Double Act - Chapter 21
~~ Louis' P.O.V ~~
"I had no idea this was going to be so hard!" I groaned, running a hand through my hair as I stared at the two pictures; one of four boys and one of three; Four Life and Divided. Both were brilliant and I couldn't decide which of them to put through to the Live Shows.
"Lou!" Harry whined. "You cannot seriously still be stuck on this decision! You know Four Life's harmonies are tighter, and they'd appeal more to young girls than Divided would, so why on earth are you still having doubts?" he said, slapping my arm lightly.
I knew Four Life were better, of course I did. You'd have to be blind not to see it. But that's exactly why I was having doubts. Even though I knew Lara and Dylan were just friends, but that text from her just made me so... so angry and I didn't know why. I guess I thought since he was spending more time with her, she'd fall for him. Why that got me so mad just made me blush.
Harry was right.
"Alright, alright. So let's look at what we've got, shall we?" Liam said, being the reasonable and sensible lad he was. I puffed out my cheeks as I let out a sigh, and nodded at his suggestion. "Okay, so going through we have Socks and Shoes, Triple Threat and Double Act," Liam remembered aloud, looking at me for confirmation. I nodded at each one.
"You need to pick, Lou," Niall shrugged. "We've done all the advising we can, it's up to you to make the final decision," he said earnestly.
I chewed my lip. He was right and I knew it. I was the only one that had to make this decision.
But should I be childish and silly and go for the group that I knew weren't ready for the live shows, or grow up and pick the better band?
There could only really be one answer.

I stared across the table as Lara set about devouring her plate of spaghetti bolognaise. As she sucked in a string of pasta, sauce splattered all down her chin and even on her nose. I grimaced as Dylan, Callum and James burst in to embarressingly loud laughter.
"Do you have to eat it like that?" I asked her, rolling my eyes playfully. She stopped for a moment to chew what she had shoved into her mouth, and grinned. She looked worse when she smiled, so I looked away.
Dylan wiped a tear of laughter from his eye, and reached over to pick up a napkin from the table. "Lara, c'mere," he said, breathing heavily from laughing. "You have sauce all over your face," he chuckled, waiting for her to finish her mouthful before wiping some of the red sauce off of her chin. His eyes scanned her face as he wiped off the sauce from either side of her mouth
Something I couldn't decipher flashed across his pale blue eyes before being swallowed up once again by the amusement. I ignored it and turned away from them, taking another sip of my drink.

Dylan sniggered at the other side of the road so I glared at him. "Hey, I love spaghetti!" I yelled accross as an excuse.
"I can see. You love it so much it's in your hair," he burst out laughing, pointing at me as we walked through the cold night air.
I shrugged. "Eh, I'll get it out later," I replied.
Dylan sighed, gazing at me weirdly. "You really don't care, do you?"
"What do you mean?"
He smiled. "You don't care how you look or anything, do you?" he said, taking a step in to the road to cross over to my side.
I frowned, and tucked my arms around myself self-consciously. "Should I care?" I mumbled, looking down at my converse as they trudged along the concrete path. We were walking back from the restaurant after we'd refused desert, leaving Livvy, Callum and James to stuff their faces.
All of a sudden Dylan was right next to me, his expression very serious. He took one of my arms, pulling it away from my protective position. I let it go limp, and allowed him to thread his fingers through mine. "I'm not saying it in a bad way, La," he said, swinging our arms back and forth.
I nodded. "I know, I know," I smiled at him. "It's true, though. I don't care. People can think what they want of me, I don't really mind," I said earnestly.
"I know you don't," he grinned. He mumbled something else afterwards, his voice significantly lower. When I realised what I'd heard him say, my head whipped round to face him.
"What?" I asked him quickly.
He looked to the floor and frowned. "Nothing, I didn't say anything,"
I giggled. "Oh. I thought I heard you say that yo-" I started, only to be cut off by his excited shout.
"I'll race you back!" he cried, almost too desperately, before speeding off down the road.
I groaned, and dropped my head to look at the floor. Then I kicked off at a run, knowing as a fact that I was way faster than Dylan, even in my jeans and pair of purple converse.
In doing so, I was trying to shrug off the fact that I thought I had just heard him say that he loved me.
