Bella and Abel walk into the cafeteria together during lunch the next day, the doors being pushed open by the straight, awkward brunette girl and she looks over at the Cullen table. The only one even looking in their direction is Emmett and his eyes are on Abel. Edward doesn't look over. Emmett and Abel share a smile before the blue-haired gay boy goes to the table with Nella.

"La Push, babies," Eric Yorkie boasts as Bella puts her bag down  and Abel sits beside Lauren, who passes him her chicken because she won't eat it. "You in?"

"Am we supposed to know what that means?" Bella asks,

"First Beach down on the Quiluete rez, La Push," Mike Newton says. "We're all going down after school. Big swell coming in."

Eric jumps up into a chair and be pretends to surf. "And I don't just surf the internet," he muses.

"Eric, you stood up once... on a foam board," Jess says.

Angela Weber smiles at them and she turns to the Swans. "There's whale watching, too," she says. "You two should totally come with."

"I'm in," Abel says

"Yes!" Eric high-fives him before looking at Bella. "La Push, baby. It's La Push."

"Okay, I'll go if you stop saying that," Bella interrupts before she goes to the salad bar.

"Hey, Abel, Emmett Cullen keeps staring at you," Lauren says. "You gonna bottom for him?"

"Lauren!" Angel squeaks, his cheeks turning cherry red.

His cheeks darken when he meets eyes with an amused Emmett and he quickly bows his head. Lauren laughs at his blush and Angela and Jessica snicker.

Rosalie can't help but grin a little bit. "Thanks," she says.

Abel smiles at the sound of her voice and he returns to the table he was sat at and he opens his book up. He starts reading on the first chapter. Emmett walks over and he sits down.

"Hey," Emmett greets.

Abel smiles at him and Emmett's gut churns. "Hey," he greets in return. "You come to join little ole' me?"

Emmett smirks a little. "Maybe," he replies. "Would that be a problem?"

"No," Abel replies. "Never."

Emmett stares at him for a long time and Abel looks down, blushing a little. Rosalie watches with a frown.

"You can tell him," Rosalie whispers. "I can see your feelings are genuine. I think he likes you, too."

Emmett watches as Abel reads while blushing. "Hey, can we hang out after school?" he asks.

"Maybe tomorrow," Abel replies. "I promised my friends I'd go to La Push with them today."

Emmett nods. He grabs Abel's notebook and pen from the boy's backpack. He writes his name in big letters on the first clean page he finds along with his number before returning it.

"Text me," he says and he rejoins Evan and Rosalie. "Are you sure, Rose?"

"No, I'm not, but you were right," Rosalie says. "Abel's your mate. He deserves to know what he's walking into if things progress with you two."

Emmett nods and the bell rings. He watches as Abel grabs his things and puts them into his bag and leaves.
