and jake knew right away what it was. the smile the boy he liked was making said it all. the light emanating from heeseung's eyes was enough to know.

mirae and him were official now. jake did not want to hear it. he didn't want heeseung to tell him. he wished he could stop time and run away, as far away as he could.

"jake, i—

but the younger interrupted him. "i know. you don't have to say it, i get it. it's pretty obvious."

heeseung was taken aback. was he really that transparent?

still, he wanted to say it, "is it? we may be thinking of different things."

"i'm pretty sure i know. why don't i save you breath and saliva and we just leave it at that."

heeseung would have believed jake knew what he was going to say if his reaction was a very different one. if he knew, why was jake even more pissed than before?

but it made sense... if heeseung was going to tell jake he likes him too weeks before he left, then it was normal he'd be pissed. heeseung deflated, now he didn't know if he had to tell jake.

"i really think i should tell you, to avoid any misunderstandings between us. i would hate to keep being on bad terms with you, jaeyunie..." heeseung explained.

jake didn't want to hear it, he didn't want to see the smile on heeseung's face when he said mirae's name, he didn't want to have to congratulate him because it would be just empty words.

even though jake truly wished he was happy for him, how could he? after all, heeseung had forgotten about him several times and on important dates at that. heeseung had already apologized but jake couldn't help but not trust him completely. because of that and because of what he had witnessed two times now.

jake really didn't want to hear it.

but heeseung was right. parting on bad terms wasn't what jake wanted either. so, just one more time, jake let heeseung have his way. just one more time, jake let heeseung break him.

"alright. i'll listen to you."

heeseung's heart picked up speed like it had never before. he was so conscious of his feelings and jake had no idea.

"i like you too, jaeyunie. i like you like you."

and jake realized he had made the worst mistake by letting heeseung speak.

"...huh?"
