you will come by tomorrow", he said. 

"Sure I will, dont worry" KL said, "take care Rohit", he added and hanged up the call. 

Rohit heard his full name again but he was okay that atleast KL had a conversation with him. He kept the phone aside on the table and saw Virat sleeping clutching comforter with one hand and holding Rohit's hand with other. 

At that moment, Rohit knew that he had to make Virat open up and for that he has to do that. 

Was he ready? No. 

But it is necessary.
