Abel goes to Charlie's house on Thanksgiving and he sees Bob Marks bringing a turkey over.
"Hey, Abel!" Bob greets.
Abel smiles. "Hey, Bob," he greets. He jogs up to the door and opens it since Charlie decided to close it. He knows Bella hasn't been sleeping well and it's taking its toll on Charlie.
"Thank God you're here, Abel," Charlie grumbles as he leaves Bob walks over.
Abel smiles and Charlie brings the turkey to the kitchen. Abel shafts cooking the sides and he makes Bella a plate. After he and Charlie eat, he goes upstairs and he hands Bella her plate.
"I'm not hungry," Bella croaks.
"I don't give a shift," Abel replies. "You're eating. You're not wasting your life away for nothing because of an idiot. Now take the damn plate and eat, woman."
Bella hesitates. "You really think he's an idiot?"
"He left you in the woods, of course I think he's an idiot," Abel says. "Now eat up. Get strong. I want you see mine and Lauren's apartment."
Bella takes the plate and she takes a wary bite of the potatoes and then she devours the entire plate. Abel lures her out of her bedroom and brings her downstairs for seconds. Charlie tries and he forces himself not to stare in awe at the set of cousins acting like he and Hilarie did when they were growing up, before Hilarie and Jason met.
"Who cooked this?" Bella asks after she drinks a half a class of sweet tea.
"Bob Marks next door made the turkey," Charlie says, "Abel made the rest."
"It's delicious," Bella says. "Abel, are you still going to culinary school?"
"I got accepted into the one in Port Angeles just last week," Abel replies. "I'm excited. I want to open my own restaurant, hopefully in the old boating house of Waylon's. Make it an American restaurant of home cooked meals."
"I'll look into the property," Charlie says to his nephew. "Very ambitious." He looks at Bella. "You still want to be an author, Bells?"
"Yeah," Bella replies. "Only time I'd have to socialize is at Book Readings and to my publisher."
"You're so ambitious," Charlie says. "I'm proud."
Bella focuses on devouring her seconds while Charlie and Abel talk about food.
