"um, hey genius. we just passed our houses," jake announced.
heeseung didn't react. "i know."
jake was confused but decided to let him be. he just walked next to them.
"did i do something wrong?" heeseung questioned softly.
jake couldn't help but feel guilty.
"not at all..." he responded.
"then, did i maybe say something awful to you on my birthday? because if i did, i'm really sorry, you know i was drunk and—"
"you didn't. you didn't say anything awful or mean to me," jake rushed to say.
heeseung nodded. jake was watching him intently.
"then... is everything okay? you know you can talk to me about anything and i will never, ever judge you, jaeyunie." heeseung whispered. he was now looking at jake and they both were standing right in front of the other.
heeseung noticed jake's eyes were glossy. he started to become really worried. why hadn't he asked earlier?!
"i didn't know if it was better to tell you or not. i was hoping i had more time to find the right moment to say it but... i guess there's no such thing as the right moment."
"jake, you're really starting to scare me a little. you're not dying, right?" heeseung asked with a little tremble in his voice.
jake laughed in his nervousness. "no, not yet silly. it's not that."
"whew... okay, then i'm all ears."
the younger shifted in his place and his hands started to shake so he clasped them together strongly.
jake took a long deep breath in and let it out slowly.
"there's two things i have to tell you. one i've been hiding for a bit over a month now, and the other for over a year."
"okay..?"
"okay. so yeah, two things. two very difficult things to say to you."
"jake."
"yes?"
"just say it!" heeseung smiled. "i'm here for you."
jake closed his eyes and furrowed his brows showing how hard it was for him, and then he relaxed his face.
