2 weeks later.
"Thanks, Mr. Lambert," Abel says to his professor. Today was his video chat meeting with him. "I look forward to starting classes."
"I look forward to teaching you, Mr. Swan," Mr. Lambert says before they end the call.
Abel goes to the living room and he sees a now very pregnant and pale Bella. "I know you've always wanted to be a mom, but tell me that's why you're keeping the baby, and that it's because you want to be a vampire."
"It's because I've always wanted to be a mother," Bella coos.
Abel nods and he sits down beside her. "Emmett and I went by an orphanage last week, looking to adopt," he says. "I do fine around one or two humans at a time right now. A human child will truly help with my control."
"Is it true?" Jacob Black asks downstairs and Abel sighs.
"Hello, Jacob, how are you?" Rosalie asks bitterly.
"Jake, is that you?" Bella asks and Jacob comes upstairs. "I'm glad you came."
Abel gets up and places himself in front of Bella when Jacob goes to approach. His brown eyes narrow protectively.
"What's your problem?" Jacob snaps.
"Abel, it's okay," Bella assured.
Abel hesitates but Emmett grabs his hand. Abel moves beside him.
"You look terrible," Jacob says once he sits beside Bella.
Bella scoffs. "It's nice to see you, too," she mutters in annoyance.
"So, are you going to tell me what's wrong with you?" Jake asks.
"Rose, can you help me up?" Bella asks.
Rosalie walks over and she helps her up. Jacob charges at Edward.
"You did this!"
Emmett quickly stops him and pushes him away from Edward. Abel walks over to Bella and he helps her sit down.
"I didn't know this was even possible," Carlisle admits.
"What is it?" Jacob asks.
"I'm not sure," Carlisle replies. "Ultrasounds and needles won't penetrate the embryonic sac."
"I can't see it, either," Alice admits. "And I can't see Bella's future anymore."
"Wait, really?" Abel asks her, surprised. This is new information to him.
"I've been trying these last two weeks, but nothing," Alice admits and she reaches and grabs Abel's hand when he goes more concerned.
"We've been researching legends," Carlisle says, "but there isn't much to go on. What we do know is that it's strong. And fast-growing."
"Then why haven't you done anything?" Jacob snaps. "Take it out of her."
Abel shields Carlisle from the temperamental werewolf and he narrows his eyes daringly. Evan sees Emmett in the vampire right this second.
"This is none of your business, dog," Rosalie says darkly as she joins Abel's side.
"Rose!" Esme scolds. "All this fighting isn't good for Bella."
"The fetus isn't good for Bella," Alice corrects.
"Say the word, Alice," Rosalie says sternly. "Baby! It's just a little baby."
"Possibly," Jasper mutters.
"Carlisle," Jacob looks at the former doctor desperately while Abel goes to Bella's side, "you've got to do something."
"No," Bella speaks up finally. "It's not his decision. It's not any of yours."
"Exactly," Abel says. "It's your decision, Bells. Your body, your choice."
"Jacob, I need to talk to you," Edward says and he walks away, Jacob quickly follows.
"Abel, I'm glad you're here," Bella says. "I need you now more than ever."
"You're my family, Bells," Abel says. "Of course I'm here."
"Abel, Emmett... will you two be my baby's godfathers?" Bella asks the couple.
Emmett and Abel share a look and nod.
"We'd be honored," Abel says and he grabs Bella's hand. "I love you, Bells, even though you'll be a vampire soon."
"Yeah, Ed won't let you stay dead," Emmett says. "Why do yo think I turned Abel? I couldn't wait for Carlisle to come back. Lauren got permission from Sam and the Elders, and now..."
"Now we have an eternity," Abel adds and Emmett would be blushing if he were human.
"Come on, babe," Emmett says when Jacob comes back in. "Let them talk."
Abel nods. "Call for me if you need me, Bells," he urges and he goes upstairs with Emmett.
