You played for the Chicago WNBA team. you'd met Derek in high school but he never made a move until college. Things were difficult with you in college and him a cop so you didn't become official until three months before he joined the FBI. You made it work. If he had a case where you had a game he'd try to visit you. During your off season you'd fly to Virginia to spend some time with him, you didn't mind him leaving for cases because you knew you'd see him after.

Currently Derek was in Vegas and he checked your basketball schedule, you played here in two days. He had time off in three days so he could fly to Chicago to spend some time with you before and after your game next week.

Two days later, Hotch had just dismissed everyone since the case had been solved and the guy was now in jail. He said they'd fly out tomorrow so that gave the team time to do as they pleased while in the city. "Can I catch a ride with you to the hotel? Spencer is heading to bed and I wanna gamble." Prentiss said to him.

"Oh, I'm not going to the hotel. And there's a casino in the lobby." He said after double checking he got the ticket, he was lucky it was closer to the court.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

"Gonna go visit a friend." He smiled and Prentiss nodded, not fully believing him. Derek climbed into the drivers seat before heading to the stadium. He went through security, scanning his ticket, and finding his seat. Luck seemed to be on his side tonight cause he sat right next to one of the other players girlfriend, Taylor, who he was good friends with.

"Derek Morgan, this is a surprise." She said as he sat down.

"Yeah, had a case here and noticed she had a game so I decided to show up. My time off starts tomorrow so I'll fly home then to Chicago."

"Trust me, I know. Whenever me and Casey take her home she talks about how excited she is. She acts like a teenager excited to see her favorite band."

"Sounds just like her." He chuckled.

The game was tied and there was twenty seconds left. You had just rebounded the ball and ran down the court in order to at least make a layup. Instead the defense had blocked all clear shots closer to the goal so you backed up.

"Take the three." Derek whispered as he stood from his seat in anticipation.

You took a deep breath before shooting. You held your breath as you waited for it to bounce out or go in. The second you saw it pass through the net and the crowd cheered you breathed again. Your team basically tackled you as the timer buzzed.
Derek cheered as he clapped his hands. One game closer to the championship.

He waited outside the stadium for you as he continued to talk to Taylor. "She's on her way out right now." Casey said as she walked out and stood next to her girlfriend. "I saw you in the stands earlier, she didn't so I figured it was a surprise."

"Thanks for not spoiling it." He smiled before his phone rang and your contact came up. He showed it to the couple before they left. "Hey baby."

"Hey. So I was wondering what you wanted to do for dinner tomorrow. My flight doesn't land until a little after lunch and yours doesn't land until dinner so I'll eat a snack, pick you up then we can get dinner." You said as you left the locker room.

"Actually..." you knew that tone of voice.

"You got a case didn't you? It's fine we'll just reschedule. I'll see you whenever you get the chance. Love you, bye." You didn't want to seem harsh but you also didn't want to cry over the phone. As you left the stadium you kept your had down.

"I was going to say I got a better flight and I'll land earlier." You heard him say and you smiled as you rushed over to him. You dropped your bag near the car before jumping into his arms.

"You are such an ass." You laughed as you held on to him.

"Yeah, yeah, I love you too." He said before kissing you.

You talked about the game and he talked about his case. As you got back to your hotel room you quickly hid the papers on the table. "What's that?" He asked as you shoved them back into the folder.

"Not important right now." You smiled Turing back to him.

"C'mon tell me. Pay raise? Team offer?" Derek guessed.

"Baby, I will tell you when the time comes. Right now is not that time."

"Pregnancy?"

"Derek."

"Please. You know how nosey I am." He said as he wrapped his arms around your waist.

"Okay, don't get mad."

"Promise."

"After this season is over, I'm quitting. I've put a lot of thought into this and I'm loosing my passion for playing, not for basketball. A school in Virginia, close to the bureau offered me a coaching position, only catch is I have to be a teacher. Luckily that was my second option when choosing a career so I already have my teaching degree in social studies and history. As much as I love you I know you'd never step down and I'd never ask you of that."
Derek smiled before pulling you in for a kiss.

"What did I do to deserve you?" He asked as he sat on the bed, you in his lap.

"You supported me, so I'm just returning the favor. That's all. I mean I hate the long distance and I know it won't really change that much since you travel for work, but at least when you come home I'll be there."

"I like the sound of that. And I finished renovating one of my houses, actually my favorite one, what if we moved into it?"

"I love the sound of that. Just three weeks and then we can make it happen."

"Three weeks."

"And I can finally meet your team."
