Part 60. Emotional Mirrors

Jaddu entered Virat's room, seeing him he felt nothing but numb. He sat beside him and at the same time he woke up. Before he could hyperventilate Jaddu pressed the button and called the staff.

It took half hour for them to check and remove the mask from Virat once they left the room, he looked at his side, "Rah?", Virat said not able to understand who was it.

"Sorry kiddo, I disappointed you again, right", Virat said not even trying to see that it was not KL as he had assumed that only KL will be there by his side and no one else.

Jaddu didn't try to correct him as he knew he was under the effect of high sedatives.

"Please tell sorry to everyone, specially Jaddu and Ro", said Virat and closed his eyes which scared Jaddu. 

"Veer?", he called with moist eyes. 

He immediately called the Doctor who sent Jaddu outside to check on Virat. Jaddu just kept looking through the small glass, he could not move from there. 

He was in guilt but he was also aware he could not make this guilt eat him up. He has seen what it does to a person when he looked at Virat, he was not gonna do the same otherwise it would be difficult to bring everything back again, if it will be back. But for Ro and his Veer he got to keep himself in check no matter what. 

Ash had sent Mahi and Bhuvi back to the house. The kids were with Rohit and Ash was helping with hospital formalities. 

"He is okay?", Jaddu asked in concern. 

"Yes and no, he is out of danger but not completely his vitals are really low due to which we need to keep him in observation. After 24 hours we can say it for sure", Aman informed about it and left from there. 

Ash joined Jaddu after he was done with formalities, "You okay?", Ash asked softly keeping his hand on his shoulder. 

"Am I responsible for this?", Jaddu asked quietly. 

Ash made Jaddu sit on the chair, passed him coffee, "Do you want me to be honest?", he asked. 

"When are you not with me?", Jaddu said back having a sip of coffee which calmed his nerves a bit. 

"Good point. So, yes, you and Rohit both are responsible for this. But I don't completely blame you or Virat too for that matter. And adding to that, you should not blame you too. It will just get worse. And we know they are both impulsive idiots when it comes to each other or any team member, you know that if any of us were in Rohit's place we would have done the same and any of us would be in Virat's place we would be in guilt, as Virat is more emotional than us, it affected him more. Now,  as much as it is difficult to move past this, according to me you should do it and we should focus how we can get Virat out of this guilt and help Rohit along the way, they need us", Ash explained. 

"Are you sure you checked yourself? Do you have two brains or something to think?", Jaddu asked and Ash couldn't help but smile at that, if he is joking, that means he understood it. 

In Rohit's room, KL was just holding his hand and not wanting to move there. Because he has no courage to see Virat again and being with Rohit was helping him to not panic about Virat's state. 

"Where did you find him?", Rohit asked after sometime. 

"Cricket ground, Wankhede-- he was sitting in the dugout", said KL not able to forget what state Virat was in, how his eyes at first instance were blank and didn't recognise KL. 

"Rah, it's over, he is here", Jassi said keeping hand on his shoulder. 

"Did he always end up in Cricket ground whenever he-- I mean"

"The places where has some significance, his Doctor said-- he tries really hard to connect again going to places which has some importance", said KL composing himself. 

"What places did you find him previously and how many times this has happened?", Rohit asked. 

"Umm first I found him in some club, it was really old. And he was drunk babbling something about you and him that--"

"That was the first club Virat and I ever went to after we became friends and that club actually made us best friends, Virat had punched a guy for me and also we got scolded by Mahi bhai", said Rohit quietly. 

Three of them had small smile on their face listening to Rohit. 

"You guys may think that I was wrong to go away and I won't deny, I am at fault. But for this reason-- I never wanted Virat to be guilty of everything. That was the main reason followed by my own pain, I chose to go away", Rohit said as he thought that they had the right to know. 

"Rohit bhai, you were partially correct, but Virat never accepts things the way they are when it comes to you. He lost it—he became really angry, frustrated, and emotional when you vanished. KL recalled everything and added, "He was just focused on finding you and when he realized why, then he was—lifeless." 

KL wiped the tears again, "When he first time saw you, he could not differentiate that whether it was hallucination or reality. Because till that time he had seen you in dreams and nightmares only. But when he was sure that it was you, I cannot even tell you-- with every step he wanted everything to be perfect for you-- he didn't want to do any mistake so that you dont leave him again", said KL holding Rohit's hand again. 

"I know he was at fault, I know-- he was pushing everyone away because he was scared that someone else will get hurt because of him but everyone just pushed him more away you know"

"I know kiddo, I understand everything may be not everything but most of it, now. I have been reacting impulsive too", Rohit said. 

"Bhaiya you take rest now, your discharge will be done tomorrow. K, go and check about Virat bhai", Jassi instructed softly. 

"Shreyas make sure he has something and you all too", Rohit said closing his eyes dozing off. 

Shreyas and KL left the room while Jassi stayed by Rohit's side.
