Part 48. What if?

"Ro, get up. It's time for your sessions, come on" said Virat shaking him.

Rohit just didn't budge. Virat got tensed, he rushed to him and check his forehead. There was no fever or such, "Ro, what is the matter with you?"

"I don't want to, I don't feel like getting up today", said Rohit shutting his eyes tightly.

"Ro, it's the day they monitor whole month's progress. Please get up", requested Virat.

Rohit opened his eyes listening to that request. Yes, a Whole month had passed. He didn't know if there was some progress-- as he didn't keep any hopes, so sensing the progress also even if it was there, he had been ignorant.

But Virat was not ignorant, specifically about Rohit. About his own, yes but not about Rohit. He knew every single detail of the treatment.

The team was busy in the series. Seniors were still waiting for the things to be revealed. They waited patiently as for them also no matter how angry they are, Rohit's progress was more important.

Today they were gonna come and stay with Rohit and Virat after the Doctors check on Rohit.

"Rohit what's wrong? Why are you not answering today?" Virat asked as Rohit was too lost to even pay attention what Virat was saying.

"What if there is no progress?"

"Then we try again"

"What if I don't want to?"

"You are giving up?"

Rohit just looked down, not wanting to face Virat and see disappointment in his eyes. 

"Let's get done with the check up, shall we? We can discuss this later on", said Virat getting up and wrapping up the breakfast things. 

The checkup was done, Rohit was sitting in the room as he got tired after the whole hour of medical examination on him. 

He saw Virat was in some deep discussion with the team of Doctors. 

"Morning bhai" Shreyas arrived with Jassi and KL. 

"Morning" replied Rohit, "done with everything?", he asked.

"Yes now we have a break-- we are settling here now with you and Virat bhai", Jassi said declaring it to which Rohit smiled. 

"We missed being with you guys", Shreyas said. 

Rohit noticed KL looking at Virat as he was talking with doctors. 

"K?" Rohit called. 

"ya, how are you?", KL sat beside him. 

"fine, you? how is the equation with team now?", asked Rohit.

"umm.. I tried" KL began but was cut off by Shreyas. 

"he is lying, he was just silent throughout, doing his captain duties-- going to his room or visiting you", Said Shreyas. 

"Bhai, I--", KL tried to reason it but he had nothing to explain. 

Rohit held his hand in understanding, he looked for Virat outside but instead received a text, "coming in sometime, need to go with Doctors, take care till then"

Jaddu and Ash were packing their bags as they were gonna stay at the farmhouse with Rohit for sometime. They heard a knock on the door, Ash went to open it and saw Virat there. 

He was shocked and surprised as he never came back to the hotel. And in all these months even if he was in the team hotel, he never came to anyone's room. 

"Can I come in?" he asked, Ash have never heard that kind of low voice from him ever. 

Ash gave him space to enter the room. Jaddu was surprised too, he saw Virat-- he looked as if he was gonna collapse any minute. 

Virat looked up at Jaddu-- Jaddu could see wave of emotions for the very first time in his eyes. 

He couldn't help, he took two steps forward and hugged Virat. 

"Veer, what's wrong?", Jaddu asked softly to which Virat just hugged him back and tears fell from his eyes. 

Ash also got worried seeing him like that, "Is Rohit okay?", he asked softly. 

Virat just nodded in yes. 

Jaddu made him sit on the couch and Ash brought water for him. 

"Calm down Veer", Jaddu said softly helping him drink water. 

"Sorry I just, I didn't know where else to go", Virat said not meeting their eyes. 

"You dont have to be, you can always come back to us! We are gonna be there no matter what" Ash said holding his hand assuring him. 

Ash noticed his hands were shaking, "Virat you have to take deep breaths", instructed Ash rubbing his knuckles trying to calm him down.

Virat rested his head on Jaddu's shoulder, trying to stay calm. 

Jaddu looked at Ash worriedly not understanding what was going on. 

"Virat u here with me", Ash asked patting his cheeks, Virat weakly nodded in yes. 

After sometime Virat closed his eyes and his body went limp as he drifted in unconsciousness.
