Preface; I had to pick an album and a song from said album. Analyze the song and album cover separately then connect how they're related.

———————————————

I chose the album cover from Wake Up & it's Over by Lovejoy. When looking at the album cover your eyes are drawn to the massive explosion from the derailed train. As you can tell it's not a drawing or painting of a train crash, it's a sculpture which makes this even more interesting. The attention to detail is amazing too because you can see the broken barrier on the ground below the bridge. There are four small workers who seem to look as if they're trying to do something, but they ultimately can't do anything. The train didn't derail in a city, it derailed in the country which makes me think this is in Europe or somewhere that uses trains as a main mode of transportation.

The song I chose from this album is named Call Me What You Like. The song as a whole is about the spot in a relationship where neither of the people knows if they want to commit beyond the physical aspects of it. In the chorus, it's about the physical aspects I mentioned before. When they kiss it's not romantic or out of love, it's just to keep each other happy. When it says, you can't stay awake forever, it means that she can't continue her life and stay happy by continuing to hook up with random guys the rest of her life. Now, the bridge is my favorite part, I love this part because it's about how he would willingly follow her wherever she goes, not really caring if he gets hurt, making him realize how stupid he's being by not following his own heart, just hers. When he yells, I know you're gonna kill me, he is talking about how he now knows that she doesn't want to continue and that he's wasted his time.

Looking at the cover it just looks like a derailed train, so you have to use the lyrics and songs of the album to help you understand it. When you listen to the album you can ultimately tell it's about a failed relationship or the different types of failed relationships. So, the train represents a relationship and when it fails the train will derail and explode. The small worker men can either represent someone trying to save the relationship but not actually doing anything to save it, or they represent trying to keep the emotions from the past relationship from affecting the new/future relationships.

Lyrics that I talk about
"And you can kiss the skin from my lips If it makes you feel good I'm not sure if you want it Not sure if you need me too And you can taste the beer On every guy who talks to you But you can't stay awake forever No, you can't stay awake forever"
Chorus

"This just in: I am a total fucking dumbass and I've come to the uncomfortable conclusion I'll be spending the rest of my life in a state of constant paranoia Just let me follow you And I'll proceed to bang my head on every doorway And door frame you see suitable for us to go through And I've found that the road to happiness is paved With rows and rows Of very tempting parking spaces, I'm not paranoid, I'm a realist I know you're gonna kill me!"
