heeseung's voice caught in his throat, he was not planning to say that!
jake was so surprised himself that he stopped sobbing. they were just staring into each other's eyes.
"you... you love me?" jake asked suddenly remembering how a drunk heeseung had once said the same thing, but not meaning what he thought back then.
now, everything seemed to have changed. everything seemed to be different, yet there was one thing that didn't change at all. heeseung loved jake, even if the love had transformed from platonic to romantic, the love had always been there.
heeseung did mean what he said, even if he didn't mean to say it right then. so he scratched the back of his neck and held his flustered self high.
"i do love you. not as friends and not anybody else. only you, jaeyunie."
and to jake, it felt like the whole world stopped.
"i'm just so happy that you're here now. i promise to make it up to you for the three years we spent apart, jaeyunie..."
"me too. let's start it all over again, hm? what do you say?" jake asked with a smile and slightly swollen eyes and nose.
heeseung, of course, found him the cutest boy ever.
"alright..." heeseung agreed, "would you like to go out with me later today? on a date?" he asked in full confidence, completely taking jake off guard now.
"u-uhh, i um... huh? but, today? what about your parents?!" jake asked.
heeseung laughed. "you know that's something you should've thought of before knocking like crazy, right?" he had unconsciously sat next to jake on the same couch.
jake gasped covering his mouth, "did i wake them up?!" he whisper-yelled.
the older kept smiling, "no silly, they're not even here. went on a honeymoon together as if they haven't been married for over 25 years."
"that's sweet... that they keep celebrating being with each other like it's been no time at all..." jake mumbled smiling himself.
"yeah, that's how we'll be even after 50 years," heeseung winked and for the nth time in the morning he made jake blush, but this time it reminded him of 17-year-old jake. and, oh, how much he had missed him.
