"how come you went on your healing walk and came back looking way worse?" sunghoon teased jake.

"oh shut up. since when have i healed at all..."

jake let his things fall on the couch and sunghoon wrapped him in a comforting hug.

"you will, i know it. you'll be okay jakeu," sunghoon reassured.

jake buried his face in sunghoon's neck and let out his deepest breath.

"you asked your friend about him again? is that it?" sunghoon asked.

jake shook his head. "i didn't have to."

sunghoon let go of jake, his face showing clear confusion.

"what do you mean?"

jake sighed, "heeseung's here."

sunghoon opened his eyes wide, "here in the building? he came with you?"

jake laughed a little, sunghoon really was all he needed right now. "no genius, he's here in brisbane. i met him on my way to the docks. it was... disheartening."

"he came all the way here?"

and so jake started telling sunghoon all about his unprecedented reunion and how he had found it all so surreal. plus, he didn't know what to do.

"jake, if he came all the way here, then it must mean his feelings are genuine. i don't think he was trying to two-time you and the girl back then," sunghoon reasoned.

"you didn't see what i did, sunghoon. they kissed. twice. and just a few days later he comes and tells me he likes me? how could i not think that?" jake argued.

"if you say it like that... then maybe it is a little suspicious. either way, i support that you talk to him and listen to what he has to say. maybe things aren't what they look like, jakeu."

jake nodded. sunghoon was right. just then jake remembered something.

"i don't have his number..."

sunghoon smiled, "silly jakeu. do you even know where he is staying?"

jake face palmed himself. "no... and i left him at the docks..."

sunghoon laughed and infected jake, who was actually concerned about heeseung but knew he would find his way back. he was smart, after all.

and so jake went to his last day of term the next day a little worried heeseung would come by again. now he knew he hadn't hallucinated him there, it actually had been him. but heeseung didn't show up at all. jake even went to the docks again after school but heeseung wasn't anywhere in sight.

jake started feeling way too anxious. he didn't know how to contact him and he didn't know where he was staying. but he knew someone who did: yang jungwon.

he phoned his long distance friend thankful for the small time difference.

"hello?"

"jungwon! hi!"

"hey... what's with the call? did something happen?"

jake wanted to ask for heeseung's number right away, but since he hadn't told jungwon everything that happened he fell silent. it had been barely 24 hours since he met heeseung again and just because he hadn't seen him he was already worried.

"not really..." jake lied. "just been wondering the same, you know... how is he?"

there was also some seconds of silence on jungwon's end of the line.

"i haven't seen him in days actually. last time i did though, he looked very worn out. why do you ask?"

jake scoffed. "same reason i have been doing so for the past years."

"is that it? are you sure?"

but jake wasn't sure about that. in fact, he knew it wasn't that same reason, but admitting his faults to his best friend and probably the only person who still remembered him as 17 year old sim jaeyun scared jake.

if he wanted changes for the better though, he would need to start taking responsibility.

"i have something to tell you, actually. do you have time?"

Jake finally came clean to Jungwon 😌

Gotta be honest here, school's kicking my butt right now but it won't stop me from uploading new chapters!

At least not until I finish publishing the ones I already wrote and proofread...
