Double Act - Chapter 38
~~ Louis' P.O.V ~~
I didn't have a long amount of time to be annoyed with Dylan because I was given just 5 minutes with them before the final of the competition would continue. I tried to push my annoyance down in to the depths of my stomach, and put on my best smile to greet the boys.
But as I watched the boys bound around with the excitement of a billion puppies, I suddenly found that smile spreading easier than I thought it would.
"Louis!"
Callum and Ollie cried out in unison, dashing forward along with Jacob and bundling me in to a warm and cologne-smelling hug. I chuckled and hugged them back. Despite my anger toward Dylan I did enjoy the other 3 boys' company and I had missed them whilst they were gone. I was usually surrounded by adults and girls and all that, and having them around made me feel more relaxed, comfortable even.
I thought about my words before I let them leave my mouth. "Lads, how quiet it has been without you," I teased, not at all joking.
They pulled back, all three of them beaming brightly, making me laugh.
"So where's Dylan?" I asked, noticing his absence and the fact that I had last seen him with Lara bugging me. I would much rather have him in my company than Lara's. Sneaky devil.
Callum looked around himself and frowned. I caught Jacob wiggling his eyebrows suggestively, but pretended not to notice it, and ignored the stab in my stomach. She wouldn't, would she? No. Of course not. She didn't like him like he liked her. R-right?..
"Not sure," Ollie said, his smile not quite leaving his face. "I can go fetch him, if you like?"
Yes. Yes, I want you to go and get that sneaky bugger's arse here right now so that I can tell him to get his stupid in-love butt away from Lara because I'm scared that she'll forget about all about me and fall for him. I hate the idea of losing her and I think I love her. So yes. That's exactly what I want.
That's not suspicious, right?
As much as I wanted to confirm that he was not with Lara at that moment, and believe me, I did, I checked my watch and noticed that we had no time to fetch him and talk to him as well. The program was going live in another 60 seconds and I could hear Joey yelling for me as we spoke.
I wrinkled my nose up and shook my head. "Nah, don't worry mate. Have you got the song we discussed all prepared?" I asked, pausing before I left to go to stage, where more than one voice was now calling my name.
Ollie nodded. "So excited for it!" he grinned.
I smirked, and gave him a thumbs up before dashing out of the wings and hurtling in to my seat, where Joey was practically in flames.
"Reporting for duty, Sir!" I barked sarcastically, pulling a mock salute at Joey before he could say anything. I could tell he was trying to be angry at me, but in the end he just shook his head, smiling fondly. I'm too hilariously adorable to punish, you see...
~~ Lara's P.O.V ~~
After hugging the three other boys, I looked down at the floor as I came face to face with Dylan. I couldn't look at him, for fear the tears in my eyes would spill down my cheeks. I gulped back the guilt and forced myself to look up at him.
"Dylan," I breathed, smiling weakly.
He didn't smile back, which shocked me. "Lara. Good to see you again,"
I couldn't help myself. I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around his torso, my face buried in his chest. I closed my eyes and breathed in his scent. Dylan was one of the best, and only, friends I had ever had, and being away from him made me realise how much I valued him.
