Chapter 45- She Won.

I put on a cold and indifferent look on my face as I pushed through.

"Ronnie!" Grayson called, all signs of the consideration before vanishing.

I held up a hand. "Enough."

I made my way to Gage's office and sank into the chair. I knew he wouldn't mind that I came in without permission.

"Ronnie." Gage said behind me.

I sighed. "I'm fine." I said, my tone saying the exact opposite.

Gage put a hand on my shoulder and I looked up at him, giving him a weak smile.

"I'm going to bed. Night, Gage." I announced, getting out of the chair.

I knew he wanted to protest, seeing it was only 5 PM, so I closed the door quickly.

"Hey baby." Grayson said, watching me change into shorts.

"Hello, love." I said, tired of fighting.

I went over to him and met his lips with mine hungrily. He responded immediately, wrapping his arms around my waist. I pressed closer to him, feeling his fingers tuck into my pants.

But then he pulled away and eyed me. "My ex, Mara's missing."

I seperated from him and turned my back on him. "Oh really." I said, trying to sound concerned.

"Yeah." Grayson said icily, all love from before seeming to evaporate.

I kept my back turned until I heard Grayson leave. I watched his back, then, sadness washing over me. Why couldn't I have just been genuinely concerned? I'd do anything, now, to get him back.

It's been 2 days since Grayson told me Mara was missing. Emma and Grayson wouldn't leave the living room unless  it was for meals. Even today, they were in there sipping coffee, Emma's eyes were red and swollen and Grayson looked like he hadn't slept in days. He probably hadn't.

Today, I felt a burst of courage surge through me. As I passed the living room, I knocked on the wall cautiously.

"Hey guys." I said akwardly, regret engulfing me like hungry flames. Why did I knock, why why why?

"Go away, Ronnie." Grayson said, his eyes emotionless.

My eyebrows rose 3 miles high. "Oh my God. You're not Grayson anymore." I whispered, although I knew he heard it.

"Ronnie! I'm sorry!" Grayson cried, getting up from the loveseat.

"I said, Enough!" I shouted, tears of fury flowing down my face.

I turned on my heel and ran outside, only to bump into Oliver.

"Whoa, whoa. What's wrong?" Oliver asked, grabbing me by the shoulders.

I shook  my head, shuddering, and took his hands off my shoulders.

"Let's go somewhere." I whispered huskily, needing to get away.

Through a blur of tears, I saw Grayson standing in the window, watching me and Oliver in his car.

My hand itched to throw him the finger, but I controlled myself and just let Oliver drive me away.
